Robby Gordon only to run a part time schedule this year
For the first time since 2001 Robby Gordon is not going to compete in the Sprint Cup Series full time. I know in previous years he's missed the odd race for another commitment but now we're looking at seeing Robby only a few times this year, however he has said he fancies a go at the Indy 500.

Personally I think it could be a good thing for him. Over the last couple of years all Robby has been doing is around 30th-35th in the points, and for someone as competitive as Robby I'm sure that has to hurt. He'll be going rallying monster truck racing and possibly IndyCar racing where presumably he will have a better chance of competing for wins than he does in the cup. What do you all think about this? Will the year off full time racing make him stronger for the future? Will we ever see Robby compete in a full season again? Do you want to see Robby back full time again? Over to you...

Robby is a great guy, and for anyone that has no had a chance to actually meet him, and see him around children, and see the time that he takes with his fans, I suggest  experiencing that, before calling the guy names.

Robby on the track however, marches to his own tune, as countless CC's that have been fired can tell you. HE likes to run the show, and he isn't very partial to walls. He has had amazing success with Baja. and the Dakar rally, races that take more control, and stamina than your regular Nascar Racer needs, and for him to decide to devote more time to road racing, and the Indy, good for him.

I will miss seeing him on the track every week, but no matter where he races, I'll be rooting for him.

He's a jerk. I'd love to see him run 5-10 races and put someone else in his car for the rest of the season.

I have never really taken to Robbie Gordon.   Nascar just does not seem to fit him.  So, I wonder who will bring the first caution out every other race now.

You can't help but give Robbie credit. He's been holding his own in Nascar for a few years now. i wish him the best of luck no matter what he chooses to do. I think he's going to do just fine. Would I like to see him back again someday, sure I would, if that's what he wants. Right now he's in the position to choose several different options. Go get em Robby!!

For the record...I'm not a fan of JPM either...Lol

He's in off road racer, we all know it. I just thought he brought some rawness. You knew what he was thinking by the look on his face, and he was colorful most of the time when speaking about how others did him wrong. Nascar has the drivers so gagged these days its ridiculous...Nascar is not , regardless of what Helton says, "refined"..its raw, emotional, bis boom bah...or whatever you want to call it....and thats Robby Gordon....

Robbie is a great road course and open wheel driver. I think he did a great job driving these stock cars and he will be missed by alot of fans just not this one. I dont dislike Robbie or any other driver for that matter but he needs to stick with what he is good at. I wish Robbie all the best in his future and look forward to seeing him race in the road courses this year.

He made he Cup debut in 1991, since then the man has driven for over 10 teams, Drove every manufacturers car model in the series, his best cup position has been 16Th, 3 wins, 35 top tens, and one pole!  The 2001 New Hampshire "win" was only due to him intentionally spinning out Jeff Gordon, the other wins have been on road courses (yes he is a road course driver).  In the 2004 New Hampshire race Robby intentionally wrecked Biffle, whose spinning car also took out Tony Stewart and Jeremy Mayfield. As a result of their DNF's, neither were serious contenders in the 2004 Chase after that point.

The man should stick to Open Wheel and Off Course Racing, because that is where his talent is.  Even you commented that he never met a wall he didn't like.  Nine times out of ten he brings the first caution out at every race.  Also, I bet the few races he does
enter this year will be the road course races because everyone knows he can't drive an oval!

You know Gina, I am betting you would be seriously lost in your knowledge without google.

Well.here is some googled info for you:

http://racing-reference.info/driver?id=gordoro01

That's his stats in every series he has ever driven in.
Considering he is an owner driver that does his own marketing, he has been able to keep his car on the track for every race and then some, and as of his press conference yesterday, the # 7 will be fielded at every race this year, with either him, or a driver of his choice behind the wheel.

Hate him all you want. The fact that he has maintained, and gets out there every week, bottom line honey, let's see you do it!

IDC about your opinion, you are entitled to it, but the fact that someone that prides herself on being "the biggest Nascar fan Evah"
can call any driver  a "joke", well, I guess my idea of being a Nascar Fan and yours are just very very different.

Honey post away there is nothing in my life that isn't an open book. Nothing I have ever done am I ashamed of. And as far as taking this to private message, the last time I tried that with Gina, she emailed every moderator and told them I was harassing her.

Don't threaten me Gina, cos it just doesn't hold water. Nothing you can ever say, would embarrass me in any way shape or form.

I am a fan of both Robby and of JPM for their accomplishments.  Do I like everything they do? No, but Robby has shown he can be successful in other forms of racing.  I think it rankles him that he hasn't had more success in NASCAR than he has, but he does like to call the shots rather than follow directions from others and that may work against him.  I do wish him success in whatever he does do and look forward to seeing the 7 on the track every week, no matter who is behind the wheel.

As for JPM, he has accomplished what he set out to do.  He said give him three years and he has proven he is in NASCAR to stay.  I wish him success as well.  I'm not into the driver "love fest" but I respect each and every driver who straps into a car each and every week at this level of competition, doing what we all only wish we could do.
