Tell them that they now have to get jobs!!    Tell them that you dont care that they are 6 and 10 years old. Remind them that when you were thier age, you had 3 jobs and walked to each job barefoot 5 miles each way.  Tell them that we are in a recession and its time to put up or shut up...no more toys until they start pulling their own weight!

Tell them Santa's sleigh just broke down and the parts are so rare that he had to order them from the North Pole. The parts will be available next summer. Now that will give me plenty of time to find another job.

Let them know that even though times are tough, as a family with God's love and your faith everything will be ok.

Play it cool and just hide out in the park during the day. (source of advice: Homer Simpson)

So did I!  lol

Let your children know how you are feeling but also assure them that you will be okay. I am upset that this happened but it has happened to many other people who have gone on and found other jobs. I will be fine.

It was funny.Sometimes its best to make fun of the situation.Just to take the persons mind off it.Everything always turns out for the better. for one like your humour. To each their own I guess.Doesn't mean that he is mocking the person.Secondly is this person looking for sympathy??Does this person want hand outs?? I was in a similar situation a couple of years back.I didn't pour my brains out on the fact i lost my job.I went out and got another job.Obviously if the person has time to post this. They are not looking to hard for another job.

Of course it was very funny.  I laughed out loud.   It is something we would like to say to our kids at times.  lol

I say all of the above.  Just reassure the kids that everything will be ok.  They need  to feel secure.

Tell them the truth that you have lost your job and that you'll be going job hunting the next day. It's hard to open up at first but  they have the right to know about the situation they're family.

THE TRUE,CAREFULLY, NEVER LIE TO YOUR KIDS, WIFE OR HUSBAND, IS THE STONE FOR A TRUE FAMILY.-IF YOU BUILD YOUR FAMILY WHITH LIES, CAN BE DESTROYED.-

Well the truth will never hurt you,or your family. After you get a new job or unemployment ,you can joke about it. Tell them you thought you where going to have to send them out as hired help. Jokes are like laughing in the face of adversity and a way to lighten the load.
