They do this every year now. Nobody buys gifts for thanksgiving, so let's just skip it and get to the overspending. I love the entire season but am always shocked  and disappointed by how little attn thanksgiving gets. So...I am thankful for my kid, my family, my job, and being able to access the Q from my job. Amen!

oh... and most importantly, Jesus!

The jack ass across the street already put up his decorations on his house.  Now I have to look at that for 2 months!  There should be a law against that....

To top it off, he has a 4' Santa on his porch, it freaked me out last night, looked like some kind of creepy troll or something....

If you ask my family, I am the grinch.. Every year my family likes to put up the tree as soon as possible.. I make them wait until Friday after Thanksgiving.. They want to take it down after the new year... I am like christmas is over... I want that tree down .
But I may let them have it up as long as they need it up this year !!

YES don't skip past my birthday and go straight to Christmas.

Seriously, I think that people need to focus more on November. I have my home decorated for fall and have my flag up for the shooting and for Veteran's Day. My father proudly served and I respect him for doing so. We have to take time in November to honor others on Veteran's Day as well as spend time with our family on Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for being alive, having a good life, a job, a wonderful family and friends that I love. I have a new great nephew and his mother was told she wasn't able to have children. I have parents celebrating their 60th anniversary and I have my uncle(Godfather) and aunt coming so that her brothers and sisters can help them celebrate it.

So no, I don't think we should rush Christmas. The start of the Christmas season is after Thanksgiving and not before it.

Life goes quick enough, let's not rush it.

Santa is now trick-or-treating on Halloween.  Nov 1st is the new beginning of the Christmas holidays.  Isn't commercialism wonderful?

How can you be OVERJOYED by OVERSPENDING?  Now they want you to buy stuff as soon as you kick Dracula or Frankenstein to the curb...there is no appreciation in what the holidays mean anymore...

 (yet sad)

As for the poll question ... my tree is up already.    So, I mean, it's not lit up and decorated, but it IS up.  And I might have pulled out a couple boxes (out of MANY) of Christmas decorations.  And I might have been listening to Christmas music while putting the tree up (and cooking dinner ... and cleaning the house ... and putting up my new curtains ... and...).

OK, I'm a holiday geek, I admit it.  I've never denied it.  (And before any of y'all gum-flappers say it, I know I'm a geek in general, too!  Beat ya to it, ha!)

Like how rad you think I am?  And how cool I am for decorating this early for Christmas?  Or how much fun it was losing that bet to me and having to buy me a Q gift?  Or how much you wish you could be like me?

No need to say all that, Stoney.  I know ... we ALL know.

I love the whole season from Nov 1st til after New Year's Day.   Thanksgiving is a big day, always has been and always will be.  It is great to take one day and just be thankful for our many blessings.    When we are around the table we take turns telling at least one thing we are thankful for.   I agree with others too much is spent on Christmas, but then it is a celebration of the greatest gift mankind has ever recieved.

but why?...why skip thanksgiving? You should just get a couple of thanksgiving items to decorate with up until like the 15th and then start your christmas stuff. I mean next to my birthday , christmas is my favorite holiday, but I do wait  and let the holiday before it get it's time to shine before i go crazy. Can you by Fall wreaths with Qbucks, if so i will buy you one today.

It's crazy! Last year the stores here opened up at 2 p.m. on ThanksgivingDay to start the shopping.  The real reason for Christmas seems to be in the back of everyone's mind!

Thanks, but if I were in politics, I don't know if I could fake a smile and hold back the puke reflex at the sound of my own B.S. at the same time.
