He did have his one monster season with the Cubs and one could argue that if you remove that season he doesn't make the Hall....

But he played 10 years for the Expos.  He came up with them.  He made his name as a good baseball player with them.  I think that if you look at it through anything but Cubbie covered glasses, the choice is pretty obvious.

Yes, 10 years with the Expos, but just like Gary Carter and his going to the Mets, and winning the World Series, most fans remember Andre Dawson as a Cub, that great 1987 season,  and i think that's the way he chooses to go in as, a Cub.

And like Carter, the Hall will likely make the right choice and have him wearing an Expos cap in his plaque.

I think most fans who followed baseball in the late '70's through the '80's think of him as an Expo.  The more, shall we say, not quite as into the game fans may think of him as a Cub but probably had no idea he even played in MLB before then.  The Cubs were a somewhat more popular team than the Expos.  Just check out how many times the Cubs were on the Game of the Week compared to the Expos.

Sorry, poor sentence structure. I meant that Carter will be remembered as a Met, and not an Expo, even though , like Dawson, he got his start in Montreal.

Perhaps to you...  But most fans from the late '70's and early 80's will remember him as an Expo.  Not a Met.

Yes, a great outfield, Dawson, Rock Raines, and Valentine. I remember all of those guys, and i think of Dawson as a Expo, buy his stint with the Cubs, winning the MVP, that was on a national scale every day, where as in Montreal, players were an afterthought to any one but die hard baseball fans.

Perhaps so, but I don't think those at the Hall who make those decisions will base it on the popularity of the teams the player played for.
