Baseball Hall of Fame Re-Do: Chance-Cuyler
The Hall of Fame debate continues in earnest after the election of Andre Dawson. But what if there was a re-do, in which every player currently in the Hall of Fame had to reevaluated with the same 75% barrier as the current system allows. What if it was just a one-shot "yes/no" question, as some think the voting should be?  Some also think there should be less players in the Hall. These series of polls will allow them to give their say on who they'd take out.

In this series of polls, every player that was elected by either the writers or the Veterans Committee will be reevaluated. Like the current process, 75% of the vote is required to stay in the Hall. This vote will not include managers, umpires, executives, or Negro League players (the latter because I honestly doubt many of us could properly judge those players due to their circumstances, I know I couldn't). Who would the Q keep in the Hall? Who would they leave out? Only one way to find out.

Note: For each player, I included their year inducted and how, BBWAA for elected by the writers, and VC for elected by the Veterans Committee.

As a lifelong baseball fan, the Hall of Fame is hallowed ground, and i can honestly say that there are players who don't belong.
I have never even heard of John Clarkson, and will have to look him up to figure out why he is there.

This is a difficult one, because a lot of unknown players on 19th century/early 20th century guys. I haven't voted or looked them up yet, but I'm probably going to trust the VC for the most part on them.

Obvious picks (to me) in this group: Clemente, Cobb, Cochrane, Eddie Collins

Chance (no): Good when he played, but played 17 years and didn't even appear in 1300 games. Too many half seasons.

Chesbro (no): Given his era, he had only four years in which he was a great pitcher. Granted, he won 41 games in one of those years, but still.

Clarke (yes): Career .312 hitter, career 132 OPS+, over 500 stolen bases, and over 2600 hits. Good overall package.

Clarkson (yes): Short career in terms of years, but all in the 19th century. The numbers just don't look real, but that's how it was then.

Jimmy Collins (yes): I'm probably being generous here due to my lack of knowledge of turn of the century baseball. According to the Hall of Merit's website, he was the first third basement to move in on bunters and field them barehanded.

(BTW, I hope I don't have to convince anyone on Eddie Collins. Look up his numbers; he's in the argument for greatest second baseman ever.)

Combs (no): Consistently good, but short career.

Connor (yes): Was the career HR leader before Babe Ruth, and probably the best slugger of the 19th century. Career 153 OPS+

Coveleski (yes): Effective both in the dead ball and lively ball eras. Being one of the last spitballers might have helped in that regard.

Crawford (yes): Still the all-time leader in career triples (309). 144 career OPS+ in the dead ball period.

Cronin (yes): A very good hitter for a long-time while playing shortstop.

Cuyler (no): Good player, but not just feeling it. I don't know why.
