I don't buy into the whole Valentines Day romance stuff. If someone cares about you they should show it all the time not just once a year because Hallmark says to. So I don't have one to share!

same hear, I've always treated it like any holiday when my kids were little. It's too comercial to be taken seriously. It's just lacking its own icon like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.

I expect something from my man on my birthday, our anniversary, and Christmas.  He has a 'get out of jail free' card for Valentine's day.

Oh! I don't recollect having any romantic memory of anything on Valentine's Day!  It is basically any other day for me, but I can dream of having a romantic evening at the restaurant over looking the Cook Inlet.  Perhaps, candle light with the aroma of vanilla scent in the air and the table decorated with tiny sparkling hearts.  And a bottle of red wine to drink.  Ugh!  Of course, my date a handsome gentleman.  My elegant appearance makes him smile with appreciation of good company. Hmmm!  What a dream romantic moment that never happened.

What  Valentine Day,  got it....................................................Commitment, that confirmation to be loving and caring, sharing and caring, if it is not there,
it is all about lust, show of willingness to mate.! Wooing to mate with false gifts of gilded commercial romance.!

Nothing really,  I always had fun with the girls doing little things. Now I get them some chocolate and call it a day.

ok, most romantic valentine's for me was sophomore year in college and it actually snowed. my boyfriend and i walked around seeing the campus glittering and he kept putting our initials in hearts in the snow. ...what? yes, i actually used to be mushy at one time in my life.

I don't see what's so romantic about a 1929 massacre in a garage on Clark St. in Chicago. I question why we even celebrate this event at all.

St. Valentine's Day Massacre

I remember seeing the photos in jr high, and being very disturbed over it for a long time.

(edited by me, too graphic for the kids)

When I was a sophomore in college, a friend of mine had access to his parent's timeshare on the Oregon coast and a few of my buddies (and their girlfriends at the time) were going over for Valentine's Day weekend.  I had just recently got acquainted to the most gorgeous girl I had ever seen (I had a crush on her - unspoken - for a year and a half). I took the opportunity to ask her if she would be interested in going to the coast with my friends and I.

My wife of 20 1/2 years and I look back fondly on that weekend. I still don't know what she saw (sees) in me. I am a poster child for "out kicking my coverage".

aw come on folks - i hate valetine's as much as the next person, but i still could drum up one romantic valentine memory....you anti-valentiners have never had one cheesy (mmm cheese...), cliche and, at the time, uber romantical valentine's...?
#23 | 1702 days ago

I didn't say I liked it - notice that my story (one and only) came from 23 years ago when I was courting my college's homecoming queen. It just happened to work out in my favor...

So which one of you peed the hearts and initials in to the snow?

it was all him man. we'd been drinking an awful lot that night and he'd write, pinch, run, write, pinch, run...really tugs at the hearts strings doesn't it?

by the way...i have totally had this song stuck in my head all day because of this post! what's love...but a second hand emotion...

You know being shown everyday that you are loved and appreciated makes for a good, strong relationship. But deep down its ok to say I wouldn't mind being remembered on this day I guess. It's just not necessary
