Rich Rod Must GO! But Where?
It is embarrassing to be a Wolverine fan right now with this team and the Defense that Rich Rod is not interested in putting together, his offense, offense, offense mind has gotten the best of me and I am not watching anymore until he decides to get some defensive players or leaves and right now I hope he leaves or is shown the door.  So my question is where should he GO?

Sorry, i feel your pain, but how can you ask Michigan to start over once again, with a new staff, after only two years.
I have watched every game, and i simply believe that these players, especially on defense, are not coach able.
With the exception of Brandon Graham on defense, they are just not capable of understanding how, or what to do at the snap of the ball.
This is a young team, that's the excuse i hear from UM fans, and from some coaches. however, i really do believe that these guys just don't get it, and that is amazing, in the fact that they practice against the spread every day in practice.
Now, i would give you the names of the players that belong back in high school ball, but that would require going over the entire Wolverine defense, with, as i said earlier, the exception of Graham.
The players don't know were to line up on defense, they don't understand the defensive signals, and they break down at the snap of the ball.
Now, with all that said, i simply do not believe that Head Coach Rich Rodriguez must go. That just cannot happen. Now, do i think there will be mass changes in the off season.? Yes. But whatever the changes, i will support the Michigan Program, from the top down. Yes, that's right, i support the Michigan Football staff, the administration, and even the players. Why.? Because the Michigan Wolverines are my team, and they are my team, win, or lose, in good times, and in bad, just like they have been since i became a fan of the #1 ranked team in the land in 1976.
I have been a fan through great wins, and horrible losses, through Big Ten Championships, Rose Bowl Championships, a National Championship, and through 6-6 in 1984, kicking off to Rocket Ismail...again.!, Colorado, and Stewart to Westbrook, the resignation of coach Moeller, a 54-51  loss @ Northwestern...Appalachian State...and through it all, i am still, and always be, a fan of the Michigan Wolverines.
Go Blue.!

Coach Rodriguez has focused on offense and it has performed OK, but the defense has sufferred.  Until he gets a better defensive scheme and the players who can produce, we will be cursed with games like yesterday's 38-36 loss.  I agree with Big Blue that he still should get at least one more year to show his stuff.  Real progress must be made in 2010 - to me that means about 8-4 or better.  Of course a win vs. OSU this year will keep me on the bandwagon big time.  GO BLUE!

First of all I am a big fan, but disgusted with the way he is going.  Just building an offense and deciding that I will just play to outscore the other team is stupid.  Nothing is changing as of right now.............of the 20 verbal commitments for next year 7 are defensive players did you see that 7.........................  No one can tell me that watching them score and then watch the other team race right down the field and score is fun............Last year they lost to Toledo at HOME and that was the first ever MAC school to beat Michigan a couple of weeks later they(Toledo) fired their coach because they were so BAD..............they are losing to teams they seem to be taking for granted that they can beat and they can't............teams in the High School Playoffs here in Michigan probably could score on their D right now and yes I really believe that  from watching them.  I really believe that he thinks as long as HIS offense plays like he wants they will win despite the D.

michigan stunk before rich and will contue to stink after nd pu and iu rules 3everyone elses drools big ten wise especially michigan michigan state and ohio state yuckkkkkkk
#8 | 14 days ago

I'm a michigan state fan, and while I continually root for michigan's demise, its pretty evident that Rich Rod is not the man for this job. It was a major mistake to bring in someone that was going to attempt to overhaul the entire program with his version of the spread ... and as a result you've got a team that lacks any physicality whatsoever.

And that's carried over the defensive side of the football as well. I can understand some struggles on offense with a young QB, but there's no excuse for Michigan ever be as bad as they are on the defensive side of the football.

Jim Harbaugh will be the next coach.

Why, why could we not have got a coach who could walk in and beat Ohio?  That's all I ask for. That is really all I ask for every year. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE IT when we win against ND and Penn St.  and all the other Big 10 teams.

But for the love of God. If we go ten years without a win against Ohio, and it's looking like that could happen I'll loose my mind.

I won't switch teams. I'll forever be a Michigan Wolverine fan. No matter what.

But show me some love Mi. I need it.  I need it, like an addict needs his fix. I need a win against Ohio. And I need it NOW!

I have no love for Rich Rod. But he is what we got. For now.

Here's the problem with Rodriguez and Michigan..... The offense that Rodriguez has used in the past and continues to use today is only good if you have a college player with the abilities of Mike Vick or Tim Tebow and the like. Michigan does not have any of those type players and Rich Rod is either too stubborn to change or incapable of realizing it. Rodriguez was fortunate enuff to have those players in the past and run a "Wildcat" type offense that noone had seen yet and was successful, but just as the Dolphins are finding out... it doesnt take long for the opponents to figure it out and create schemes to stop it. Rich Rod apparently has no Plan B since the Michigan opponents have figured it out and like I said its not as effective if you dont have the personnel to execute it.
Bottom Line...... (2 points)
1. Rodriguez was IMO a flash in the pan... a one hit wonder.... and Michigan made a huge mistake by hiring him AFTER his 15 minutes of Fame had passed thinking that was gonna last.
2. Michigan fans want Championships. Rodriguez can win "games" with his style but not Championships. Gimmicks win games.... Defense wins Championships!

i would say keep him.
i'm a spartan though haha.
but seriously, putting that aside, he has improved from last year. he still isnt working with only his recruits though and that is hurting him. i think they should give him one or two more years to see what happens. if they were to have another 2 win season this year, i would say fire him. but they are looking at 5-8 wins.

He should have never left West Virginia.  He had it made there!  Now they definitely don't want him, Michigan doesn't want him, and no big time program will touch him!  I hope hope he likes taking a big pay cut because the only programs that will take him are small market teams!

Rich inherited a team that lost all of it's offensive and defensive studs we know this. After going 3-9 his first season he is currently 5-5 with a younger squad. That's improvement. Let him coach this team and he will show you that he is capable of restoring the luster of the Wolverine program. He also found a quarterback that will be able to run the squad the way Coach Rodriguez expects. By the way he is a true freshman. I guarantee that Coach will be able to beat Ohio State which plagued Coach Lloyd Carr Maybe not this season but we will mature, grow and learn Michigan football from Coach Rodriguez.

Good one Spoiled Gator fan...............................I would like the names of these stellar defensive players since he is not recruiting any.  Reading one of my posts earlier would show you that of 20 incoming verbals so far only 7 are defensive players yep only 7.  He doesn't care about defense...................................

That's your reply.?
Rich Rodriguez lead West Virgina back to National prominence as the Mountaineers head coach, you should be proud of what he did for the school.
West Virginia is not on the same level as Michigan, it's that simple.
You will see what a coach like Rodriguez will do with the University of Michigan Football program...he will have them playing for a National Championship within 5 years.
Go Blue.!

Your correct WVU isn't the same level as Michigan at (5-6, 1-6 Big Ten) and loosing 4 in a row, WVU   (7-3, 3-2 Big East), you are clearly right there are not on the same level WVU is far ahead. WVU Offense Ranking# 40 Michigan # 48 WVU defense ranking #43 Michigan #90. WVU ahead if Michigan no where on the same level numbers don't lie. Just saying.

I have an idea, send him to Notre Dame!

Michigan should have never forced Lloyd Carr out the door, he was a great coach!!! Rich Rod never showed me much when he was with West Virginia in the weak Big East.  It seemed like they lost every time they played in a big game.  I am a Penn State fan so I have enjoyed beating on Michigan for a few years, but the Big Ten as a whole needs Michigan to get better, give Rodriguez the boot!

They never should have hired him in the first place! It is, or soon will be obvious that he does not run a clean program (NCAA violations will hit this winter for excessive practices over summer, and boy did that pay off!) The way he left suspiciously from WVU, destroying all documents should have been a wake up to Michigan! Had Bo been alive, you would have seen a Michigan man in that position. The door is waiting Rich, Welcome to the FCS.
