If I put a bumper sticker on my car, it would read:  "I drive like a Cullen"

Seriously though, my wife fell in love with the story....not the 'vampire' part of it, but the 'romantic', 'soul-mate', 'forbidden love', but can't stay apart devotion to one another aspect.  She practically harassed me to read the book, and I finally agreed when she said I could read a chapter a night to her like we used to do when we were first married--so, I "caved".  Needless to say, that lasted for 3 chapters, then she spent the Saturday reading to me most of the day when we weren't busy with something else.

Now guys, if you say it's gay, then (taking the vampire/werewolf elements out of it), you're missing the kind of romance and devotion that women treasure.  Personally, I'm not drawn to it for the romance--if I'm not doling it out, I could care less about another couple.  However, I have attained an appreciation for the intrigue between the mixed alliances, conflicts, and even structures associated within the book.  So, whilst I may have to fight to keep myself awake when my wife is reading through the sappy romantic shite, I find myself very attentive during the portions of the book that involve a level of intrigue.

True Blood on the other hand is awesome......the concepts in that show are really phuqed-up with it's abstract plots and sub-plots....

christ, i saw a dude out the other night who was driving a car with the vanity plates ECULLN. i ran into what must have been him in a bar the same night, tall, skinny, looked like his skin hadn't seen sun since he was a twinkle in his daddy's eye and yes. was actually wearing fangs.

i have decided to most politely dodge this culture bullet.

today sir...you are my hero! first off, reading is already sexy. reading to your woman  excellent. and secondly for supporting true blood. i love the segregation issue, and how they pretty much address everyday societal issues using vampires.

From my understanding it's about some teenage vampires that are only allowed out between 5:00pm and 7:00pm.

Love the oatmeal. everything they say is spot on. The zombie apocalypse one is by far one of the funniest and most accurate things I have ever read.

this is also very accurate and expertly examines the Twilight BS and how dumb it really is

I'm 35, I love the story but I'm not fanatical about it. I haven't seen it 15 times...maybe 3. I've read the books through a couple of times - The first time I went through them so fast I missed stuff or forgot things that my friends would mention so I went back through them.

The thing about the books - they were written for young girls; pre-teens and teens. Of course they're going to be a little bit cheesy. But there are other aspects and subplots of the story that are really cool; and not just the romance. The other supporting characters are fun too - it's not just about the two main modern day "Romeo & Juliet".

I'm not ashamed to say that I really enjoy the books.
