You can vote for an "other" if you want, but the teams listed are the teams who have won a Super Bowl in the 2000's. Pick the one that you think is the "team of the decade", by whichever standards you see fit.

It PAINS me to make this selection, but it should at least show that I'm objective.

And that's based strictly on # of Super Bowl wins. A case could certainly be made for the Colts. They won the most total games in the decade, they set a record for consecutive 12-win seasons, they had a record going for most consecutive regular-season wins (oops, blew that one)... if they do manage to return to form after their starters being off for a month and win this Super Bowl (though technically that will be in the next decade), then I think it becomes very close.

If the Colts win the Super Bowl this year, I think you could make an argument for them.  I don't know if I'd buy it, but it could be a legit argument. But yeah, its the ****ing Patriots.

The Pats have won the most Super Bowls this year, but the Colts have by far been the better team overall this entire decade... not just at certain times of the seasons.  It's close between them, but the Colts records for most total wins in a decade, consecutive 12-win seasons, most consecutive regular-season games, and so many more records belonging to individual players and/or player combos gives them the edge to me because they've covered the entire decade each season, each game.

Pats for sure....Colts 2nd...they do it in the Reg. Season but not in post season.
New England Patriots

All of these arguments for the Colts are futile. The Patriots were one play from winning four Super Bowls, and that 2007 season was historic, from the 50 Brady TD's, to the 23 times Brady went to Moss for a TD, to the way the Pats dismantled teams. The Colts were serious underachievers in the playoffs with the exception of the 2006 season when they won the Super Bowl. The Patriots playoff success was unmatched in the decade. Even if the Colts win the Super Bowl, it's still 3-2 Pats.

Yeah... like the important parts.

The Colts may have more wins between Sep-Dec, unfortunately the the games that count are in Janaury, so the team of the decade has to be NE. Three Rings trumps 114+ REGULAR season wins

I'm picking the Steelers because I know that the main driving force for your creation of this poll was just to drive Bryan crazy. Good poll...

Maybe I should pick the Steelers just to return the favor.  No, I'm not that much of a homer.

The Pats, Steelers, and Colts have combined to win 6 championships in this decade, and the Colts have a good chance to make it 7 of 10.  They're the only 3 teams to win 100 games or more in the last 10 years, but if you're going to look at the accomplishments as a whole (regular season and playoffs), it should go Patriots, Steelers, then Colts.

First, if the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year, then that makes 4 and the issue is dead.  But even without it, the vitriol expended against them, even in a mediocre season (this year) and the fabulous showing they made when their star QB went down last year (despite becoming only the 2nd 11-5 team to miss the playoffs), show they are the team of the decade.

Second, I agree that the Steelers, being more successful when it matters, are the primary contenders.  They're still in contention for a third Super Bowl win this year.

Third, considering how many times they knocked the Colts out of the Playoffs,  and how they presented the greatest challenge to both New England and Pittsburgh in their Super Bowl seasons, and how they burned out the Patriots in 2006, the argument could be made for the Chargers being the third best team in the decade.  But they look more like the team of the '10s.  Also in contention for the Super Bowl this year.

Fourth, the Colts who racked up massive regular season numbers only to be futile in the playoffs.  If the reports are true, predestined to be the Super Bowl Winner this year.

Hands down the Pats with the Colts being a close second.
#14 | 1706 days ago

Yeah, even as a diehard Eagles fan, it's pretty obvious who the team of the decade was.
New England Patriots
#15 | 1706 days ago

Has to be the Pat's, Colts 2nd, Steelers 3rd.  Just because of the # of Superbowl wins this decade.  The overall games won would have to go to the Colts, but NE certainly would take the prize for most victories in Superbowl wins.

Patriots for # of rings, Colts for # of reg. season wins. Pitt for team of the decade. Both the Pats and Colts had pretty much the same team all 10 years. The Steelers retooled from their 90's heyday, and produced a championship caliber team. Nuff said

Um, the Patriots are known for their revolving door and the Colts just had massive turnover this past off season and won fourteen straight games to open the season.  Basically, your reasoning is bunk.

you guys gotta be kidding me!!! the patriots!?!?!? c'mon!!! remember a few seasons ago when they were caught CHEATING on the Jets??? and that's not all belichick has done this decade. everytime he loses, he throws a temper-tantrum and doesn't show his face to the public. and Tom Brady is so hot shot either. he follows belichicks every move!!!! he just ruining his reputation. Colts deserve the title, they never cheated and they're just as good, if not better, than the patriots.

Thats your argument? Give me a break. So that was the reason the Colts choke in the playoffs every year. What has that record amount of regular season wins gotten the colts? The same amount of rings as the Ravens, Rams, and Giants in this decade. If the Colts are so good why are the Atlanta Braves of the NFL?

Brady was consistently on the team, although even he took a year off (last year) but his receivers, runners weren't consistent.  It is  hard to believe but Moss, Welker are only around since the 2007 season.  Belichick retooled the offense after they lost to the Colts in order to emulate the Colts explosive offense.   Last year, we lost most of our linebackers, mostly to old age.  Seau retired what, 3 times?  SD/NE/NE?  So we're retooling the defense this year.

They turned over more cornerbacks (Rodney Harrison, Assante Samuels) , linebackers (Bruschi, Law, Vrabel, Thomas, Seau, McGinest).  Bruschi was one of the few name players not to go cash in on their success.  Assante Samuels fled to Philadelphia for big $$$, Richard Seymour to Oakland, Charlie Weis left to coach ND and their defensive coordinator left also after the 2004 Super Bowl Win.  Every team has to re-tool, most players don't last that long.

See for a list of Patriots running backs, recievers and tight ends.  http://www.patspulpit.com/story/2007/7/10/215734/597

There is no question the Patriots are the best team of the decade. I accidentally clicked on my GIANTS though.

I WILL SAY THAT THE COLTS HAVE BEEN AWSOME BUT AT THE SAME TIME A DISSAPOINTMENT!  AS GOOD AS THEY HAVE BEEN OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS THEY STILL COULD ONLY WIN ONE SB....THEY HAVE REALLY BEEN A PRODUCT OF A WEEK DIVISION! AND WERE ALSO DOMINATED BY THE PATRIOTS IN THE PLAYOFFS EARLY ON. THE STEELERS ALSO TOOK OUT THE COLTS, SO YOU CANT REALLY GIVE IT TO THE COLTS... BETWEEN THE PATS AND THE STEELERS, WELL I GOTTA GO WITH THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS. NOT JUST CAUSE I AM A FAN BUT THEY HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE RAVENS WHO HAVE BEEN TOUGH TO BEAT EVERY YEAR... PATRIOTS AND BRADY HAVE BEEN GOOD BUT ARE ALSO A PRODUCT OF A BAD DIVISION! IE. JETS, BILLS, DOLPHINS. WHO COMBINED HAVE LESS WINS THAN ANY 3 TEAMS COMBINED IN ANY DIVISION! SO IN MY OPINION GOTTA GIVE IT TO THE STEELERS!
#34 | 1705 days ago

What does the division have to do with Super Bowl championships?
New England Patriots
#35 | 1705 days ago

It comes down to who has won more rings this decade. It isnt the Steelers or Colts. Thats the bottom line. They play for titles not most regular season wins or who has the best competition in their division. Rings trump all. Thats the bottom
