he's great n all but he only has one super bowl ring and he's thrown more picks than anybody else n HISTORY so i say he's top five material but thats it. You got Marino, Young, Montana, Staubach, Namath, i'll even say Bart Starr over him

I like the way Brett plays the game and he is in the top ten for his passion and his most consecutive starts!  He plays the game the way it was meant to be played, or least, how I learned to play it.  It can be fun and a job at the same time!

I'm a total homer and I'll admit that freely.  IF he guides the Vikes to a Super Bowl victory, I'll rank him #1!

He'll have the stats at the top in every category, he'll have 2 rings and he'll have done the impossible.  Win a Super Bowl with the Vikings...

Brett is the best QB of all time he holds almost every record there is including most int but still when u put up those kind of numbers who is going to argue and at least he has more ring's than marino he should not be judge by how many Superbowl his team has one it is on a individual performance and there is no one better..... he is still a trader and i hope the pack send him into retirement this weekend .

Concerning Brett Favre, I commend him for the comeback and the TD play but I don't think Greg Lewis got enough credit for his catch.  They just gave ALL the praise to Favre...

He might be a good QB, but when it comes to being decisive, he doesn't have it, so therefore if he's not a good man to make a decision and stick to it, and stand by his word, then he isn't good enough to be a QB of a team and to lead a team!! It just isn't right and it isn't MANLY!

What criteria are you using? If just stats, He would have to be No.1; If play on the field (what I used), Top 5; he leads teams forward, he has the Big 4 QB stats., he has won a SB( tied with Staubach, Namath, Dawson and I believe Stabler) and appeared in another. How many 4th quarter comebacks? 40? Who do you think made Sterling Sharpe, Sterling Sharpe? or Donald Driver, Donald Driver? He made Mike Holgrem look like a Super Coach (How about them Seahawks!). People "hate" him because of his off field activities which have very little to do with his job as a QB. Please folks judge him on what he does on the field not how he can't make a retirement decision.

So for 16 years he was good but now he can't lead a team? If that was the case why did his GM in Green Bay make stipulations in the Jets trade he couldn't be traded to Minn.? I'm sorry but he can still lead a team and GB front office knew it otherwise why would they care if he went to Minn.?

His actions as of late have tainted my thoughts on Brett. I had always been a fan of him but since he has started this yo-yo mentallity I have knocked him out of the top ten. A QB needs to be a leader on and off the field so what kind of example is he setting didnt get what you want oh well retire and come back when you can get what you want.

Everyone has an opinion and we must agree to disagree....I just think he shows his leadership on the field which is backed up by comments of his past and current teammates. I invite you took take another look at what and how exactly everything went down starting at the end of the 2007 season in Green Bay.

Bret  needs to retire and learn how to stay retired. What this makes 6 times he has retired, what the deal. /stay booboo stay Forget the stats some people are just tired of him period,  if you say you're going to do something just be like MIKE and  JUST DO IT already  and if you're not quit saying( I"M  RETIRING AGAIN)  Let's make it final.

Not before Brady
#25 | 50 days ago

He breaks a lot of individual records because he has played a long time (many years). In term of ability to consistently lead the team to wins (arguably the most important measure of a QB), there are many more QB's better, to name a few: Staubach, Brady, Montana, Aikman, Unitas, Bradshaw, Elway.

the stats  are there   but  you  must  look  at the  entire  package    ---  joe montana   rodger stabach   and terry  bradshaw    joe namiath    ---  if  he  had  to  compete  agaenst  these  guys   i  dont  know  if  he  could  of  held  up  ----   the  defences   were  alot  tougher  back  then!!!!

Even though he won tonight, it still puts alot of doubt towards him being able to still do the job. If I had a sergeant that was that indecisive, I probably would've smacked him upside the head!

I must have been watching a different game.......3 TDs, 0 int., 270+ yards passing,  where was the indecision?

Drop and give me 20 for that statement.......LOL

He's my fave QB, but his passion for winning can get him into trouble quite often. His eyes are at times bigger than his stomach, which is why I love him so, but taking risks messes up the stats sometimes, so I can't in all honesty name him the greatest ever, but lord knows I want to.

Longevity aside, he is one of the best if not the best at improvising when a play breaks down ( compareable to Elway). Arm strength, right with Marino. Leadership, no one touches Johnny U! Ability to change a teams attitude ( remeber what the Jets were before he got there?) and what he is doing in Minn. making everyone on both sides better. He has got to be top three
Johnny U-1
Favre-2
Tarkington-3
Montana-4

you neglected to mention one thing- who would you have handed the ball off to? do you remember the running Backs that he had to work with in GB? I can't. The fact that it was given to him to win it tells alot.

fyi, ahman green who was always hurt. great running back for the 3 games a season he was available for. and i think najee davenport was the fullback. he was decent, too i guess if you ignore the fumbles.

you know what bothers me most about packers fan, i being one of them, but i dont live there, is the fact that you all loved and adored brett as a qb but now too many packers fans hate him. Brett loved yall but he was kinda mistreated by corporate so you all should not have turned on him personally in my opinion. I know you have to hate the vikings, thats a part of the game, but personally speaking, it seems like you all devoloped a serious hate and disrespect for a man who was a great leader for the team. It amazes me everytime i see favre haters from green bay. People say what they will about his age and retirement issues, but he was good to yall and it took only a hot second to throw him to the wolves. i was very disappointed and shocked by that. i thought he would have been one of those great players who received a warm reception from most, not all, when he returned green bay.  so sad.

He might be in the top three during the regular season, but when playoffs come, his interceptions have cost him a lot of playoff wins.  If not for Reggie White running the defense, his Super Bowl win might not have happened.

when you throw more passes and are put in more positions than anyone you are more likely to throw more picks then anybody. he ALSO threw more touchdowns then anyone in history. more passing yards then anyone in history. more completions then anyone in history. should i go on? only quarterback in history to beat all 32 teams. 3x league MVP. should i keep going at all the positive things he has done?

Easily top 3!  Very few experts would even try to disagree!

Not wanting to retire is something EVERY pro has to deal with, whether they're Flutey Flakes or Smokin Joe!  If him not retiring actually had anything to do with his ability to lead, than the Vikings wouldn't have been pressing him to NOT retire!

Whether you're a computer salesman or a postal clerk, everyone wants to leave their job believing they went out at the peak of their performance!  He finally got a shot to play on a team with, arguably the best runningback, and with a solid D!  Trent Dilfer would've given up his position in the booth to jump on the shot to play in Minnesota had it been swung his way!!  So, it's not a knock on Favre, even the least bit, that he opted not to retire once again!

AND ... the fact that his team is still undefeated only solidifies his choice!  I feel kind of sorry for the man, because even if he does win the Superbowl this year, and even if he is named the League MVP and Superbowl MVP, he'll still go down in the books by many D-bag fans who are simply butt hurt that he couldn't make up his mind about whether he was done playing or not.

He's going to the Hall!  And, if you were to ask Montana himself, he'd probably say something along the lines of, "Well, you know, I could never throw a ball as far him, nor could I even expect to roll out to the right and lob a pass into a covered receiver's hands down the left sideline, sooooooooooooooo ... in that regard, AT LEAST, ... he's great!"

You speak the truth! More people need to be as open minded as you.If I was Brett ,I'd question retirement,as long as he can enjoy the game and the team he's with...why retire. I like his attitude on the field, always smiling.
