Trick or Treat~
So I was at the store the other night looking at the rows and rows of candy on the shelves trying to figure out.. what can I get for the kids in my neighborhood with out spending a ton, and not getting eggs later that night.

Then I was thinking about the houses I would hit up a few times cause they gave out cans of pop( soda, cola, fizzy lifting drink) or WHOLE candy bar.( screw fun size, these were AWESOME sized) Then I remember the houses we would skip because they gave out those gawd awful peanut butter crap, or boxes of raisens.

My parents would give out twizzlers and Nestle Crunch cause this was their favorite candy.

So here are a few 'Halloween' questions for you.

Chocolate candy bars, black licorice, I only give out candy bars. I have a haunted house every year and dress up, my house is very popular. We usually go on a hay ride and trick or treat..

I still dress up every year and take my kids out trick-or-treating. Not only do I dress up, but I also have my own pillow case and go to the doors to get candy. Back in NY, it was a gurantee to either be cold and rainy or freezing and snowy. Now in TN, it varies each year...

1. like I said above there were houses that would hand out full sized candy bars.
2. um, take a guess...
3. after my mo checked it for knives and needles I would sort it by types of candy, and then sometimes by the candy itself.
4. I hand out a lot of chocolate but then I also but animal crackers, goldfish, and saf-t-pops for the really little kids.  Granted I know that the toddling duck coming at me with her gummy smile and princess bucket is only getting candy for her dad, I like to give treats that she can eat too.
5. There was this house that was about a mile away from my house that would hand out full sized candy bars, the line to the house would go down the drive way, me and my friends would trade bags and anything that would let them know it was us.. again...
6. I stopped going with my friends when I was about 13, but then I started to nanny, they had a party every year, I always hand a gaggle of kids to take out, except '91 don't get me started on that disaster.
7. fine get me started... it was a huge blizzard!  it was horrible..blah.. but its not unheard of to snow.  We usually have it above freezing, for a little while.
8. I dont dress up, I also don't like going out..The last time I dressed up for halloween was when i was working, I wore jeans I was a dress code violator. ( PARTY POOPER) I know..

The best thing about having young kids is you get to raid their candy!

I will be taking my kids trick or treating till their 24!

When I was a kid, there was an old lady who lived at the end of a very long driveway with trees on both sides and it looked haunted.  No one would go up there but my brother and I went up there and she gave us those large Clark bars.  When we came back that way, we stopped a second time and she said we were the only ones she saw that night and she gave us 20 large Clark bars.  We had candy for a long time.  Another house would give out popcorn balls, you can't do that anymore.

I don't have kids, but I like to be thought of as the house to go to for trick or treaters..  I get the bigger candy bars, but I also make sure I Get what I like if I have leftovers

And for you people that gave out apples, toothbrushes, pennies, and/or candy corn for trick or treaters, you are awful people and shouldn't even answer the door

pls do not give out that stupid candy corn. candy bars are the best way to go (kit kats, baby ruths, or twix's). if you give the snack size, pls give me more than 2. My fave is a handful of jolly ranchers and starburst though. twizzlers suck almost as much as much as candy corn and that chewy mess in the black wrapper with no name.

I always loved getting Snickers/Twix , and i hated to get tootsie rolls or gum. Im a halloween fan so i enjoy the whole process of costumes and handing out candy. Like to hand out candy bars (twix/snickers) cause thats what i enjoy and big lollipop's or gummy bears for the non chocolate lovers. Most say halloween is for kids and its a joy seeing them enjoy it , but its even better when you can still enjoy it as an adult at the same time. Plus the night before halloween party and a viewing of "Halloween" the movie is always a "treat" in itself !

Happy Halloween everyone , hope you all enjoy

I LOVED getting chocolate (still do). There was a house in the neighborhood that had an older couple. She would make popcorn balls....YUMMO!!! We always looked forward to it. She was the nicest lady around! We would also go by 3 businesses that would give out candy. The local bakery would give out cute mini loaves of bread which were surprisingly fun to get. I hated getting those stupid marshmallow peanuts or candy corn. My brothers/sisters and I would always do the candy trade when we got home.

There are neighborhoods here that get 5,000 kids and the police have to block the area off for about 8 blocks. The entire neighborhood decorates their homes, yards, streets, etc. People drive by for a few weeks to get a look but Halloween night is the best! They dress up and walk around handing out candy to everyone.

1.  Smarties
2.  Anything with peanut butter
3.  You have to sort it, how else can you manage your consumption?
4.  Yes, and hope there are leftovers
5.  Of course :-)
6.  Actually, I think I was 10
7.  It's fricken cold
8.  Yes, I dress up as whatever the boys want, sometimes it's a little goofy.

Halloween is the time of year I teach my kids about taxes.

They learn that the Government (Me) gets their share of their income (candy) and in fact gets to take as much as they want, and whatever they want.  I even show them that Government can tell them what is not good for them (suckers) by taxing them at a higher rate.

And, the older kid, the one who brings in the biggest haul, gets taxed at a higher rate than the younger kids, and I'm in charge of redistributing the wealth.

My kids think they are too old now to trick or treat! They still get candy from me though.  I think it is too dangerous in this world today to go to strangers homes trick or treating.  I live too far out of town for trick or treaters to come to our house. I would love to get to give out candy!!!

I always loved any chocolate candies (Snickers, Crunch, etc.) and HATED Smarties (I think I mentioned giving them out as "crap candy" to trick-or-treaters dressed as Michael Vick in another poll  lol).

My brother and I would always sort our candy out and set up intricate trades with each other ("OK fine, 2 jawbreakers, a pixie stick, and a week of doing the dishes for the 3 Muskateers bar").

I always hand out candy that I like for two reasons.  First of all, I'd never buy cheap crap for trick-or-treaters.  Halloween is a high holy day for me and skimping would be blasphemy.  Also, since I get like 1-2 kids each year ringing my bell (pathetic, I know), there's tons left for ME.

If I had kids, I'd absolutely dress up and go with them!  I mean, ummm, as a chaperone only.  Yeah.  Chaperone.  Only.    I don't have kids, though, so my Halloween Costume Party is what I do instead (don't knock it, it's all I've got!).

PS - sports_schmorts ... I am also THAT girl    and my tree stays up at least until my birthday (January 16th  lol)

1. 5th Avenue
2. those cowtail things
3. Of course I sorted it out, my parents helped me, and I put aside all the stuff I didn't want so they could eat it.
5. I had smart neighbors, they'd know if someone came back twice.
6. I stopped when I went to college, guess that's actually "other" since I wasn't a child prodigy.
7. Anybody in the northeast remember the year in the early '90s when there was about 6 inches of snow on Halloween?  Normally it's about 40 or so here.
8. I don't have kids yet, but if and when I do I'll take them out until they're old enough that I'd trust them going out with friends.

1. I only give out chocolate...but no nuts in it cause I don't like my chocolate crunchy, I like it smooth.  (yes, it's all about what I like)

2. I hate licorice and those candy corn pumpkin things

3. I only kept the chocolate, gave the other stuff to my sibs (for a trade)

4. see  (I thought that was the ? about what I give out but it's what I liked getting too so I'm not doing a do over)

5. There was this one house that the couple would have you come inside by the fire and they popped popcorn in it in one of those basket thingsand put it in little brown bags while you waited so it was always fresh and hot.  There was something so neat about that when I was little.

6. I had to stop when I was 8.  My Father made us go Trick or Treating for UNICEF after that.  I know I should have been all "gee isn't this great that I am helping all those children"  but until I was about 12 I really thought it sucked.

7. Every once in a while it gets nippy but not usually

8.  Not to go out with the kids but for parties.  Last time I dressed up was a couple of years ago as a gypsy and I won the prize for best costume. (The fact that I hosted the party had nothing to do with it)

Wow..great question.  Licorice was the freaking worst., and anything chocolate was the bomb.  My personal favorite was the Snicker's bars.  Still is to this day.  As far as one house that all the kids went to...we had an elderly German couple that made homemade chocolate treats.  Kids would double back two or three times for those goodies.  We even had fruit(after it was cut open to look for razorblades), peanuts, pecans,  Rice Krispies balls, butterscotch candied apples, and a butt load of gum!
Also back in the day, nearly every house decorated and gave out candy.  Those that didn't were considered Communists or Auburn fans!  You miss those times when life was simple, your friends were your friends, and Halloween was a big deal!

When I was a child my favorite candy was anything chocolate! There was this one house that we went to as kids that the lady had known us forever and every year at Halloween when we would go to her house she would give us change that she had taken and put in wax paper. There was only one year that we tried to go back and hit her house again. When we did she just gave us an apple, we never tried to go back twice again. LOL.
