Target Field (Edited 01/04/10 01:37AM by Hec718)
Twins had a big home-field advantage with the Metrodome indoors. How will they do in their 1st season in their new park, Target Field? (Keep in mind that in April, May, and September it is very cold in Minnesota)

Yes April in MN can be cold, but May and Sept temps average in the 60's and 70's. That is not cold at least by our standards. Playoffs in Oct different story, could snow.

I think it is fan-effing-tastic that there is one less dome in the Majors.  I've been to a game in the HHH Metrodome.  The worst place to see a game in the majors.

And kudos to the Twins for not getting one of those horrid retractable roofs...  Or Half Domes.

Their first draft pick will be the Russian star Ivan Frezunmynutzoff!

Anything will be an improvement over the HHH Dome.  That place has all the charm of a mausoleum.  Outdoors with regular grass . . . hmmm .  .  .  I don't see the switch impacting the Twins all that much.  They are a talented team that wins indoors or outdoors.  The White Sox will not miss playing in the Hump Dome no matter what the weather is in Minneapolis!

On a side note...  Any Twins people know when tickets to the Saturday April 6th exhibition game will go on sale?  I will be visiting a friend out there then and he wants to go to that game.  But I have found no news on that game from the team web site.

Twinsfest 2010 is next weekend (29th - 31). They normally sell tickets during that event.

Thank you for the info.

But...  On the Twins web site, they say that is when fans can enter a drawing for the right to buy tickets to the opening series against the Red Sox.

Do you think they will sell the April 6th exhibition game with the Cardinals that day as well?

I would think so. If I hear anything I will post here.

Because no one wants to watch a baseball game under a roof!

yea, whatever, tell it to the people who have to sit thru a 3 hour rain delay, pal !!!!!!!

Doesn't happen that often.

Baseball is meant to be played OUTSIDE.  Not under a roof.

Can get some rain in April and October.  But the snow is about a 3 1/2 hour drive away.

But remember...  The Twins somehow managed to play outside from 1961 though 1980.  They can manage again.

They also managed to play in Washington, DC, before that! What's your point? How many of these pampered zillionaires were even born before 1980 or realize every time they go into the Mall of America, they are walking where Jim Kaat & Rod Carew called home?

The point is that they played outside for 19 years.  It didn't seem to be a big deal then.  I don't see why it would be a big deal now.

Thin-skinned babies that go on the DL for a hangnail? LOL

I got what you were saying brilliantly. The dome was a huge advantage because a fly ball blended in with the roof and it was the Keystone Kops! Our youth baseball season was marred last year because it rained what seemed like forever. We don't have manicured fields and tarps to keep things playable. I would love to have a retractable dome facility!
