It's Christmas!! What's for Dinner?
Up here in Canada, Turkey is the meal of choice for  Christmas dinner.  Now, of course my freinds to the south have likely had turkey about a month ago for Thanksgiving, and have something else, but in Canuckland, our Thanksgiving is at the beginning of October, so we aren't sick of turkey, yet.  My question is, what do you have for Christmas dinner?

I'll be thinking about having Prime Rib this year, while I get stuck eating dry ham or turkey.

My family is south, and hubby has a ton of brothers and sisters, but we don't all get together any more for dinner, although we visit each other throughout the holidays.  Christmas has become a day for OUR kids, and we love it that way!

Well since it finally quit raining and now the snow comes, I will be grilling hot dogs, hamburgers and porkchops on the grill tonight. Probably one of the most relaxing Christmas Dinners we will have with the family.

My sister is making prime rib for all of us tonight at my mom's house. This is a first for us. Usually we just have left overs from my mom's Christmas Eve party (tamales, deli tray, and whatever else.) on Christmas.

WOW.  SIXTY-FIVE!!!!!  The most we had as a kid was that year of 35, but my hubby's family had a Christmas dinner a few years ago, at his sister's house (she and I shared the prepping, cooking, etc.) that was 43.  Sixty-five huh?  Ii've done breakfast for 80 before, but that was just breakfast!

Yes and it took two days to cook and about three days to clean the mess up.. But it was worth it...remember I have nine sisters, and one living brother... all their kids are having kids so I have around sixty nieces and nephews along with the great nieces and nephews, plus my sisters husbands.. It was a lot of fun, but now it seems they are all scattered everywhere or have other families to go to since my mother passed away.. So this year I just cooked for family.. I have one son and one grandson and his wife.. So it was very peaceful this year...

Thank you.. Yes I do have a wonderful family.. It amazes me how close we all are and hear stories about other families that do not get along.. We were raised to treat others as you want to be treated, and it has not failed yet.. So Tracy just remember that, and everything will be great in your life.. We have a lot of fun together and twice a year we have a sisters outing so we do not loose touch with each other.. It is so easy to stray away from family in this day and age, but we make it a point not to let anything interfere with our family ties. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas also and have a great New Year.. I am glad we are friends... Have a great evening...

Christmas Eve is usually the snack-y stuff. Buffalo wings, shrimp cocktail, Swedish meatballs, ham/turkey, cheese and crackers, BBQ weenies, that sort of thing. Then Christmas day is the Prime Rib with grandpa cooking it to perfection as always. So good, and I always seem to get the leftovers.
