I've never had that happen to me... they would be welcomed however and I know I would roll with it.  I don't really know how to help place a time-line on it without more information.

Face it Eletha!  They didn't come for a visit....they have moved in.  It took you how many years to get them to leave before? Sorry my dear friend, but I'm afraid you are in for a long winters nap with them!

Nope bought a two bedroom house for that very reason. I love my mom but in small doses. Good God we would kill each other.

Depends on which member or members of my family it was. If it is my dad, he can stay for as long has he wants and i have even asked him a hundred times if he wanted to move to my house, but he is Mr. independant and has always declined.

If it's my brothers or sister i can handle it for maybe a couple weeks tops. If they say they want to stay longer i will and i have told them to get a hotel room if they wanna stay longer. Cold? yes. But to hell with it, they should have asked me befor they ever came  to see me.

Since I'm a social animal i would love to and wouldn't mind to have my parents (and family) over for a pretty long time (though thats not possible). Besides, being a lazy @$$, my cooking problem would be solved and I would not have to miss my wife & kid so much...

Depends - My Mom can stay as long as she wants to.  Other family members, perhaps one night, tops.  Friends up to a week, unless they are in trouble and have no where else to go.

My wife and I took care of her grandmother for years. Can't say I enjoy the prospect of doing that again, but I imagine some day we will. Just have to roll with what happens and with what you can live with.

My mom and step-dad are coming next week to stay with us for 3 weeks. We have a 4-bedroom house for that reason. My mom cooks and cleans despite my protesting... and she leaves through the week to visit my brother and sister... And an added bonus is that she loves my daughters and wants them with her as much as possible... allowing mommy and daddy to get away for a few hours! Woohoo!

Friends--a long weekend camping is awesome.

Family--anything longer than what it takes me to gulp a Slurpee is too long--and the brain-freeze is the most enjoyable part of the visit!

I agree with you 100%,  My parents are both gone and both died in my arms<I'm not asking for pity>. Mama passed this past Mother's day.  I've also lost a daughter .  I have three people older than I am in the direct family line.. 2 of Daddy's sisers and one of Mama's brothers.  So Yes Family is super important andI'd welcme any of them.
