Are you a Native?
When im not in the land of make believe, i reside in San Diego. Today i saw a license plate that said "SDNATVE"  I dont get that, ive lived in San Diego for 16 years but i was born in the OC...so am i more of a native than a 14 year old kid because i lived here longer than he was born...or is he the native because he was born here?   Also, my friends still dont let me "represent" San DIego when something cool happens here...they always say "why do you care, youre not even from here"  it really pisses me off!

So my question is: Are you a NATIVE to where you live, and do you feel a sense of pride in that to where everyone else is an"outsider?"

When I lived in California, it was outside of San Diego. It was a town just off the base and never met a native of California.

I will always claim the town I grew up in, that is where my mom is and where all my friends are.

I believe Native means born there and sometimes generations before you were there too. But if you're friends are telling you that you're not a native of San Diego Mr Rogers, then maybe you should feed them to the shamu whales.

Born, raised and still live in San Diego.

You might not have been born here, so you don't exactly qualify as a native.  But you've lived here long enough, I say you are eligible to represent.

(Of course, your friends still might not approve.  You've spent a lot of time in the land of make believe, and I'm just a Fool.)

Does it matter, ................? I am human, on planet Earth, entire world is my family, VASUDAIVA KUTUMBAKAM,, we say in this part of the planet, entire humanity is the family, like different fingers of hands, have differences in appearance, work done, hands have to work as one team to have food and needs
Born in a small village, to parents of modest income, life was a struggle to get educated, have secure future for the spouse and kid, needs were few, wants were nil, desires never sprouted, but happiness is what I have in plenty with self sufficient life and good friends to share the life with laughter.
As to another facet of "native" this notion is insignificant, history shows that America is made up of immigrents from different continents, declared independence, from Great Britain, natives of then America were confined to "reserves" and with reservation, denied dignity and respect in life.

Wow, that's back to colonial times! My great-great-great-grandfather moved to south Georgia in 1821... and my father was born down there before moving up to Atlanta as a young man.

Born in Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, been in around 38 states from military and government transfers.  Call Texas and Tennessee home because I've lived in Texas the longest and Mama's family is from Tennessee (generations).  Always live near water for some reason and now reside on the Ohio River with a spectacular view of Kentucky!
