Who would you rank as the greatest running back in Cowboy history?
OK guys and gals, we have asked for the best quarterback, now lets get your opinion on the running backs. For you youngsters, I did include the current members of the backfield.

I thought about Emmitt and Tony as they were both awesome backs , but Don was with the BOYS when they started in 59' and needless to say as a new team they were bad , but still Don had some good #'s even though he played behind a few terrible front lines in the early days .

Very tough call, but I'm going with #22!  After all, he IS the All Time NFL Leader in rushing yards!   Dorsett and Perkins were MONSTERS in their day as well!

I chose , robert newhouse, because to me he was just awesume the way he carried players down the field on his way to the goal line. Calvin Hill was  the same way,  my #2.

Out of curiousity how could Barber and Felix Jones even be put on a list of greatest Cowboy running backs? Seeing since Jones hasnt even been in the NFL 2 yrs yet and Barber is in his 5th. Anyway the best is Smith, I mean the NFL's leading rusher. But I was always partial to Tony Dorsett. Who could ever forget his 99 yard run at Minnesota on MNF (1/3/83). To make it even better the Cowboys only had 10 offensive players on the field

I have great memories and a special repesct for everyone on the list , Don Perkins and the earlier backs set the bar for TD and  Emmitt.  This honor goes to Emmitt as the best Back

No doubt Emmitt was or is the best but I remeber the year's Duane Thomas played for the Cowboy's certainly not in the class of running back that Emmitt was but he was a very punishing back and no one could compare to his quirkiness.

Well, I am partial to Tony Dorsett and Robert Newhouse.  Mr. Dorsett set the way for men like Emitt to emulate and strive to be like him when they grew up ... Mr. Newhouse was just a big ol' teddy bear until he stepped on the field and then it was all business.  Since, I went to high school with his nephew and lived in the same tiny town where he went to school ... I had the privilege of meeting him once when he came to our little town to watch his nephew play football.  Mr. Dorsett PAVED the way for the stats of today ... the Hall of Fame Running Back is always my #1 choice for the best that will ever be ... Not taking any thing away from Emitt but Tony did it first, did it when things were a LOT TOUGHER (rule changes etc).

tony dorsett had alot more had pure talent and speed for the game which was is style but he he could have taking pounding that smith did during his playing days. emmitt smith as to be the on pure heart given every thing he had to give to the game he would do whatever he took to help his team win the game.

This will always be the toughest question to answer fairly...TD was a BEAST...And Emmitt was a MONSTER...King Kong Vs Godzilla, but you must take the #1 rusher of ALL TIME...

I HATE correcting fellow Cowboys fans, but Emmitt didn't play with a "broken arm"- he did however play against the Giants with a separated shoulder!  Just to clarify of course!

I would have taken any of them as a Falcon, but Smith was the best.

Another hard decision to make..ugh! Well!  First of all, there are so many great running backs to chose from.  Dan Perkins was ranking excellent running back before Tony Dorsett.  Tony had a quick move, speed was his essence, but I think that Emmitt Smith tops the greatest running back for the history of Cowboys.

Several great Cowboy RB's to choose from, but it is hard to vote against the NFL's ALL-TIME rushing leader.
