Who Should Speak Last?
Next year both Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So the big question is who speaks last? Obviously, I expect Cowboy fans and 49er fans to go with their guy, so why does your player deserve to speak last. Don't just say "because he played for my team" and please don't just bash the other team and fans. Both these guys have always showed class let's honor them and conduct ourselves in the same way.

Wow! This is a tough one. Both were on Dancing with the Stars so I can't use that one unless you want to give Emmitt a point for actually winning. hmmm! Then you have both players with outstanding numbers from playing on two outstanding teams, yet both ended their careers on some pretty sorry teams (Raiders and Cardinals).

I say they rock paper scissors and best out of three speaks last.

****(I picked Emmitt because I can't pick a 49er, it goes against everything I believe. lol)

Currently researching a defense for why it should be Emmitt over Jerry. I will be back to post an answer. Dancing with the Stars and how they finished will NOT have anything to do with my answer.

They should have an official pick a number between 1 and 10, then have Emmitt and Jerry pick a number.  Whoever is closer to the number the official picked goes last.  Either way, they are two class acts who had outstanding careers and are much deserving of the HOF.  I picked Emmitt because of the physicality of being a running back, the pounding they take each game, and the longevity of his career.  No disrespect to Jerry

I have a non-bias partake on this.
They both have three rings each, but Emmitt playing for the Cardinals and Rice with the Seahawks didn't help them end off their careers. Rice is regarded as the greatest Wide Receiver ever while Emmitt is overshadowed by other greats, such as Payton and Sanders. Overall I'm going to say it's a draw.

Got to go with Rice, if for no other reason than the WR position is more exciting to me to watch.  Both are excellent examples of their respective positions, and it doesn't really matter to me who speaks when....

It has to be Rice.... first because Rice is almost universally considered to be the best WR in NFL history, there isn't really much debate that another WR might be better. But with Smith, there are several RB's that many people consider better. Many people say that Jim Brown was better, or Barry Sanders, or Walter Peyton. But really with Rice that argument isn't ever made.

Second, look at the stats. Rice was a 13 time Pro Bowler, Smith was a 8 time Pro Bowler.  Rice was a 12 time all-pro selection, Smith was a 5 time all-pro selection. Rice is on both the 1980s All Decade Team and the 1990s All Decade Team, Smith is only on the 1990s All Decade Team.... Rice has 208 career TD's and is the NFL's all time leader in TD's, Smith has 175 which is 2nd to Rice...

So Smith, IMO, is 2nd to Rice and should go first and Rice should go last.

It is a tough question, but I will say Jerry Rice simply because he absolutely dominated his position for so many years. Emmitt Smith does have the most rushing yards in NFL History, but in my heart of hearts, I don't feel that he was the greatest player to play his position as Jerry Rice was at his. Either way, both are class acts and are great examples of how the game should be played.

Personally I'd like Tim Brown to go last. Since that is not an option I'll go with Jerry Rice because he did play for the Raiders for a short time.

I would say Jerry Rice!

I loved them both on Dancing With the Stars. Maybe they should draw straws?

I am not a fan favorite of either of their teams, but the fact remains that each was (no, is) the best ever to play at their respective positions. Even though Emmitt won DWTS, Rice was a finalist. (Do I lose man Man Card for knowing that?) I really can't say. I would even bet if you asked them, they would both vote for the other one. They're both such class acts too. Either way you can't go wrong!!

That sums it up. No one can intelligently make a case for anyone over Rice. It's impossible. Emmitt, on the other hand, actually has peers at his position. There are people who compare to him. Rice is in a league of his own.

i don't really want Emmitt to even speak, so...

Can he just do some running drills and dance around instead of actually trying to make a speech. *sigh*
