Even as a Carolina fan i do not think they will make it. Hopefully they will get to the Elite Eight.

A lot of things would have to come together for us to make a run at a Final Four--mainly our backcourt.  It's not out of the realm of possibility given good ole Roy and our frontcourt, but I don't see it happening this year.  Oh, but go ahead and punch the tickets for 2011!!

I agree I've said that maybe the elite 8 but definite 2011. This year is a reloading year and then we will make our moves for next year, but we will have a good season

Ya I agree. We had it all last year. Hopefully we can still make a playoff run to boost our young players confidence for next year. Plus, next year we get that Barnes kid who is a BALLER!!!

not to be funny but that wont happen lol, u guys got a long way 2 go and as far as UNC the only place we are lacking is point guard but if Drew can play well we have a chance to run with u guys but the ACC has talent no doubt about that but Good Luck to u guys this year

Absolutely not. There is no chance of them even making the Elite Eight. I see Carowhina winning about 22 games and having about  9 wins. They just don't have the talent they have had in years past. The only reason they are even remotely on the radar is the media hype machine and the amazing coach that Coach Roy is.

The Tar Heels have the core of a great team fully capable of reaching the final four this year but for two glaring issues. They have no real point guard. Larry Drew, at least at this level, is very average. He is an OK ball handler but has a very poor shot and has no idea when to take it even if he did have one. He is a textbook backup. If he starts the whole season and plays the majority of the minutes they could easily lose 8-10 games. Strickland has a much better shot but is not a natural ball handler, nevertheless he is a much better all around basketball player. This will be a problem all year. Their other problem is more glaring at the moment... they have no reliable outside shooting. Ginyard and Drew both have no shot at all, which makes the starting backcourt the roundball equivalent of a eunuch. McDonald is supposed to be the shooter but looks like he won't play much for a while. Strickland is a pretty good shooter but has to concentrate on ball skills at an unnatural position. Henson is a very good mid-range shooter which helps some. With  the depth and powerful front court they can get by during the season and will no doubt make the NCAA but the tournament is a shooters game now (MVP Ellington) and they have no shooters yet. Next year's class fixes a lot of problems. The reason Syracuse looked so good against Carolina is their zone. They are good not great, and shooting teams like Duke will have far less trouble with them. If I were an opposing coach I would use nothing but zone till the Heels prove they can shoot. Fortunately for Carolina most teams in the ACC play man which will not be a problem.  Unless Coach Williams is able to correct these problems, I can't see them getting past the sweet 16 at best.

It would be an amazing accomplishment for UNC to make the Sweet 16 this year after loosing so much.  And UK is gonna spank them at Rupp Arena on Saturday- on the way to being the first team in NCAA history to 2,000 wins!!

That's right Goat boy- We'll see who has the better front court  when Cousins, Patterson, Orton, and Stevenson DOMINATE the post this weekend!  OOOOHHHH boy!  I love college basketball season!
