A very elderly couple is having an elegant dinner to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. The old man leans forward and says softly to his wife, "Dear, there is something that I must ask you. It has always bothered me that our tenth child never quite looked like the rest of our children. Now I want to assure you that these 75 years have been the most wonderful experience I could have ever hoped for, and your answer cannot take that all that away. But, I must know, did he have a different father?"

The wife drops her head, unable to look her husband in the eye, she paused for moment and then confessed. "Yes. Yes he did."

The old man is very shaken, the reality of what his wife was admitting hit him harder than he had expected. With a tear in his eye he asks, "Who? Who was he? Who was the father?"

Again, the old woman drops her head, saying nothing at first as she tried to muster the courage to tell the truth to her husband. Then, finally, she says: "You."

I wanted to kick my principal in the knees yesterday. I had a meeting after school with a parent. It went 1 hour and 37 minutes because she "didn't want to take up all my time" on a Friday. Gee thanks. indecision I love staying after school... meeting with one parent till after 5. Those 4 piles of assessments that needed to be graded, the homework needing to be put together, and the normal clean up stuff for after school could wait. I love doing that sh*t on the weekend at home. LOVE. IT. indecisionMy principal had promised to "save me" at 4. He didn't and now I wish him a crappy weekend and loss of cable right when The Walking Dead is about to come on.

I just finished blueberry pancakes shaped like boobs. Neeners.

Ugh. Yesterday was a long day: Left my place at 7 am, and didn't get home again until 2:30 am the next day, all to get kicked in the figurative nuts twice.

The 2012 Orioles was a helluva ride, and easily my favorite O's team ever in my lifetime. It sucks to have the ride end against the MF'ing Yankees, but what are you going to do? (As I said after Game 3, it's not like divine intervention was going to happen.) They had their chances and couldn't convert. Still, given I predicted them on this site to win 58 games, it's safe to say they exceeded even my wildest expectations. It's been a great ride and a special season, and for once, I'm excited for next season. There's some work to be done, but you can start to see the pieces being put together.

Then there was my night at Nationals Park. Sure started great, didn't it?  I'm still kind of in shock with what happened, as I'm sure everyone else that was there and Nats fans watching on TV were. Everyone will bleat Strasburg, because sports commentary is mostly a collection of simpleton, and yes he probably would've helped, but in the end, it was an offense that shut down after going up 6-0, the team's actual best starter this season imploding in the 5th, and a bullpen that couldn't hold it from there, including a closer meltdown. Also, the Cardinals are some kind of charmed.

So, baseball in person ends for me this year, and it might be a few days before I can watch the LCS's. Really hoping for a Giants-Tigers World Series, but well, I'm used to getting what I want.

Now to actually get my day started. Didn't fall asleep til 3 am, and I'm still tired. Such is the ride that is playoff baseball. It ended poorly, but now that I finally got a taste of it, I want to get a taste again as quickly as possible.Oh

Oh, almost forgot, who would have thought that the Orioles would only have the *3rd* most painful LDS defeat this year?

Kevin, I will take very good care of you today.

Nyce, I'm glad I got to see your post before JessBot arrived.
<Is anyone really enforcing the CoC anymore?>

Awwww, Kramer.  The Louisville football team were such rude guests in Heinz Field today.  But I'm not complaining.

Today was the Red-White Scrimmage at the Yum! Center.  Festivities started at 11 as the football team took the field.  The game was broadcast on the jumbotron outside, with a bouncy house for the kids and concessions (complete with adult beverages).  After the game was a pep rally for the basketball team, and then the doors opened for the scrimmage.  Pretty fun day all around.

The old saying is baseball will never love you the way you love baseball. You know how I know that's true? Well, if you had ask me to rank the teams in the Division Series in order of who I wanted to win it all, this is how I would've ranked them:

1. Baltimore
2. Washington
3. Cincinnati
4. Oakland
5. Detroit
6. San Francisco
7. St. Louis
8. New York

I rest my case,

Today is a middle finger to the world kind of day.  I think only the severe weather we're expecting later can soften my mood a little.  Or my Qhusband.  Sigh.  (Kevin, what about the Irish?  The defense came through.  Again.  And I'm glad I made it through the evening without spoiling it for you).

I hope I make it home in time today to see some of my Fantasy Football opponent's team turned into pancakes.  Wait a minute.  Who is my opponent?  Do I like them?  Do I like their players?  Never mind.  That doesn't fit my mood today.

Do they allow alcoholic beverages inside funeral homes, cuz I'm going to need some to deal with the fam today.  Time to stitch my mouth shut and smile and wave.

Tuck a flask into a garter under your dress and make frequent visits to the bathroom. No one will know!

It appears that they make garters for just that intended purpose.

I will take it, they have a championship caliber defense. If they are truly going to do anything special. The offense needs to make more plays and play more consistently. I understand that Golston is basically a freshman(6th start, ran scout offense last year). But there are a lof of others that could step up and play more consistently.

Morning all.  Didn't sleep as well as I had hoped.  Rainey day today, and my son heads out to camp for 3 weeks this afternoon.  I'll miss him a lot!   I'm glad he's getting this opportunity tho.  Cooking him a farewell lunch before he goes, roast beef with all the trimmings.

Now I need to watch some football.

There once was pirate captain who, whenever it looked like a battle would be imminent would change into a red shirt. After observing this behavior for a few months, one of the crew members asked him what it meant.

"It's in case I get shot. I don't want you crew members to see blood and freak out."

"That's very sensible, sir." At that moment, the crew member spotted eight hostile ships on the horizon. The captain all of a sudden looked very concerned.

"Get my brown pants."

I don't really enjoy hugs much, so save them for someone who does.  There are few people in the world who are allowed to go there with me.  And probably only two people on this site would be allowed to cross that line.  One, because I think we could be related.  The other, well, he's my Qhusband.  He's definitely allowed.

A baby shower and a funeral home in one day has been almost too much to handle.  My uncle's funeral is tomorrow at 11.  Then my aunt (opposite side of the family) will be buried on Tuesday.  The good thing is that I often forget how much I love my cousins until we all get together.  If anyone talked about any of us the way we are allowed to, I would throat punch them.  My side hurts from us all laughing at the good times together.  And calling each other out on sh*t.  And on the things we've inherited from our grandmother through our parents.

And one thing has made me smile today...
