If you had a son (or daughter)?
If you had a son, and that son was an excellent athlete.  Let's say an amazing basketball player..  Would you let them play for a fiery figure like Bobby Knight?  A coach who, although he has been known to throw chairs, headbutt players, and cuss out students, is a great coach.  A molder of boys to men.  A person who graduates studet athletes from college at a much higher rate than some other, well known, and fiery coaches.  What would you do?

I realize that you son or daughter is now at an age where they can probably make a good decision for themselves at this point.  I think I would like the idea of my son (if I had one) going to play for coach Knight.  He is a disciplinarian, he expects more from most than they expect from themselves, and he pushes kids to their limits.  he graduates student athletes a high rate and sends them into the world ready for what it might bring..  I say let him go..  But with the caveat that if he lays a hand on my child he better watch his back..

I'd absolutely let my son or daughter play for Bobby Knight.  It's his/her choice in the end, and I'd know that my kid's coach is making them the best player and person they can be.  Yes, Bobby has been known to be fiery, but he's the all-time winningest coach in men's college basketball.

I have watch the general sence he came to I U and he had  firm way of coaching.I respected for coach knight, either you love him or you hate him,he makes young men in to respectable adults.Basket ball is not the only reason you go to indiana .The coach  would push for perfection good habits if you goofed off the coach would tell them in his own way.The problem with the end of knight coaching is the kids are lazy ,they just can not handle some body telling them the truth making them accountable for there action.Life is tuff get use to it .On the eight day god made basketball then he needed  real man who coach with a iron fist.then came BOBBY KNIGHT!!!!!

For me this ones easy. Bob Knight is family to me so I say yes. Even if he weren't family though I would let him because Bob is a great molder of young minds and he would help better prepare my son for the real world which is much harsher than getting yelled at for making a mistake in a basketball game.

I would have to say yes, I would never hold my child back because of my dislikes. That would be like saying I do not want my son to play football because I do not want them hurt! ( I do not have a son, darn it) I do love football hope the grandson gets into sports so I can go be a big fanatic grandma!

Well if it was MY son/daughter, they would already be used to discipline and "fieryness" from my own personality- so absolutely I would!

I don't think my son or stepson could play for coach Knight without punching him in the face.

Vinnie, mine would also, plus the odds are they would get their degree.
