Have you ever heard of....?

Recently I discovered a group that I've become obsessed with. The funny thing is, they've been out for a while and performed with some artists I love (including Alicia Keys and DMX). I don't actually listen to a whole lot of radio; fortunately my friends know my tastes and recommend groups and artists on occasion. For example, a friend of mine knows I love classical music, and she knows I love hip hop - so she introduced me to Black Violin. Incredible.

Have you been introduced to a band that doesn't get much radio play, or recommended one to a friend?

I totally love their music. Now I have a few friends who listen to them. There is a local band called "The River". They have performed at several fairs, College half time shows, local bars. They are terrific! When they played close by the line to get in would be a mile long. I got to know them and they are cool. You can here some of their songs at Theriverband.com......Cool music! 1. #12 \| 1213 days ago VIOLET (+)	Sometimes my students (that know I like heavy metal and similars) say me, hey miss listen to this or that, or they lend me their ipods to listen something. I also buy magazines that have cd samplers from different bands and If they like me then I do my research on Internet and I buy the cd or download songs. Sometimes watching TV I find something new. My recomendation for today (a little bit lighter than my usual stuff) would be Interpol, Placebo, Arctic monkeys and maybe 10000 maniacs.

Barefoot friggin Truth. they are still making a name and are tryibng to figure out exactly who they are and what style they play. i have heard them go through some bizarre changes. Even if they aren't your style, at least listen long enough to appreciate the talent these young kiddos have. their music really is diverse and advanced for young 20's. the lyrics are incredible. 1. It was my nephew, who was in his freshman year of college (about 6 years ago), that first introduced me to MUSE. LostProphets never seems to come back . Also, don't sell American Idol short...I have found some real good stuff through there David Cook, Blake Lewis and Daughtry are amazing If you like "different" music, try LostProphets or Peroxwhy?gen (this one is hard to find) ... techno(sort of) Blake Lewis..... mellower rock Daughtry (His new CD is incredible) ....country Josh Gracin or Billy Dean.
