Do you think Junior Seau Should Have Came Out Of Retirement Again?
Do you think Junior Seau Should Have Came Out Of Retirement Again? Photo
Well it seems that Junior Seau has come out of retirement for the 3rd time.  He has 13 seasons with the San Diego Chargers, 3 with the Miami Dolphins, and will be in his 4th season with the New England Patriots.  I personally think he will be a hall of famer in the future but does he need to just let it go?  Junior might not know what to do with his life, obviously him getting run over by that bull wasn't enough.  He has had a concussion before and most that have had an experience with that say that you shouldn't go back.  I'm not sure how much he will impact the Patriots but now retired LB Teddy Bruschi has retired before this season  and also has experienced a concussion.  Junior is 40 years old and this will be his 20th NFL season.  Please vote and voice your comments

With his presence and hard work Junior will not only make a difference playing again but he will instill in the rookies and his teammates in general his love of the game and fierce determination as a player is something this team needs to see and emulate. I have never seen Junior hold back or not take the hit when he had to. His presence alone will mean a whole lot more than many of you think. He may be older but if that's whatt it takes to be the kind of player he is there is nothing but good that can come form it.

u may wanna CHECK UR FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!! i only read the first 2 sentences of ur paragraph and its all wrong. Junior did not play on the Pats Super Bowl run from 2002-2005. he played with the Chargers/Dolphins while the Pats won all those Super Bowls. he then signed a one-day contract w/the Chargers so he could retire a Charger on August 14, 2006. Four days later he came outta retirement to sign w/the Pats. then he played w/the the Pats for 3 seasons.

then on Oct 7, 2009 the NFL Network reported that the New England Patriots had an "agreement in principle" with Seau for a one-year deal. he officially signed w/the Pats on Tues Oct 13, 2009.

not sure if he is Hall of Fame quality. that is for the experts to decide.

Thanks for that, I completely forgot about him playing on the Dolphins so my bad on that so it's corrected now.  Yea that is actually my opinion that he will be in the hall of fame but i'm about 95% sure he will make it.

There was a REASON why he retired to begin with!  Yes, he WAS a great Linebacker for quite some time but age and injuries took their toll on his body. I really don't think he will make any kind of difference in the Patriots defense and will end up riding the pine for most of the season. I really don't feel that a 40 year old linebacker will have much impact in the NFL and I think he would have learned that from his good friend Zach Thomas- but I guess not!  Good luck to him though as he IS a USC Alumni and I hope he doesn't get hurt.

Ah ha!  Another poll where we can disagree!

Junior Seau will absolutely make a HUGE difference for the Patriots defense and here is why; look at who the Patriots lost on the "D" side of the ball after last season - Bruschi, Harrison, Seymour, Vrabel and Seau.....  that is a huge loss of experience and leadership to lose all at once.  Junior Seau is one of the smartest, hardest working players in the league.  He will lead my example on the practice field and the game field and help the Patriots very young defense learn how to dominate and how to approach each game.  He will have this impact whether he plays ONE snap on the game field or not.....

Seau will unquestionably be a Hall of Famer.... not because of what he did with the Patriots but what he did when he was with San Diego..... in his day he was one of the most feared linebackers in the league.....

Anyway.... that is my biased Patriots fan point of view.

O.K.;  Hey I like Seau- he WAS a great player and a USC GREAT!  No need to argue over that. As far as his leadership- he is awesome as well- but  the Patriots are a veteran team filled with leaders. Will he HELP the Patriots on the field? VERY DOUBTFUL!

The only reason I say that Vinnie is the defense looked quite hapless this year and it was punctuated by them not being able to stop the Broncos last week.  I guess I have to admit that the Broncos are a quality team but in seasons past, the Pats defense would have held that lead.  I will have to do more research on the roster (embarrassed to say I don't know enough about the total roster to say right now) but they lost a lot of experience on "D".

He may not help a lot, as you say, but I will certainly say having him there won't hurt!

I never said that he would hurt the team, but for people to think he is going to be some HUGE asset is kind of ridiculous. He is a 40 year old Linebacker with NO speed anymore......He may add a little depth, but he will not be an impact player at all.

I agree about the on field aspect of his game.... but some guys are just great leaders and will cause others to run through walls for them.  I'm not sure what it is....

I will reference my point this way, and Vinnie, being a Vet you may have seen this, but to this day, this is the only person I can say this about.....

I have a friend Chris Manly..... he is Army Reserve (I believe, could be Marine Corp reserve) and he has been activated and he has done two tours in Iraq (both times being away for over a year) and I have heard rumors that he will be called back to do another tour.  He is a school teacher and a soccer coach.  I was lucky enough to be able to coach with him and see how his quiet confidence was exuded all around him... likable but also had an authority about him...... and I said on many occasions that if I was in the field with him, I would run through walls with/for him.  I see Junior as that type of personality.

So all the points you make are very valid, the only thing I will say is, this was the first week he was back and the defense had an awesome game...... probably a coincidence but I think he will be helpful with his intangibles.....

I understand what you are saying about his leadership- the Cowboys got "one of those guys" a few years ago named Zach Thomas. And yes, he did bring some "maturity and leadership" to the team- but his physical attributes were seriously lacking and that's what I feel is going to happen to Junior- that's all.....  And YES, the Pats Defense did play well today ( but EVERY defense that have played against the Titans this year have played well) -  Tom Brady lit up the scoreboard- NOT the Defense- in fact, the Pats only scored 7 points after Brady left- coincidence?

Probably not a coincidence they only scored 7 points....... I am surprised that Brady took one snap in the second half......

He is one of the best linebackers of all time. At age 40 all he can really do is teach the younger guys. The game is getting to fast for 40 year old defensive players.
