LIONS vs. Packers...A Thanksgiving Day Tradition since 1934...11/26/09 Edition.

For the 70th time in their long history, the Detroit Lions will play their traditional Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday, this year hosting the Green Bay Packers.
The Lions are 33-34-2 on Thanksgiving, and have lost the last 5 Turkey Day games. The Lions last win on Thanksgiving was in 2003, a 22-14 win over the Packers.
The Packers will be playing in Detroit for the 19th time on Thanksgiving Day, the most of any Lions opponent. The Lions are 11-6-1 vs. the Packers on Thanksgiving. The Lions and Packers first played on Turkey Day in 1951, and played 13 straight times on Thanksgiving, from 1951-1963.
In 1962 the Lions won what was perhaps their greatest victory ever on the holiday, defeating Vice Lombardi's
undefeated Packers 26-14, sacking HOF QB Bart Starr 11 times. It was the only loss of the season for the eventual NFL Champion Packers.

That is really too bad because the Lions' offense looks so much better with him under center than either Culpepper or Stanton. 1. 300-399 yards 2. 0 3. 3-5 4. 2 5. 1 6. 1
