Mini rant:

Those community advertising papers that get chucked in my yard every other day.  I don't want them. Stop littering my yard!
I've asked nicely, I've asked rudely.  Now it's on.  Be prepared to have them stockpiled and thrown back atcha.

Thank you for the early giggle, Marcademus. (Yes, 10:00 is early in my world.)

Went to a HS football game last night. My husband is an assistant coach, and our neighbors have a son who was playing so I went for moral support. It was fun, but cold. Any time we can see our breath is NOT a time to be outside for 3 hours. On the plus side, I got hot cocoa on the way home - they didn't have any at the concession stand...the eff? Anyway, the Red Devils (home team) thumped the visitors 65-20. And put one of their kids in the hospital. Crazy. I was really proud of the kids too, there were a few of them supporting Breast Cancer Awareness with pink socks and one guy even had pink high top shoes. I'd never seen that with HS kids before, and I thought that was pretty cool.

I'll be around today - hit me up if ya need anything.

Rant away L. It's a safe place for an open, free exchange of ideas and points of view, lol. On that note, I'm not overly concerned about GenMod produce, we've ALL been eating them for almost 20 years and "theoretically" much longer. Soybeans, corn, canola, etc. is the new saccharin / vaccine / cell phone brain cancer hysteria. Should they be labelled? Yes, of course.

The real concerns should be the effects it has on higher organisms like livestock (not yet consumer available) and how they are viewed as intellectual property by large corporations. This is going to be a monumental, perfect storm tipping point in world history. Let's say Cargill/Monsanto et al. continue mass producing GenMod foods that are now considered intellectual property, patented. Once they start breeding or pollinating with the rest of the food chain via mother nature (life will always find a way) now these huge corps can sue anyone based on a DNA test. Co-ops, local ranchers, your backyard garden are all subject to being legally screwed. Kind of like "food file sharing." Not good.

Also and more terrifying is modifying a higher organism (fish, poultry, beef, pigs, whatever) to be improved and RESISTANT TO VIRAL DISEASE. You think antibiotic resistant bird flu and swine flu pandemics are bad now, wait until those nasty organisms adapt GENETICALLY to survive. Life will find a way. Basically we're starting an arms race against nature which will be equipped with a self mutating possibly airborne, AIDS like nukes resulting in some kind of mutually ensured destruction. Not good.

Apart from that, I see no real reason to panic, lol.

Here is the real danger to what is being done to the foods--Companies like Cargill, Monsanto and Con Agra have been sterilizing the crops they sell to the farmers so that the crops won't re-seed like they used to, this in turn then forces the farmers to spend more money every year on the seeds to plant for the next year's harvest when the old method of non-steriized seeds were able to re-seed and grow on their own. There are far too many farms going under because of this problem in the name of Corporate Greed and has to stop because if it doesn't, then the housing bust of 3 years ago will only get worse because of all the farmers out of a job and home as well as the loss of trade revenue for this country due to our exportation of crops for supplies from other countries. That will be an economic disaster we most definitely won't ever get out from under if that happens.

Orioles Magic! Feel it happen!

So thanks to last night's latest bit of insanity (5.1 IP, 1 ER from Joe Saunders? Against that lineup?), I'm headed to Camden Yards tomorrow for Game 1 of the ALDS against the hated Yankees. If this a dream, don't wake me up.

One negative is the weather. It's going to be wet and cold. Plus, I'm already fighting a cold (just going to get lunch and go to the grocery store today wore me out). Thus, today's goal is to rest, and drink a lot of water and OJ.

Also sometime today I'll find out if I won the lottery to purchase ALCS tickets. Yes, that seems presumptuous, but it's the kind of planning that has to be done. Every other team left is doing the same thing.

congrats on Orioles finally playing meaningful October baseball in quite awhile. Not meant to be mean, honestly mean it. Question is, will the young pitching hold up in the playoffs under that kind of pressure?

All true.
It's already in the meat supply.   They are fed GMO grains.  If given a choice between non GMO and GMO, the animals pick the non.
It's in newborn babies.  It's in breast milk,  Baby formula is genetically modified soy.  The human experiment.
A lab in Canada was breeding hogs that would produce less sh*t.   Really.

A lot of GMO's don't need heavy feed curbs as additives, which act primarily as pesticides and artificial flavor/taste/appeal enhancers. They eat more before slaughter. I'm paraphrasing a Scientific American article (I think? maybe mental Floss? anyway...) So when done organically via sodium/sugars etc. the animals, like humans, develop a taste preference and possible addiction to it.

But that's my point. It's already everywhere and nothing has really changed. It's why I mentioned cell phones and brain tumors or the whole moronic vaccine hysteria that is now having devastating consequences. Even society as a whole is an inadequate sample size with an extremely short time frame. Canada, Europe, Japan, etc. have in some way or another been doing it for much longer than here. 20+ years means nothing in "natural" genetic distribution cycle. All those isolated studies out there by the corporations (good) and some independents (bad) really don't prove or mean anything. Yet. Not actually knowing doesn't mean mean doom or boom.

Now, having the grain ingested into the meat supply is one thing, modifying the meat supply is a whole other can of killer worms. Canada, for better or worse, has been leading the way. Google David Suzuki and get some of his awesome show "The Nature of Things" It's what i grew up on. His work on genetics eventually led to him realize he was the next 'Oppenheimer" while he was working on a fruit fly Manhattan Project funded by the powers that be.

A thread hijack involving a feasible flat tax plan with a Grandfather provision for the upper / lower most incomes which won't affect the overall revenue intake or need, based on Mandelbrot indicators instead of the prevalent Gaussian distribution model?

That's because Hockey takes a back seat to Football, in the U.S.

And it's because us Hockey fans are getting tooo used to this! 2x in the past 7 years!  It's going to take a few years to get the fan base back, if this season is cancelled.
