I Just Can't Give a Who
I know a lot of people hang out and watch halftime (I even know some women who watch the big game for this and the commercials alone), and generally I get up and make sure the food trays are full again, there are enough cold drinks, and everybody's comfortable when halftime rolls around - because hey...don't expect me to be a good hostess when the game's on!

I seem to remember years ago halftime shows on other channels that we could switch to if we didn't want to watch the scheduled performance on the field. Didn't MTV have a Rock & Jock game of sorts? Or maybe replayed highlights. And I think I remember a Simpsons mini-episode or something too but maybe I'm mistaken.

So - what I'm mainly wondering is, do any of you know if there are any other channels broadcasting something fun? I just can't get excited about the Who. I long for the days pre-miss-Jackson-if-you're-nasty's exposed nipple when they had relevant artists out there.

I agree with you Jess.  The half time shows have really went down hill since the Janet incident.  I still watch it, in between eating or talk in a thread.

 I will watch if it's a good act...out of the corner of my eye.  I remember In Living Color in 1992 SB...had the "Gay" Super Bowl....he would have LOVED to see the PACKERS and the OILERS play!!!

That was hilarious. FOX wasn't showing the game, but they timed the bit exactly as halftime started, and it ran the length of the entire Super Bowl halftime show.
David Allan Grier(...were are all the football men's.?") and Damon Wayans were hilarious.

I'm usually doing something with the halftime show going in the background.  But i don't pay attention.  If there's a really good special running on another channel, I'll watch that.

I just have no interest in halftime shows.

 let's just keep the bulls*** out of the game. it's to the point where the game is secondary  to the pre-game and half time crap. i'll dvr "puppy bowl" on animal planet and watch that during halftime. seeing a group of dogs relieving themselves is just as good as the entertainment.

 Years ago a buddy worked at a bar so he had rented the backroom for the Super Bowl.  It was like $50 for food, beer & entertainment.  He hired 2 strippers who for the first half of the game served drinks.  Then they put on an a way better half time show then any I have ever seen on TV!  Lingerie Bowl nothing!!  For the second half they served drinks topless, in heels & a thong.

 The Superbowl has always been like my sports Christmas, but I could never quite figure out what the crappy halftime equivalent was to Christmas day? I guess it's the 40 minute drive to Gramma's house. If a network were smart they'd use it wisely. Like if NBC has the Superbowl, they could have a football'ish Weekend Update or something. CBS should air the first act of a CSI: Miami, then run the rest of it right after the game. Maybe center the murder plot around SB week? A loud mouth reporter is found dead at halftime, everybody at the game is a person of interest. [cue The Who: YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH!]

excellent. but it should be SVU instead or a CSI with Gil Grissom. Or..or...oooh...A Sopranos short. Everybody would watch. awesomeness.

 I'm usually busy during half time - food, drinks, whatever, so I missed the Janet "malfunction" .  I'm not sure this year, hubby might want to actually watch the Who.  But couldn't they have found someone more contemporary?  sheesh

 I'm looking forward to seeing the Who, as I was Tom Petty and Rolling Stones in previous years. I'm usually at a large public party (sports bar or someplace) so I can remain seated and drunk.

  We, family and friends watch the game of Cricket, and every few minutes we have half time, advertisement breaks, being the time between bowlers change in the game, in one day matches, the half time break is to see that all watching the game are comfortable, with drinks of their choice, xnacks of their choice, superbowl has few takers here. !
If the game goes burst with consistently bad performances, majority wins to change the channel to other stations, mostly, channel V, music channel, or even FM radio, interactive, where all become super active with participation.

I'm smelling a bit of a tie-in with the Who and the game being on CBS-- I suspect they play the three CSI themes then "Thank you, good night!"

  I like Laurence Fishburne (sp?) but CSI has not been the same since William Peterson left.

 Only reason I watch the game! Guess I won`t be checking it out this year. If they`re going to have Canadian entertainment  they should play Cdn. rules. Four downs? What`s up with that?
