The reason the Big Ten is lacking national publicity is because there track record in the postseason isnt that great.  Every year we hear about how many teams the Big Ten gets into bowl games or the NCAA basketball tourney and every year the Big Ten struggles during the bowl season or they fail to get X amount of teams into the 2nd week of the tourney.  Regionally, fans love the Big Ten and the types of games that they have but nationally, until the conference as a whole can start to hold there own much better then they have, you wont hear the conference get the type of publicity they should

I feel the conference is lacking the poster child for the conference!  Michigan has a huge fan base and when they don't make to the post season we have to rely on OSU and that is horrible.  Also I am not a fan of the spread offense, our identity has changed we used to be a smash mouth conference and by not being able to run hurts in the post season.

I know that it kills a Michigan fan to have OSU playing in BCS bowl games but the reality is, Ohio State has been the leagues most productive and prolific team, even if the overall results in the big games arent what everybody wants.  Personally, I'm all for the feel good stories when teams like Illinois or Iowa sneak there way into the BCS games but in the end, those teams havent been much of a match for the USC's, Florida's and LSU's of the world.  Like it or not, Ohio State is the poster child for this conference as far as football goes because year in and year out, they are the team that everybody ends up chasing to try and win the title.

While Ohio State seems to be the team to beat in the Big Ten (plus one), their performance in their last two BCS championship games gave the Big Ten (plus one) a black eye that they have not recovered from.  It certainly does not help with Michigan on the sidelines this bowl season, though the other schools who got in need to step it up for the conference to be respected again.

The Big Ten just isn't a football conference anymore (it's a volleyball conference now). The decline started many years ago when the conference as a WHOLE started posting LOSING records vs. nonconference teams in the regular season. The B10 also has had a miserable go of it in their own beloved Rose Bowl going 12-26 since 1970.

Big Ten record in BCS Bowl games the last 3 years.....0-6. That's all you need to know!

No one wants to play big 10 teams during regular season. OSu is the only one getting top teams to play! They beat each other up during the regular season.

That's a load o' crap. It's the Big Ten that is avoiding competition. It started back in the early 90's when the Big Ten had a LOSING record as a WHOLE vs. out-of-conference competition.

This season, the Big Ten went 5-9 vs. other BCS schools and even went an interesting 18-3 vs. NON BCS FBS schools

No ACC, SEC, teams ventured into big 10 country this year to play! They beat the Big erat 3 times, Pac-10 1, Big 12 1, Independ 2 MWC 1, Wac2 and I didn't count the Mac because it wasn't even fair!

Big Ten is a tough Conference! Top to bottom choose a team and it is not a gimmie!

Not sure who the Big erat is but if you meant Big East, you are wrong.

The Big East split 4 games with the Big Ten: Syracuse alone played three Big Ten schools, beating Northwestern and losing to Penn State and Minnesota. Cincinnati beat Illinois to even the record at 2-2 between the two conferences.

As for the ACC there was one game and that saw Indiana go to Virginia and get hammered 47-7. (yes Indiana sucks but so does Virginia!)

The SEC and Big Ten did not play this year. However, NW will face Auburn in the Outback Bowl and Penn State and Alabama signed a home-and-home series for 2010 and'11.

Yes the Big Ten beat the Pac 10 ONCE, what you failed to mention is that they LOST THREE times.

The Big Ten took on the Big 12 just twice and the conferences split with Missouri hammering Illinois and Iowa taking care of cross-state rival Iowa State.

Notre Dame IS a BCS school albeit independently and they went 2-1 vs the Big Ten while Navy is NOT a BCS school and they nearly upset Ohio State in Columbus.

The other conferences you named are not part of the BCS group even though they are FBS level.
You should include the MAC. They went 2-12 vs. the Big Ten. But it is interesting to note that Northern Illinois BEAT Purdue who beat  Ohio State, the Big ten champion.

Within the poor Big Ten there might not be a gimmie, I agree. Minnesota AT HOME in their new stadium managed to whip that powerhouse SOUTH DAKOTA STATE by three whole points. Gimmie indeed.
Hope you now see the Little eleven for what it is: a powerhouse volleyball conference.
