I know college coaches can get even bigger salaries than NFL, but do you think Gruden is the kind of guy that wants to work with kids?

There will be a lot of NFL jobs open this off season. I don't know where but I am sure Dallas or Washington could come calling with buckets of money

I actually had a conversation about this last night. While Gruden isn't my choice for the ND coach( i just dont personally care for the guy), they can afford the big bucks, and I am thinking that is exactly what will happen, and I do think it will be next year. They have given Charlie more than enough rope to hang himself, and I am sure the powers that be will court Gruden highly.

My actual choice would be Chris Peterson from Boise State, but the ND big boys would never step that far out of the box. God forbid they gave a young, exciting coach, that might relate to the kids, a chance.

The other name that came up in my conversation is Grobe, and while that wouldnt  be a bad choice, because of where he has been and what has he done, I still think ND needs a younger , fresher approach to rejuvenate, a stodgy, backwards program.

I just really want to see my boys contend again, they almost had me excited again this year.JMHO

You have to be kidding me dude!   I'm still searching the stores for a new Bigscreen with the "Automatic Mute ALL Jaws and Gruden stupida** comments" feature. His booth stupidity can only be equalled or surpassed by the bozo that sits next to him. MNF.... Please put us out of our misery and take the microphones away from these 2 clowns!

Gruden is better suited for coaching in the pros, seeing as how he didn't seem to like working with young QBs (Simms, Gradkowski, etc.), so he definitely wouldn't have the patience dealing with college QBs.

I think he will b back coaching next year cuz he loves it 2 much & he doesnt hav the issue alot of the other coached had about wanting 2 spend time with his family but i would love 2c him come bak 2 the Raiders he was the only coach that could deal with Al & Al actually let him do his job

Gruden was rumored to have a contract with the NFL network but then took the ESPN contract. What makes anyone think that he won't just change his mind again if the perfect coaching job becomes available?

I would take my $2.5 million from the Glazers over the next two years and sit in the Booth on MNF. When all is said and done and his contract in Tampa runs out, then he should return to coaching in the NFL. He is so knowledgable and he is learning so much about all the other teams out there. If he spends three years disecting every play of the MNF season for the next 2 years, he'll be unstoppable for quite a while. The man is a genius and he is just getting smarter.

Almost every comment in here is moronic (especially this one)!

zzj000:

You have to be kidding me, right? Jon Gruden knows more about the game of football than you will probably ever pretend to think that you know in your entire lifetime. He is entertaining and very informative, unlike Jaws who is just a worn out so-so QB who now thinks and acts like he knows everything. Gruden is never negative, unlike Chris Collinsworth, and he makes me laugh (a lot like Madden used to do, but in a much different style).

Don't any of y'all know that he already signed another contract to return as Monday Night Football commentator again next year? He is obviously having fun doing it and he's a whole Hell of a lot better at it than any of the other jokers they have tried in there over the past several years now.

There are a lot of very good coaches out there right now without football jobs and there is absolutely no reason for anyone to think that Gruden will take another coaching job at this point ion his life.

It always amazes me how stupid most people really are!

It could be that Cindy is putting pressure on him to stay out of coaching. His oldest son is becoming a teenager and maybe she wants him "there". Another factor that is keeping him out of coaching is he is still getting paid by the Buccaneers and will be until 2011 or he takes another coaching job. Whether or not he's a good analyst is irrelevant to me. The man was born to coach football. Do you think he will never coach again (a la John Madden)?

Gruden prefers to work with veterans and not kids. There's no way he takes a job working the college ranks.
