LOL!  Lane Kiffen was a USC Trojan long before he even went to Tennessee- he worked with Pete Carroll for many years as the Scouting Director, Wide receivers/Tight End Coach, and eventually the Offensive Coordinator. He was on the USC Coaching Staff from 2001-2006 and as the Offensive Coordinator- Kiffen went 23-3 (88% win percentage) and broke nearly every USC Offensive record in existence!  His DREAM job was Head Coach of the USC Trojans and Tennessee was FULLY AWARE of this at his hiring! When the job actually became available, he bolted to USC- can you really blame him for following his dream?

Kiffen himself has not proven much at the head coaching position he had an excellant staff when Monte leaves we will see how he does on his own and Dooley will do fine you will see

Thank you for pointing out the same points every analyst and sports site can tell and have already told the nation. But any one and done deal for your program will make you feel bitter like others.

Now can I blame him for going after his 'dream job', of course not. I think most people would make the same decision if given that type of opportunity.

But for now I wanna hope that he sucks it up at SC and horrid things happen for your so cal program. And then I hope Dooley remains a straight-up guy that won't accrue multiple violations and sticks to true character in his duration.

Honestly, the "blame" actually rests on the University of Tennessee for hiring Kiffen to begin with- not with Kiffen. As I said, they were fully aware that IF the USC Job became available- Kiffen would bolt if it were offered to him. They took a "chance" and it backfired on them because really who knew that Carroll would leave so soon. I know it's easy to point the finger at Kiffen and harbor bad feelings towards him and the USC Trojans, but really- the finger should squarely be pointed at Tennessee and their own ignorance!  There were PLENTY of other Coaches that Tennessee could have hired that were even MORE qualified than Kiffen- but they were blinded by his "track record" at USC and hoped he could bring that kind of success to their program- in turn- turning a blind eye at the reality of the hiring and the ramifications IF the USC job became available!

Both have nepotism to thank for boosting their careers, especially Lane.  Lane's advantage is that he can get a great staff around him, and his meal ticket, his father Monte, is one of the greatest defensive coaches of all time.

Hah. UT, or shall I say the name Mike Hamilton yet again, is at fault for hiring the douche when it comes down to it.
I also have that bitter taste left over after his departure, but he did what just about anyone would in that situation. Kiffin (not KiffEn) should count himself an extremely blessed man with his court of coaches surrounding him, not so much on his mere coaching though. Time will tell, and all will be revealed.
I like what Dooley brings to the table with his class and character thus far, so we'll see. I hope he'll be that great fit for Vol Nation, and would love to see Kiffin taken off the pedestal a bit.

Who the hell hires Lane Kiffin? Sure he's an excellent recruiter, and he's always gonna have an excellent staff. Then there is always the fact that he gives you the "our coaches wife is hotter than yours", which is a bonus. But Dooley has a coaching pedigree too. He's smart and was able to pull in a decent staff and it's hard to say how good it was because of Kiffin but whatever it didn't suck. Anyway's back to Kiffin. UT was desperate and Hamilton made the decision of a failing AD.

Kiffin will be able to keep USC where they are. Sure he's a mini-Carroll which is good enough for a Vols fan but is that good enough for USC? It's only a matter of time before Daddy retires and Oregeron gets the interest to lead a team and then we'll see how far Kiffin can take a team alone. So yeah right now, I'd take Dooley. Now that the dust has settled I think both programs are better off. UT has the type of coach that cares about history and respects the SEC and USC gets a dick to match their douche fan base and will eventually crash and burn ending in sanctions and probation. Everyone wins.

Much can be said of Hamilton instead of the University. You know what,  SoCal deserves their golden boy back and UT deserves someone who actually gives a damn about their program and pride. Dooley's pedigree may not shimmer to the likings of a flaming SC fan, but the way he carries himself will serve better for those respecting the game more.

Then maybe the UT fans should stop crying like little b%^ches and just deal with their own situation instead of worrying about a REAL Football Program in Southern California!  Just a thought!   After all, from reading some comments from "some UT Fans"- USC's fanbase is a bunch of "Douche"s" anyway- so what the hell are you guys actually b%^ching about? But hey, maybe someday UT can actually play in a REAL BCS Bowl Game- but I really don't see that happening anytime soon....  Good luck with your new Coach!

Just to add one little thing here, what the hell did the USC fanbase have to do with Lane Kiffin and his decision to leave UT?  Do you really think we wanted to lose Pete Carroll?  I didn't (nor did ANY USC fan) say ANYTHING derrogatory towards UT or their Fanbase until UT fans started running their sucks- that is a FACT!

what is a real BCS Bowl game? I'm not aware of unreal BCS Bowl games. Let's wait until USC plays in a REAL official legitimate power football conference.( FYI I'm calling the Pac-10 a bad football conference.) I'm sure if you had to play the competition the SEC has you would miss out on the "REAL BCS Bowl games". I'm fine agreeing to disagree. You got your hot shot Carroll disciple. We got a guy that fits us as well.

Now as far as douches go everyone has them. But the SEC in general has less of them.

Did the flaming part torch your skirt a bit there?  Whoops. And we are dealing with our own situation so take notice..which btw did you notice our top 10 recruiting class even after losing our coaching staff and still having a sucky AD? Wth, a ''REAL'' program? A Real program goes beyond the flashy 5 stars and blue chip booster arrangements.
How about you try being in, truly, the toughest conference, through it all, year in and year out.
Thanks for the good luck!

Blah, blah, blah.......    We are the BEST, the PAC-10 sucks......   Blah, Blah, Blah........      Heard it ALL before and all it is- REGURGITATED GARBAGE!       Win your Conference first, before you brag about how great your Conference actually is......  Personaly, I don't care about the SEC or how GREAT SEC fans think their Conference is, all I care about is the USC Trojans- (not the PAC-10 either)-  and as long as the Trojans keep winning- I'm happy. Unlike SEC fans, USC fans don't brag about their Conference or live off of the accolades and awards of other teams in their Conference either- all they care about is their own team- period!  Who cares how great the SEC has been in the past- the only thing that should matter to you UT fans is how great the Volunteers are!

No, you said nothing against the UT fan base. You did call UT ignorant for thinking a guy would honor a contract. Kiffin has taken shots at the fan base because of the passion. Yeah, some of us got a little crazy when we heard he was leaving but that's the South for you. You may have not even taken a shot at us but when you put down a school that plays in the toughest conference your just asking to get it back. Subtle shots are still shots. Hell if we had the type of athletes home grown like USC and played in one of the weaker conferences again like USC we'd be pounding out 1 loss seasons too.

You don't brag b/c you can't brag. By playing in this conference you basically get an automatic bid to play for the National Championship in a tie breaker situation. Suck on it. You'll keep winning and you can keep being happy but I'm confident that Kiffin is not gonna get you there without leaving the school with probation.

My point was that Tennessee KNEW of the possibility of Kiffin leaving IF the USC Head Coaching position became available and they hired him anyway! That IS ignorance no matter how much you spin it. It wasn't a shot at all- it was a very truthful statement. I would have said the same thing if USC would have done a bonehead move like that as well. I mean seriously Bro, if you owned a Company would you hire a CEO to run it if there was a great possibility that he would leave if his "Dream Job" became available? Probably not huh?

I definitely stated that Kiffin is a douche. After watching his tears on ESPN from the Oakland situation I felt sorrow for the guy..of course I dislike Al Davis anyway so there was some extra reasoning. And then his resume at USC appealed much to my liking. But, he was an instant douche in my mind as soon as he accepted UT's coaching invitation. Been nothing less ever since, and I know to expect nothing less in the future now that he has the reigns at his Alma-mater. I want him to epically fail because of stirring the pot so much in Knoxville (and in the SEC) including; infractions, false accusations, and not* checking his homework. He never represented like he should have, and fits right in where he went back to. Luckily for Kiffin the light will be shining on him without the need for desperate comments and actions, it's USC (and LA).

It's one thing to brag and not have a good team or program, but it's another when FACTS are around to give you assistance in your argument. UT is part of this conference that makes them so good, but you can't help discrediting Rocky Top. Conference-wise, the University of Tennessee will be mentioned in the conversation with the SEC. Creepy? Seriously?

will do, friend. We will attempt to try to win the conference. How is it creepy? Didn't know that boasting about our conference would make you nervous or freaked out. Are you joking me? You cannot compare the Vols in the SEC to the bottom feeder of the NFC east and one of the most pitiful NFL teams. You are losing the argument, bro'. UT doesn't take 'WEIRD' credit for jackSH#T. We earn credit where credit is due. 7-5 and 5-7 the past 2 seasons, just awful indeed I can say! Heck 5-7 in 2005 was misery. But other than that, track record and program stature is great. Given the circumstances in these recent years, I'd say there is no 'weird' credit being accepted.*
