Bengals or Steelers? Who ends the season on top?
The Bengals and Steelers are tied at 5-2. Just the way it should be with the Bengals and Steelers battling for dominance of the AFC North.

So who will end up on top for the regular season? Will it be the Bengals or the Steelers?

The Steelers started off a little rocky but have since got there game together. The Bengals have had a good year, but this time the Steelers will turn the tables on the Bengals and make up for the first match up. Good luck to both teams.

the bengals wins all came in the very end of their games, and they just barely pulled it off. they're definitely a much improved team from last year, but their wins came on a account of some good luck in my opinion. All their wins came with a "phew, we did it!" mentality, and the Steelers are a better team on many levels, plus Pittsburghs remaining schedule is pretty simple.

I don't think they will sweep the Ravens, I don't think they'll sweep the Steelers, and I don't think the Steelers will sweep the Ravens.  My prediction is all 3 of them will split the season series with each other, but all 3 teams will sweep the Browns (yeah I know, I'm really going out on a limb with that one).

The Steelers will win it by the end of the season.  They have alot more endurance and can string wins together based on skill and talent, not just lucky breaks at the end of the game.  Chad will continue to get in the way of the cohesiveness of the Begals as a team, and will always be a distraction to the team both on and off the field

I think it will come down to the wire. I think the Bengals will end up winning at the end but I' not so sure they can sweep the Steelers on the year. That would be quite an accomplishment especially how the Steelers are playing at the moment.

BOTH teams are playing very good this season, but I'm still giving the edge to the Steelers! THe last time these two teams played each other (obviously the Bengals won)- the steelers weren't playing good football at all. Now it's appears that the Steelers have found their groove and have been playing up to the standard of a defending Superbowl Champion. Right now, as I see it, the Steelers look like the BEST team in the AFC- even better than the Colts and Patriots!

Based on what we've seen this year from the Steelers, that "groove" has a name, and it's Troy Polamalu.

Both teams are having a great year and deserve to be ranked where they are.  The Steelers however will be out for revenge this Sunday.  It will be a close one but we will have to wait till the end of the year for this result i think it will be a battle to the end.

The Steelers were a different team when they played in week 3. Polamalu was out and Rashard Mendenhall hadn't yet claimed the starting running back position. The game was in Cincinnatti and it was close. This time it's at Heinz Field and the Steelers have corrected some early season problems. I see Pittsburgh winning this game and it being a good race the rest of the season for the division title. With the Steelers ultimately winning the division. But, if the Bengals can win they will essentialy have a 2-game lead in the division. Even if th Steelers end up in a tie with them at the end of the year the Bengals own the first tie-breaker.

The Stealers have the easier schedule remaining - I don't think they have a team with a winning record after the Bengals.  The Bengals have a couple of tough road games left (home schedule shouldn't be a problem)  They will have to play tough the rest of the way.

Apparently you didn't see Cincinnati's last two games.  They destroyed the Bears and they manhandled the Ravens.  The defense is stout and the offense has finally caught up.  They are not going to be easy to beat for anybody.

Vin, if you watched this game, and I'm pretty sure you did considering your wife is a Steelers fan, it's not a shock at all considering how incredibly poorly the Steelers played all 60 minutes.  They deserved to lose.

Yes I did watch the entire game and the Steelers did play poorly. But, it just shocks me that they couldn't score a TD after holding the Bengals to nothing but FG's ALL game long!

I am not shocked at all. Especially when Troy Polamalu went down again early in the game.

I don't think the Steelers played poorly at all. This was two of the top teams in the NFL battling it out, and the Special Teams TD was the decider. I know Frosty Rucker - and that defense is legit!

I think both teams make the playoffs and will meet again - maybe in the AFC Championship!

OK! That wasn't my point, but whatever...... I really didn't care who won this game, I was just merely stating what I saw! And what I saw was the Steelers layed poorly and their defense held the Bengals offense without a TD and visa-versa!

What a game.  And I have to throw this out there...the Steelers offense played poorly because the Bengals defense is for real.  They have never been known for good defense but when Marvin brought in Mike Zimmer that changed everything.  The Bengals offense played poorly too.  I give the credit too the Steelers defense for that, but the Bengals did hang in there even without Benson.  Whenever defense controls the game it looks like an ugly game.  Steelers fans should recognize that.

I know the kickoff return was the difference but Cincy's special teams played horrible!

Good game Steeler fans, I have a feeling they'll play again.

EXACTLY - the 2 defenses were 2 of the top defenses in the NFL. Did you expect a 35-34 game like the Pats - Colts? IF you did, then you did not manage your expectations well.

The Pats and Colts have mediocre defenses. The Steelers and Bengals do NOT. That's why I expect the AFC Championship to be a rematch of this game - except in Cincy!

This game was about 2 great defenses. Not 2 offenses being inept.

Pittsburgh's offense was inept as well.  It wasn't solely great defense yesterday, and I think anyone could've seen that.

Regardless of your subtle swipe, I would say that the mistakes the offense were no greater than they are on a normal week. What was greater this week was the defenses of both teams stepping up and making big plays.

Anyone could have seen THAT.

My point is you can't honestly say that the outcome of that game was solely because of defense.  The Steelers offensive line has played better than in recent years, but yesterday they had a pretty big breakdown.  I'm not even mentioning the special ed special teams, because I'm sure that's understood.  Both defenses played well, but does that mean the offense SHOULDN'T take any of the blame for some o-line blunders?  I would think if you're giving credit to the defense, you have to equally criticize Pittsburgh's offense, who did not play up to par at all yesterday.  It was not solely good defense, and that is a fact.

Wow, do you find blame with everything?

I CAN say that the game was decided solely on defense. And I WILL say it was decided on defense. You are not stating facts, and neither am I.

Please stop telling me I am wrong. I am not wrong and I am fine with my opinion. Be fine with yours and leave it at that. Your swipes about whether my statements are factual or wrong or what "anyone" would think are pathetic. Your attempts to marginalize my opinion is insulting. Is it because I am a young, intelligent woman?

Don't answer that. As a matter of fact, please do not reply to my comments. I have no interest in your opinions or comments.

Any other Steelers fans out there interested in a reasonable, non-insulting conversation / debate???

My biggest disappointment had to be the lack of enthusiasm on the Steelers bench. I haven't seen that kind of body language in a long time with this team.

Anyway, it's the Bengals division. They control their own destiny from here on out. Same with the Steelers. Have to keep in the wildcard race.

The Game was a defensive game all the way.....The fact is ..... The Steelers couldn't stop the Bengals from going past the line and sacking the QB....4 sacks made them nervous and control land slided to the Bengals to a very good victory over a team that was over confident with statistics. All of the cheers go to the leg man,and the one run back TD on special teams.Palmer was to pumped up,and threw the ball to hard in many cases.(That is something i am sure the coach will work on this week).Face it.....The Bengals are the real deal this year.Steeler fans need to face up to the fact they may only get one playoff game and then have to sit at home watching the Bengals on Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though Cincy beat the Steelers in both div matchups, if you look at the remaining games for BOTH teams & use the win/loss record(s) as a guide, Pittsburgh has the easier schedule. Though it is great to see our division come alive (with the exception of Cleveland, of course), Pittsburgh seems to have this "Rocky Belboa" effect where once you get them backed against the ropes = that's when they come out swingin the HARDEST! (ie; 2005, the 1st 6th seed EVER to win~out & go on to win the Superbowl). There's alot of factors to weigh in on this poll (injuries, etc), and Cincy seems VERY hungry this year, almost to the point of foaming at the mouth, so whichever team ends with the better record will certainly have earned it, but my money's on Pittsburgh (for what it's worth)

Very true.  The Bengals definitely have the harder schedule.  That's why the win in Pittsburgh was so big.  It pretty much gives them a two game lead in the division.

Now that the Bengals have signed LJ, the decline will start very soon.  this guy won't help as much as he will bury them.  too bad, I feel the Bengals had a chance if they stayed healthy.  Steelers are strong and will get stronger at the end of the season when the games really mean something.  At years end, same ole Bengals, and Chad will have to find another team if he wants a ring.
