Usually not ever stressful, but I am afraid this year might be the worst ever with the loss of my little sister. I will do my best to be strong for my mom, and Susan's children. The holidays are a reason to celebrate so I will celebrate having the best friend, sister and the blessings I received having her! I would like to thank my friends on the Q for being there when I needed hugs and boost to remember that I was blessed to have had her!
To all those who will be celebrating without a loved one for the first year or without loved ones that once were in our lives my heart and prayers are with you. Remember they are smiling down upon us from Heaven.  Hugs!

They will live in our memories and hearts forever.
Very Stressful.

It is stressful for me.  I can't enjoy the decorating, family gatherings or celebrating the reason for Christmas.  It is all because so many people expect gifts that I can not afford.

I don't let the holidays stress me out - I choose to enjoy them. The food, the fun movies, the hustle and bustle, twinkle lights all over the place, smells, school holiday programs, decorating the tree, spending time with family and friends...I love it all. If there's anything that isn't fun about it or stresses me out, I just don't do it. I'm fortunate that nobody (besides maybe my daughter) "expects" anything but maybe a little bit of time or a phone call from me. If we can't afford gifts we just don't do them...or I make something.

You touched me alot with your comment. I lost my Mother 3yrs ago this coming Feb. Things do get better slowly with time but they are still hard. She and I where all that each other had. This year will be the biggest test for me I think. With the loss of my mother, friends, and my job. My mother told me before she passed. When you miss me look at yourself and you will see me there looking back at you. I really do miss her alot she was my adviser, confidant, and much more. The one and only I knew who truly loved me. Besides God.  God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond, your power to remain firm,at the time you are put to the test. May God keep everyone this holiday season safe, happy and without want. Amen

Gina instead of giving gifts on my fathers side at thanksgiving we let the children draw names. They have a gift exchange amongst themselves cutting down on buying for nieces, nephews and cousins so on so forth. Then the adults all buy a present in the $30 dollar range. We then put them in the middle of the floor. We all draw numbers, then the first person picks a gift unwraps it. Then number 2 has the right to steal the first gift unwrapped or pick their own and on down the line makes for a fun night and cuts down the cost of Christmas and lets people laugh have fun and enjoy instead of stressing.

Posting to come back with respect.

I know it isn't the same, but all my family are in another state, and most of the friends I would love to be with for Xmas are in other states. and I really adore Xmas. The alone thing just sucks!

I love buying presents, and watching the persons face when they open it and realize I remembered something they said, or that the gift I got them was picked just for them alone. I love little kids laughter and excitement, seeing Santa, opening presents. I love making batches of cookies, and cooking a big Xmas eve dinner. I love midnight service at church on Xmas Eve.
I love Xmas carols ( much more when they havent been playing since Halloween), I love eggnog, and Xmas candy.
I love the memories of my childhood, and how very special my grandparents made each and every Xmas while they were alive.
I love buying a thing or two for Toys for Tots, and knowing that somewhere there's a kid that is getting a present because of me.

I enjoy CHRISTMAS way too much to be stressed by it. I specially love when every one has gone to bed Christmas Eve when it's just me and the Lord Jesus Christ. I revel in His Peace and Presence in my life. Reflect on His humble birth and the Love GOD has for mankind.

Then I break out the snacks [Hickory Farms Turkey Sick, Monterey Jack Cheese, Crackers and, Sliced Pears]
The Christmas Cheer [IRISH CREAM] and,
The Greatest Christmas Movie ever made, A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim [1951].

Usually crawl to be at 3am. As anyone with kids can attest to, I'm up 2 1/2 hrs later!
