What is the COLDEST temperature you have ever personally experienced?
What is the COLDEST temperature you have ever personally experienced? PhotoThe temperatures here have been incredibly cold, and although they aren't supposed to stick around, they are colder than we've seen since February, 2007 when it was in the -40's for a full week.  In December 1992 is was -65C for three days in a row.  Temperatures have been reported at -55C, and where my hubby was working yesterday it was -65C.  Home here it is a balmy -35C, still cold enough to do damage to anyone with medical issues, and a lot of vehicles are sitting still, not running and the taxis are busy, busy, busy.  BTW, once you hit the -40's, Celcius and Farenheit are pretty much the same

So, what is the COLDEST temperature you personally have experienced?

I have no idea what the temperature was, but I'm sure it was in Alberta (outside of Calgary).

It's been well over a decade since I've experienced snow though.

-65C?  Good Lord, I don't even want to figure out what that is in Farenheit (except I just did and its -85 ).  I will no longer complain about the cold for at least the next five minutes.

When in lived in Yellowknife it would sometimes hit -45 F. No idea what the wind chill was as in those days they didnt give it out. You could see your breath for 25 feet before it would dissipate. If you didn't didnt plug your car in, good luck starting it.

We got to -31 last winter, but the wind chill was something like -60.  But that only happens once or twice a year.

I was camping once in -10 weather (back when I was young and invincable) loads of liquid heater (Jack Daniels, Schnapps etc.),  a roaring fire, down sleeping bags and three good friends to laugh with all night long.  It was cool to say we did it, but truth be told as soon as the sun came up we broke camp and went home for a hot shower and nap in front of the warm glow of a football game on TV!

The coldest I've ever felt was standing on the shore of Lake Michigan with the wind whipping off the lake in January. It was around zero but felt a helluva lot colder. It's been down to zero here lately and I'm ready to move back to Georgia. But really, we should stop all this talk of super-cold, as the conspiracy theorists will quickly jump on it as evidence to disprove global warming. Are we sure Carl's not around?

Being in Great Falls Montana which is usually top 10 on windest cities in the country.  Anyway I was posting to a Missile Site and the temp was 40 below and we had 35 mile winds gusting up to 55. I know it was close to be 70 below with the windchill. My boots were frozen to the humvee floor. I will just say it was freaking cold.

Actually, where I grew up, it can go up to -80 wind chill factor.  I really do not count the temperature at all. To be honest with you, I used to live in Florida for five years, but if it goes down to 70 degrees, I sure can feel it to my bones down there because of the humidity.  Alaska is so dry if it gets to 30 degrees, people can go out with their t. shirts on.  60 degrees it is very warm here, to compare to Florida, it would be more like in the 80's.  I would whether feel the dryness than to humidity is cold to the bone.

Honestly, I can not remember....  The actual temperature wasn't the issue, but I remember the NATO Air Station being closed for 2 days to all personnel (except essential duty sections) attributed to the cold.  The problem wasn't only the cold itself, but the constant SSE win coming off the Greenland ice cap.  To this day, a cold wind still goes right to my marrow.

In December 1983, a brutal cold snap culminated in a frigid Christmas holiday where the temperature did not crack 0 from Dec. 22 until Dec. 26. The low that year was -24 on Christmas Eve and -17 on Christmas Day, and in a CBS 2 weather forecast at the time, meteorologist Harry Volkman was warning of overnight wind chills of -75 and air temperatures of -30 in the western suburbs.

But the coldest day ever in Chicago came on Jan. 20, 1985, when the mercury bottomed out at -27.

I was 20 yrs old and pregnant....oh did that temp feel good to me!

I've only ever lived in South Texas, Southern California, and deserts ... so I've still yet to have the experience of seeing this weird phenomenon that yall refer to as "SNOW" and I've always thought it was a bit s***y that water pipes start blowing up when it gets down around the 30's.  With windchill the coldest I've probably experienced was like 18-20 .... didn't even ever own a jacket or coat until I went into the Marines back in 97.
