New FanIQ Code of Conduct Posted (Edited 10/23/09 04:36PM by Jess)
It's finally here!
The new Code of Conduct has now been posted in the FAQ's section of the site. I've linked it at the bottom of this poll introduction, but if you ever need to review it again, click "HELP" at the bottom of the site, scroll down until you see the link to bring you to the Code of Conduct, click it, and you will see it there.

The primary reason for the revision of the Code of Conduct was to clarify a few things; eliminate gray areas and make more obvious what violations are and what they are not. 

I know that some of you had concerns about an "appeals" process, but if you follow the Code of Conduct, that won't be something you'll need to worry about. If you are ever reported for a violation, that report will be investigated fully. No action will be taken until an investigation is conducted. Once action is taken, there will be no "appeals" process, because the rules are simple and easy to follow.

Please read the entire Code of Conduct and ask here if you have any questions.

 Just an FYI on the language thing; we didn't feel it prudent to include specific words, because they change occasionally and it's just easier to keep it with Network Television.

Words that are OK:
Damn
Ass
Hell

Words that are only OK in certain situations:
Bitch - You can say "he bitched about the call" but you can't call somebody one; even a celebrity or athlete. This word is only ok used as a verb.
Pissed - You can say "he was pissed off about the call" but you can't use the word as a verb for relieving oneself.

You can NOT use the word "Ass" in conjunction with "hole" and you can not use "Damn" in conjunction with "God".

And of course, NONE of these words can be used as an attack on another user on the site - because personal attacks aren't allowed anyway.

Depending on where they sent the message (shout out or private message), you can report them to a moderator, me, or admin. With shout outs, you can do one of two things:
  • Copy the shout out - make SURE you include the user name at the bottom of the person who sent it. Go to the person's profile and click "Flag Profile" and type "Sent this message" - then paste the message in that box and send the flag. This will go to admin.
  • Copy the shout out - make SURE to include the user name - and paste it to a mod or me. Be careful to write a message at the top letting us know that YOU RECEIVED this message, so we know you didn't write it ;)
If you receive one in your private email, click "Report Abuse" and it will go directly to admin.

LOL I think that those are loose fitting enough where they need to be. I think primarily that's just referring to pictures we've seen in the past that leave NOTHING to the imagination...where you can see details.

I would like to clear all comments, so on so forth is there a way of doing this? Since we are getting ready for a new season I would like to start NEW. YES....I was born (literally ) a Rams fan, then the wicked witch of the Midwest took my team to another state-----and yeah I still stayed a fan, but then something happened---------------they stopped showing Rams games on television out here. So what was I to do, but just root for teams playing the teams I grew up hating--------------YOUR team is one of them. NEENERS! We can't agree on everything (Go Angels! ).

YES....I was born (literally ) a Rams fan, then the wicked witch of the Midwest took my team to another state-----and yeah I still stayed a fan, but then something happened---------------they stopped showing Rams games on television out here. It's all clear as mud crystal. I don't think the issue was about the document itself, but the different interpretations individual Moderators seemed to have. I don't know how you solve that problem, other than finding an unbiased independent arbitrator.

Now, if you could only do something about the acronym, CoC, although it's not as unfortunate as the one in my school district which will make torturous decisions about possibly closing or realigning schools-- the Facilities Usage Committee.

Words and phrases that are not accepted on network television stations will not be tolerated on FanIQ.

Words that you would not hear on Network TV (CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.), will not be tolerated. If you feel that an expletive is absolutely necessary, please use asterisks (*) to cover most of the word or phrase, or your post will be edited. If there is no way to edit the post without losing the majority of the content, the post will be deleted. Upon deletion, a private message will be sent to you to inform you your post has been removed

If it's one cuss word there's no need to delete the post, so it'll just be edited for language.  If it's a complete mess from someone cussing like a sailor, the post will be deleted and a message will be sent.

 Yea, ok, read and understood......... however, there should be something in there about getting your posts edited, and being blamed for something you didn't say or do..... slandering, and punishing someone or their post, just because you can (as a mod) shouldn't be allowed. As I have stated before, I used to be a head moderator on a social site before it was closed down due to lack of funding, I am not intentionally going to break the "CoC", but I will not just stand by while my posts are edited for supposed "poor quality" when there was not ONE thing wrong or in violation.  Sorry..... I am a diehard Vikings fan, and if that is a prob, let me know now.

Actually the only time moderators edit or delete posts is if there are words that violate the Code of Conduct. If a moderator has edited a post, it will automatically show at the top of the post which moderator edited it, and the moderator will post at the bottom of the post why they edited it. If they  just need to edit it for minor reasons, you probably won't receive a message, since it will say right in the comment, and it's not a huge deal unless it becomes habitual. If a post is so bad that it needs to be deleted, the user will receive a message.

The "Poor Quality" (which will be going away with Season 2) is something that anyone on the site can click, and 4 of those will hide a post. Generally, what PQ is supposed to be used for is regular members' votes of comments that SHOULD be edited or removed due to offensive remarks or profanities, etc. until a mod can get in and fix or remove it (so, if a mod would edit or delete it, a regular user should click "poor quality" and report it to a moderator). Unfortunately, it hasn't worked that way. People have chosen instead to click it on comments they disagree with, or if they don't like the person, or a myriad of reasons.

Another thing to remember is that we do have an occasional issue of comments not showing up immediately after they're posted, or they show up and then disappear only to show back up again when the servers catch up with each other. Or they'll show up on your wall and not in the poll right away. This is something that our techs are working on speeding up and syncing :)

Those would be considered duplicates, and would be deleted.  That is not part of plagiarism though, rather a lack of checking for duplicates before submitting.

Its up to you. Do you care to step up and be herd or just use terms which are wasting space and content for what the people of this site prefer to read. This site only wants to attract via sponsorship which is why they are making it more attractive and cleaning it up at this time which is why they need to do this. The readers or general members who understand this and can comply with such. Will be blessed with allot more of what they come here for. Their for this will need to be done to have any of the major advertisers or sponsors get on board. Which provides the fuel which will take this rocket ship to the top. Why leave the debris that slows up and drags it down must go, or slow the assent to the top tier. We are emotional and spoiled as a society and revert occasionally  like  little kids its being humans. Their for that is why their is a need for a referee. Which there is on any level, or at any event which is honest, fair, and relevant to the well fair of this site. Along with reaching its goals its  which are absolutely wonderful. Exciting and  impressive.  So this need for establishing some ground rules are needed. What it take"s to keep the ship straight and true and keep on soaring to the next level as quickly as we have already moved. Actually the ability to even inform and hear feed back input from or the opportunity to is way more then any other site would do. Proving again that they are a site of the people and are interested in what are feelings are. Just another reason to stand and give thanks to you folks here at fan IQ. User friendly and going beyond to make it that way two.Thank you.  I think its all pretty much cut and dry.  If your not happy with this. Then just go start your own site.  Which allows  your prefer ed ways of doing professionalism.  That is  the alternative.  If you feel unable to contribute in the professional manner which this site has now established. I did not see where anyone responded to this question. I have no idea about the answers to your other post, but this one I can help. The link takes you to the FAQ for FanIQ, but it should show Topic#18 on the top (if not scroll down). Topic #18 is the link to the actual CoC, & you just have to click that link.
