LMAO......Does winning on a FREE site really matter that much in some Peoples Lives????

My Family is all Healthy, and I have food and beer in the Fridge.

I guess I am easily satisfied.

Yes they should and are allowed to participate in all of the areas of the Q just like the members.  The moderators are not PAID...they volunteer their time to help the site.  Any member can apply to be a mod.  Stop the hating!

Obviously if this poll comes down there is a reason for it.The MODS don't like it. Naturally they have all the power:) maybe i should start a pool on which MOD  will take the poll down??

OK...only one problem with what you posted-----this isn't a sweepstakes.....no one is winning any money.

Perhaps you aren't being childish, and you are actually posting a real question. I am just sensing more sh*t stirring and that was why I made my comment.

As long as they stay within the COC, like everyone else is supposed to, they should be able to use the site for its intended purpose... entertainment with sports being the main influence. I answer this way because it is what I believe. I think I was asked for my opinion, there you go.

I have saw plenty of mods "goofing off" or commenting in the polls. Some of them are actually funny.  As long as nothing they post is against the COC I would think they are free to post just as regular members are.

1. Mods are members of the site.
2. They are volunteers not paid members.
3. They should be able to do whatever we.
4. We are all representatives of this site.
5. What makes you ask such a question.
6. Most spend more time on here babysitting then with their families.
7. Usually paid employees are not given award and can not participate.
8. Are they giving out major awards I am not aware of?
9. Mods take care of the site and contribute more then most not sure what the problem is?

I could remove this poll, but I won't, and I hope no one else does either, because you're perfectly within your rights to post this poll. It doesn't violate the CoC unless you choose to engage in personal attacks. But since you've chosen to express your opinion, I'll add mine here to your poll. I find the "us versus them" mentality expressed by you and select other members to be wretched. Moderators are members of the FanIQ community. They have equal rights to participate in anything on the site. In fact, it's only by participating that they can do their job. It's not their job to play neo-Nazi (as some seem to think) or to play favorites. It's their job to make the experience on the site positive for all members. Gina is correct-- the Mods are volunteers. The actual paid staff is quite small. Only Pat and Jess make regular comments on public forums. It's not as though they have any inherent advantage in trivia, pick 'em, quick fantasy, or anything else. And how exactly are they going to give advantages to members they like? They are limited to the same 10 Respect per day and the same means to earn or spend Q-bucks as everyone else.

Why is it that every forum has a percentage of people who feel "oppressed" by the moderators of the sites, and feel that they are somehow cheating, or playing favorites? If you remove moderators from the community, what reason do they even have to come here?
#24 | 1284 days ago

It's funny, but in my time here I have yet to be a victim of any "powertripping."

I find that in MOST instances, people that complain about that are people who are doing things they shouldn't be doing. Now sure, mods do make mistakes, or over react sometimes, but that is human nature. The same thing applies to any person in any position of authority. But to be honest, I have found the moderators here to be much less intrusive than those on any other forum I go to, and even needed less.

So your idea is to ban all moderators from being able to talk to anyone else but other moderators? So you want to actually create a larger divide between the "Haves and Have Nots?" You want the Greek Gods looking down from the heavens and laughing at the mere mortals? You want them to perform a service for free, but to be banished from enjoying the community they help keep running smoothly? Should police officers only be allowed to spend time with other police officers? Should they be forbidden to go to sporting events because they help provide security for them as well? I truly just can't wrap my brain around that idea.

Come on all.  Let the mods play too.  They need fun and entertainment in their lives like the rest of us.   Now if they got the inside track on winning  real money, i would say no, but then that's what gambling does to friends when money is involved.  There are so many more things in life that are so much more important, like who gets your ten respects of the day.

I was referring to the poll creator. He clearly has a vendetta, as his "Thought of the Day" indicates, and as his "choices" for this poll also indicate. I totally see your point, Jason. It's a delicate balance. It's just like when you work for a close friend or relative. It's hard to compartmentalize the different relationships with the same person. As I said on another poll today, I didn't expect to become a Mod; I just wanted the ability to feature articles. But they trusted me enough to give me full power. If that's going to interfere with my ability to act naturally and maintain normal friendships with other people I like here, then I will ask them to take that away from me. It's much more valuable to me to be able to interact with people like you without any kind of stigma or doubt. Do I think Mods on this site have abused their power before? Absolutely. There was one instance quite recently where a member I liked a lot was personally attacked by a Mod. Had the situation been reversed, that individual would likely have had their account deleted. But the Mod retained not only her account but her status as well, after issuing a public apology. I do perceive that as a double standard. But I won't be a party to any such thing. If I am ever put in that situation, I will go on the record right here and now as saying that I will readily relinquish any special status rather than compromise my ethics or my friendship with anyone I care about.

I was ranked at 16th long before I became a mod.  Also I was in the top 25 before fan points for profile views, smart, funny and bold were implemented. So I got them the same way everyone else did, by filling out game polls and pickems and creating polls and getting credit for polls answers, news links and expert picks.   And it took me three years to do it.

Speaking on behalf of a mod on the welcome committee, I didn't get points for welcoming new members, the only extra points I got were fan points for profile views the same as everyone else on the site could get.   Granted I got more profile views due to members coming to my page to ask questions or for help with something.  But, without sounding too vain, I got views because some people just liked my picture and came to my page because of that.   It wasn't recognition from anyone for not getting "paid", it was just the way the system worked. It was what it was.  And since fan points are now moot, so is this reasoning for "free" points.  I got way more fan points for people giving me smart or funny and top comments in the locker room than anything else.  And if you notice most of the top ranking in IQ points in season one were people who spent all day every day going answering trivia and quizzes.  You will find most of the mods in the top 100 because they are more likely to be very active members of the site prior to their mod status.   It has noting to do with being a mod, it has to do with contributing to the site in various ways.

I'm not being negative to your comment, I just wanted to correct any assumptions that anyone may make by thinking mods get extra points just for being mods.

#50 | 1283 days ago

To answer this poll question, yes, mods should be able to participate in all areas of the site the same as anyone else.  It's the reason for the site and the fun part of it.  Because, believe me, being a mod is not fun.  It is something we do to help keep the site going because we want everyone to enjoy it and have fun doing it.

I am giving you one of my last respect for the day and if we had a clapping hands smiley I would give you that as well, but your comment was right on hmmmmmm with that said maybe we could re-introduce the Mod Squad lol.. just a joke but I really did like that old show from way back So Jason since I can't give you any clapping hands I am giving some thumbs up
