i don't know how Ortiz can be picked as best DH at this time, he is deffinetly not the threat he used to be and is not making any kind of contact at crucial times. Voting is done by what the player is doing at the moment, not over his career. Though I don't like Matsui, he is producing better at this time. Just as veritek against Posada. In career, Posada may get nod but not at this moment. Vote with the performance, not with your hearts.

Posada is always injured, Big Papi is getting there, and Kevin Youkilis is a gold glover and is pretty close to the level of Mark.

you lost all cred. when you said Cano is better then pedroia. Frankly, I dont even think its close anywhere but first base, and I almost picked youk.

OK Die hard fans, Ortiz better? his .189 average so NOOOOOO but he does break a mean bat! Posada? hasn't played since May 4th! would'nt you have to actually play to be the better player?

I'd take Crawford and Upton over any Red Sox or Yankees OF's: They are both better defensively than anyone on the Yankees or Sawx and frankly, it's not even close. Crawford and Bay are different animals at the plate: if you need a guy to score you a run it's CC, to drive in a run: Bay.

I agree Mark I would take Crawford or Upton over any of them How bout the awesome catch Crawford made in AllStar Game Yep that says it all

Crawford and Upton come through on defense and offense so I agree there sin't no better than them too Crawford proves it in ALL STAR game with an awesome catch to ROB the homerun

Im a giant Yankee fan so I pretty much said everyone for the Yankees. Almost everyone. I think Dustin Pedroia has a little bit more talent. I tried to be  honest with the poll but everything kept draging me to the Yankees. Once a Yankee fan, always a Yankee fan.

LOL ALEX is better then Justin Morneus Joe Mauer and Derek Jeter if you don't think he is you never seen him play he is one of the top two baseball players in the game his number are scary good he a few homerun short of everyone and he did it in less time and he already has more RBI's then Derek Jeter also home runs and he been very clutch and he hits the ball as good or better then anyone else in the American League if you don't think so you really don't have a clue also he plays a harder fielding postion well beside catcher but no catcher can be as good as a infielder

stricltly by numbers this year.  cano had a better year then pedroia, ortiz and matsui were about even, bay was better then damon,  tex was better then youk like it or not sox fans dont hate cause he didnt sign with you, ellsbury aint great but gardener doesnt play everyday, posada is leaps and bounds better then varitek (hits, homers, rbi, defense) it aint even close.  varitek calls a better game and thats it. its not even up for debate who has the better overall catcher.  people shade to their favorites which is unfair.  lets be realistic about this though

I can understand a lot of things, but I can't seem to find why the unbiased baseball fan in Boston wouldn't take Posada, Teixiera, and Matsui over Ortiz, Varitek, and Youkillis.  I can understand the Youkillis/Teixiera discussion.  You can't go wrong with either guy at 1st Base.  Get a grip Sox Nation!  A couple of years ago there would be no comparison when Papi and Tek were playing out of their cleats, but today is a different story.

While I am very happy that Tek and Papi have given me great enjoyment watching them play in the Red Sox uniform, I have to face facts that Posada and Matsui today are the better choices.  Posada, although having injury problems of his own, has given the Bombers better stability behind the dish and a consistant bat in the line up.  Matsui is definately a better choice for the simple fact that he can play defense on a near daily basis and has always had a solid stick at the plate.

So, in my mind, there really is no discussion here!  Tek and Ortiz, although having had fine years with Boston, are today second fiddle to Posada and Matsui.

I disagree on only one point.... I think Varitek is a better catcher then Posada.  I would agree Varitek's bat has dropped of the last couple of season but his value with the pitching staff is incredible......

Ortiz is washed up. Maybe he can go to the Dodgers with Manny and bring the Dodgers down worse then they are now

Right, but the freaking MOMENT Carl Crawford becomes either a Yankee or Red Sox then he will be hailed as one of the best players in the majors...hilarious

I agree with you on Tek's handling of pitchers. He is without a doubt the best in this part of his game. He just needs to find a bat that works! Maybe he should be allowed to use an alluminum bat! LOL!

The Yankees have the better players in the infield, the Red Sox have the better outfield and the pitching is relatively a wash!
