"You're as Cold as Ice..."
Just got done watching the Jimmy Valvano speech for about the 8th time in two days, and talking with Jess, we were discussing what movies and tv shows that just make you cry like a baby at times.

Now, I'm a softy - and sometimes even the littlest things can get to me if the movie or television show is quality. Jimmy V video I can watch thousands of times and will cry at different points for different reasons on all of them, the movie Reign Over Me, yada yada yada.

Jess, on the other hand, is a straight up Ice Queen. Can't cry to Forrest Gump.

So which one are you? A softy like me, or Ice Queen like Jess?

Believe it or not I am a Snuffleumpagus..I bawl at everything. Little House on the Prairie, Extreme Home Makeover, and OMG I watched an episode of Find My Family the other night....And Brian's Song, I know it by heart, so I am bawling long before Gayle Sayers ever says "I loved Brian Piccolo"

I still tears up at the races with any mention of Dale Sr, ( and I still hold 3 fingers up on the 3rd lap, even if everyone looks at me retarded these days), The National Anthem always pulls at my heart, and God forbid, but any sad abuse story involving a child on TV just absolutely tears me up

Yep, I am a softy at heart, but mess with my driver, or my team, or my friends and family, and I will kick your ass...LOL

LOL - I'm not a total Ice Queen..it depends on the subject matter. I cry at the end of Miracle (but it's a happy cry) - and real stuff makes me cry. I cried when I watched Wayne Gretzky and Patrick Roy's retirement ceremonies. I think some other movies make me cry too...I'll have to get back to you.

Oh see, I'll cry at stuff IRL - for example, I had tears streaming down my face at the last Seahawks game I went to when they did the National Anthem and the helicopters flew over the stadium. It was military appreciation day, so they did it all up - it was awesome.

And music - there are 2 bands I only listen to when I need a good cry because they make me think of my dad and a friend of mine - both of whom have passed.

Yea, that Extreme Makeover Home Edition gets me too - I hardly ever watch it, but whenever I'm with my "other" family, mom has to watch it because she's obsessed. Can't help but cry; well, except if you're Jess.

I don't cry though"

LOL I don't! But that's not to say that it doesn't make me feel. It's inspirational and wonderful and gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling...the tears just don't follow.

Just wait until Nellie sees this poll. I'm sure she can come up with a huge list of movies and shows that should make anyone cry that don't get to me. But like I said, I cry at stuff normal people don't. I'm weird.

The only time I remember crying during a movie was during Detroit Rock City when Jam's mom burned his Kiss tickets.  Not sure I was choked up that they couldn't go to the show or if it was because the price on the ticket said $5.

I admit that I a huge softy. It doesn't take much to make me cry happy or sad, I will cry. There are certain programs on tv that I'll cry about certain scenes, movies, the list is endless....Forrest Gump, Titanic, Fried Green Tomatoes, Beaches, Rudi, Brians Song and on and on. Sitting in church, the holidays, the National Anthem, the Fly overs at the races...the bells ringing at the two churches down the end of my road, they play hymns. Certain events at races or a college football game. Children, dogs, seeing children that are critically ill, sometimes seeing a friend I haven't seen in awhile.  Living on a farm as a child, watching the killing of the animals we raised and ate. And like Andi said...remembering Dale Senior at every race. Even if I see a dead bird in my yard....way too soft, but I'm not ashamed ofit at all.

Of course you are an Ice Queen and I am a secret supporter of a former Alaskan governor with the initials S.P.

-----------------------------------------------------

I am a total softie on SOME things. I cry during movies when someone dies (only the good ones, when the bad ones die....I'm fine) or is sick  and I can relate. Anything to do with a kids being hurt or treated poorly, each April when the Kings season ends with another playoff absense, and every time that SPCA commercial comes on with that Sarah McLachlan song are just a few examples.

Damn ... I forgot about those SPCA commercials, too.    Or those late-night Christian Children's Fund commercials.

Other than that, though ... nothing!

I'm a cry baby.  TV, commercials, movies, everything makes me cry.  Most recently, that Folger's coffee commercial where the brother comes home for the Holidays, gives his kid sister a gift, she sticks the bow on him and says "you're my gift" has me bawlin'.  I spent the whole time watching The Blind Side sniffling.  Fantastic movie.

Takes a lot to make me cry, but I still shed tears when I see clips of the Twin Towers going down, our military men an women trying to make things work with their families, things like that. I also shed a few when I watched the Hendrick Motorsports movie.  The memories were just as real as yesterday, just like 9/11 and the military.  Things like that move me.  Otherwise, I'm as cold as ice.  Too old to care much about things that are out of my control and young enough to hope that things will change.
