As the great Kenny Rodgers said, "Know when to walk away, Know when to run."

I said in a poll about FanIQ Season 2, if I lost my points, I was going to leave The Q. The start of season 2 is just around the corner, and everyone will be reset to zero. I have tolerated many changes to The Q, since I joined a year and a half ago. Some I didn't care for, some I enjoyed. However, I have worked too hard to get where I am to see it all go away for nothing. If I am going to go back to zero, it is going to because I deleted my account.

To the many friends I have made here best of Luck. To Bart and Glenda once again congrats and I hope you have a long and happy life together. I will be around through Sunday night, Pat and I have a bet on the BC/ND game this weekend. I may have to pay the bet as my last official act on The Q. Being a man of my word, I would never welch on a bet and hope Pat is the one who winds up paying.

It hasn't always been Real, It hasn't always been Fun, but at times it has been Real Fun!

Best I can see is that the points are being reset, not the fact that I've filled out every quiz on the site and 3/4's of the trivia questions.  Unless they plan on resetting all the trivia questions and quizzes for season 2, it seems to me that season 2 is going to benefit the newer members much more then it will the older ones who've already filled out alot of things.

  I have been looking forward to reaching level 30 on this site for a long time.  I have A LOT of points to lose.  And unless i can score over 1 million points before the change takes place, I'm not reaching level 30.  But I'm embracing this change.  Every good sports season must come to an end.  Plus,  we get to find out if Scott really is the sports ninja he appears to be .

  I have come to Fan IQ for the sheer joys of being with friends, sharing the quiz, trivia and all the fun of exchange of thoughts, for me trivia is in, points do not make any difference for me, i will be in trivia, let us see this fantasy world, , let us move on, those who love the fantasies and wager, have the best of  the both the worlds.!

I too have come a ways since joining  a short time ago and was deflated a little when i heard we were going to get stripped of our accompliments.PRO players may leave one team for another but doesnt his stat follow him as his historical record and start another set of records with his new team..and then those tallys are added to his historical records. so i can see them clearing our totals but should we be able to keep our historical record to carry over,we would still be starting at 0 but scott could still talk smack if he is the man!!!!!!!!! i think that would be a added feature to the Q that a lot of people would agree with.......just my opioion!!!!!!

 Points make me more broader than money does - I like the lauds more for what I have done than winning !  but lets wait and watch - who knows - it may turn out to be too good - or even it may go for the worse - time will tell the fate of the fans of the Q soon!

 I understand the frustration, BUT...

1) You will get a badge on your new profile, which will acknowledge your "Season 1" greatness. This applies to the top 1,000 people on the site, and you (irish22) are in that category. I know it's not the same as all of your points, but it's not like your accomplishments up to this point will be forgotten.

2) The new system WILL be better. Not "i think it will be better", it absolutely WILL be better, I promise you. Please give it a chance, at least for a couple weeks, and I assure you that you will not be disappointed. If, after you try it out for a little while, you decide you don't like it, then that's fine too. But I REALLY think you'll like it. I'm not just saying that, either. I really think it's going to be awesome.

 Kevin I hate to see you leave.  This makes the second one of my friends today that have said this.  I am not happy about loosing my points either.  I'm not even playing the quizzes, trivia etc.. anymore.  However, I am going to give this Season 2 a chance before deciding to stay or not.  I wish you would do the same.

  I understand your frustration even though I have only been here for less than a year....  I am waiting to see how it goes.... even if I never climb the ranks, or decide not even to try in season 2, I don't want to leave my friends........ what would I do with my time if I couldn't debate with Vindog, Riley, Becky and Janet (not necessarily in that order...... lol!)

Kevin thank you for the kind words for Glenda and I.  But i will probably be leaving also. I started here in January 2009 and i have worked my ass off to get the 1,975,000 points that i have. I only needed 25,000 to get to level 28 and they are going to take them away. I have spent hours and hours working for those points. Getting a Star for the top 1,000 peaple....woopy doo....im in the top 100, (51) and it wasnt easy getting here. And wowzy you can buy things at the Q store to give to friends. Oh Boy!  And i dont even know how fantasy sports are played becouse i have never in my life played this game and this seems to be the big thing with this season 2 coming up.   Im going to stay just long enough to see what it looks like. But im sure when i see my point total at zero, im outta here.

Jess can correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure that it will reflect your exact rank at the end of Season 1. For example, right now, your badge says that you're at #154. The profile badge wouldsay "#154 in Season 1", or something like that.

Once again, I highly encourage people to at least give this a chance. While it seems discouraging to start over, most of you who are very active on the site will once again be among the top 1000, or higher, with the new system, if you keep using the site the way you already do.

 Kevin, first of all you're one of my favorite Q'rs.  I'd really hate to see you go.

That being said, I can understand 100% what you're feeling.  I spent a LOT of time getting my points and getting into the top 100 fans on this site.  So this change is like a punch in the stomach to me.  I know the Q knows this, and for right now I have faith that they believe the risk is worth the reward.

Many of the problems people have with this site have to do with quality, it seems that many of the changes deal with that issue, and overall it'll be a much better interactive experience.  The way I see it, they're resetting everyone, faniq as we know it will be gone, and we all have an opportunity to be pioneers on a new adventure.

While I worry that the experience won't be one that fits my particular interests, I'm going to give it a go and make my decision to stay or go after trying it for awhile.  I hope you do the same.

ps.  Notre Dame is going to destroy BC.

I gotta agree with Pat here. Even if you have never played Fantasy anything before, it doesn't mean you wont understand. As Ty said, this Fantasy will not be like "all the others". C'mon folks, give it a ride. At least find out if it's a Chevy or a F.O.R.D. ( found on road dead)!

As for the points, I am excited, I may even get to beat myself..The olds ones will be immortalized on my profile, and honestly, I am going to enjoy going to war with all you heavy hitters that have been here from the Stone Age!

I will really really miss the smarts and funnies, though, cos I really get a kick out of seeing who I made laugh, and to be limited to 10 Respects  a day????? Can we give IOU's? What if I dont respect what was said, but it made me fall on the floor laughing?? This is the one I think needs rethunk!  ( Not a deal breaker for me though, besides curiosity has always been one of my weaknesses)

 i understand your frustration, but who really cares about points?? my original account i had, i was in the top 100, i decided to leave the Q and so i deleted my account, i am sure when i came back i could have talked to the mods about reopening my old account, but no i decided to start back over from zero, so when this season ends and the new one begins, i will be way on the bottom, but i dont care, its only points, i care more about the friends i have made here then anything else..

She didnt have to convert me, I was already a Steelers fan, but my NFL team is Da Bears..LOL

 I too. only care about the friends I have made/met here. This site was something I needed back in the summer. I have met some great people! I won't leave as long as I still can converse with my buddies. The pointsare a fun tool but they really only mean bragging rights. I look forward to the changes.

Oh Carl... if you really knew Andi the way I do, you would know she IS a Steelers fan.. and WAS before I even met her! Now that she has officially been a passenger in the Steeler-mobile, her life is complete!

Well, I have a suggestion already... I enjoy making people laugh, and I would like to differentiate between a smart and a funny... But I will give it a chance before I make a FORMAL complaint suggestion!

 To all you people jumping ship I bid you a fond fair well, and with you gone that will make it that much easier for me to climb the ranks. lol 

I at times have had the misfortune of not being able to be on Q for extended periods of time and probably would be in the top 100 fans if not for those situations, but I have had nothing but fun here and have made a lot of friends and I would never contemplate abandoning them. As it is I am in the top 500 and will be working overtime to climb as fast as I can before season 1 ends and when it does and season 2 starts I will were my badge whatever the rank may be with pride and honor.

Look out season2 and Scott I am coming for you.LOL

I think the 10 "respects" might be a little low too. Now I know that some people get some thumbs ups now for some meaningless reasons now...like having a hot chick avatar or just because their popular and not for the right reasons...like something is legitimately funny or smart. That being said, in the past, I've attempted to give thumbs up and welcomes to the newbies...we were all noobs once and I think its a good way to get them involved. For that reason, I think the 10 respects should be moved to something more reasonable like 50...

 I too will miss you as a person who's comments have floored me with laughter. I will miss the locker room as it was a few months a go. I am sure since the locker room is in its own little world this could stay the same since there are a lot that just visit this place. However CHANGE seems to be what 2009 has cursed us with.

In this case, some people might even have a chance to beat Scott. In the old system, that would have been pretty much impossible. I'm not sure anyone will be able to beat him in the new system either, but at least you'll have the opportunity. And I think you guys will like it a lot more than you think.

Once it starts, give it a shot. If you hate it, then send in suggestions as to how it should be tweaked, because we're always looking for more ways to improve the site.
It's a rare occasion, but I'm with Pat on this!

Too many people overinflated their points by doing Quizzes, Trivia, and what not, that they knew to be broken.  Season Two, and I know very little about it, I KNOW FOR A FACT will be better than Season 1!

Based on Ty's email alone it's obvious we will all get credit for our ranking in Season 1, so for any who are frustrated about losing points, I only say one thing:

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

***At least give Season 2 a look-see!  Stick around to see what it is that changes and how it changes before any of y'all go taking off.  I like the "multiple personality disorder" of all that is The Q!!  Honkey Out!  [Cheesy Grin]

Thanks Pat, if it reflects Rank & Previous points I would have no complaint! That's fair. Maybe some people say they got their points easily by quizzes, making questions etc, I got mine through picking games, mostly! So you can see my complaint. I'm here for good friends too, and you all are great. I'm willing to give it a try. Just want fairness for the one's in top 150's that have worked so hard and been here everyday!

I'm like Christi and hate to not have made it to Level 30.  I wanted to be a living legend, so I'm pouting about that.   But I do think that starting over will be interesting in a way.  It puts everyone on even standing and will make for more quality contributions to the site.  I'm still not sure about the whole fantasy stuff thing.  I'll have to wait to see how it works. 

We may all have to learn how to make Cricket Quizzes and Trivia though.

 I actually support this decision. I think it will make it easier on the newer members to earn a rank by dropping the older inactive members. I'm sure all of us (people who are active on a daily basis) will wind up with a higher ranking than we had before. (excluding the mods with several year's experience)
