Roll me away...
I know 'Favorite Music' and maybe 'Favorite Drives' polls have been created. I have no intentions of repeating a poll,  but I hope this may be a different twist to the music poll stuff. I was driving down a pretty nice stretch of road a few days back and I was listening to a CD I created from my favorites tunes off of Bob Seger's Greatest Hits 1 and 2. That is some of my favorite traveling music. I love driving through the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina for hours, and there are coastal two lane highways that meander through fishing villages in North/South Carolina and Georgia that I love driving down. Since the Q consists of people from all over the planet, I'm curious to know where people in here would like to spend the day driving and what would be the music they'd be playing? Again, if this is a repeat poll, please know that I did check for duplicates and don't be a hater.     Roll me away... Photo     Thanks to all.

I always have more than 20 cds filled with mp3s in my car, some are compilations from similar genres, I have heavy metal, 80s, 90's, hard rock, oldies, electronic etc. or by artist, Queen, Iron Maiden, The Ramones, Faith No More. I'm listening music a big part of the day.

I always like driving up the 101 from San Clemente up to Santa Monica and back, and I'm a big Oldies and Classic Country fan, so it'd be a mix of some of the old greats like Ricky Nelson.

I have several "Driving" CDs that I've made.  Bob Seagar is right on the top of my list (you have good taste Beans)!  I have a mixture of everything from 3 Doors Down to Rascal Flatts.

my big driving places are the west end of galveston, shell beach (it's not really a beach, but it substitutes well for one when gas and moolah are low), minute maid park (i like to go and throw coins in the baseball fountain when no one is looking), and san marcos if i need to get away from everyone in my life for at least a day.

i tend to play classic rock if i'm headed north and classic country/blues if i'm headed south...which is weird. i'd never really thought about that before! for the record, i bought bob's greatest hits (1 & 2) the day i bought my current car. when he's singing, my car averages about 5mph faster except when katmandu is playing and then it's about 8mph faster.

I'm clairvoyant. This morning, i thought to myself "hey, does beaneaters make polls stil?l...I think it's time for him to make a poll...and Voila! I rock!  My traveling music most definitely depends on my mood. I have different playlists saved for different occasions. If I'm going on vacation, I may at some point throw in some Les Nubians or Enya. On occasion the Best of Marvin Gaye, and other old school R&B.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is my favorite place just to drive and feel the peace.  I only live about 25 miles from there.  My music would be oldies, country and rock.

I've only done the PCH once, but it was so different and cool to me. (i'm used to mountains and stuff. Think Vermont.) It's the only drive I'd consider doing just to be doing it. I'd just shuffle my iPod.

1. Lake Shore Drive
2. Something fast. Trashed or Paranoid by Sabbath. I'm liking Mind Eraser, No Chaser by TCV. Highway Star - Deep Purple or Metal Church. The Lord is a Monkey - Butthole Surfers. Damage Inc. - Metallica. Subway to Venus - RHCP. Kick Out the Jams - Bad Brains/Rollins version.

Alrighty then...time to set up new playlist.

A frequent drive I do is to Vegas. Its not scenic unless you like a lot of empty desert, and there are very few radio stations(ok maybe just one) so I just put my IPod on shuffle and enjoy the music.

I do like the PCH drive to Morro Bay.

I love my Zune! I don't leave home without it. I like driving to NYC, or Atlantic City. Both are about a 90 minutes drive, there's nothing scenic about the drives, it's the destination that gets me excited.  what I listen to, depends on who is with me, depends on my mood, and usually someting I can sing along with. Jazz ballards,R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop,rap

Favorite drive is driving to San Diego (taking the 5 or when coming from Pomona or Riverside area taking the 15).  Although driving up PCH to Malibu is pretty nice too....especially if it is early and you can catch the surfers just coming in.

As far as tunes go....I like a little bit of everything. Currently I have Muse, the soundtrack to Jersey Boys, Pink, Mixed CD with all my favs from back in the day including Baby's Got Back, some Michael, some old rap with dirty words, House of Pain, Don't Stop Believing, and many others,  Rise Against, and Martina McBride.

Where I live is in the foothills of the Ozark mountains. So the roads are great if you love curves and twists, and the music when i'm driving those roads to clear my head is 60's motown

While it isn't my first choice for where I'd be driving (nowhere in the Midwest would be my choice), but I've learned to enjoy my early as hell drive to school for my 8 am class.  I enjoy the calm of the early morning where nothing has happened yet.  I'm now in a routine where I listen to Kid CuDi's "Pursuit of Happiness", Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind", Kid CuDi's "Up Up & Away", and then a fourth song from that CD (generally "1901" by Phoenix) every morning on the way to school.

Beaneaters, since you said that you like Jackson Browne............................. "Nothin But time" is the first song that comes to mind...................This is a great road song and beings how it was recorded on the road (literally)
It was the perfect song driving back from Sugarloaf Maine a few years ago.

Rolling down 295 out of Portland, Maine
Still high from the people up there and feeling no pain
Gonna make it to New Jersey, gonna set it up and do it again

I got a bottle of wine (pass it over)
I got a broken white line (I'm still sober)
There ain't nothin but time between this Silver Eagle
And that New Jersey line
