What would you do with 10 Million dollars? (Edited 02/21/10 02:19AM by kramer)
Pch is running a contest and the prize for one of them is 10 milliom dollars.
I would just like to find out what most would do with that much money if you were to win it.
Now keep in mind that this amount is paid out over several years, you get paid around 300,000 a month.

I would quit my job and try to buy a "second" home in Cancun! I would then try to open up a Bar/Dance Club in Cancun or maybe become an investor in one!  And of course, some of the money would go to Charities (mainly abused kids and Cancer charities).

i'd start a bank. let it go to sh*t with risky investments. wait for a couple hundred million in bailout funds. use that to buy a country. become friends with the usa and beg for foreign aid dollars.  sell useless crap back to the usa. i  figure at the end of 5 years of business as usual i'd have collected a billion or more. buy a few lobbyists and  payoff a few legislators and have them keep the money rolling in. declare myself leader for life and be a puppet of the usa as long as the price is right.  of course i'll need a few crooked associates who will earn many millions per year in bonuses and perks. these loyal minions will be selected from THE LOCKER ROOM.  applications being accepted now.

I don't want $10M. Money makes people go mad..Im content with my financial situation so I guess if I actually entered the PCH sweeps and won I would give it all (or what you get after the IRS fu**s you out of it) to youth charities that sponsor programs for the AQHA, NRHA, NCHA to fund kids to compete in equestrian sports and youth rodeos.

Ten Million Dollars, well after the IRS got their share I would probably have enough left to build a homeless shelter for families that have children.. I love children and I love animals..(the four legged ones) , soooo, I would probably open a pet rescue center also.. That has been something I have wanted t do for a long time.. I have a soft spot for abused children and animals..

Actually, I would donate to charities.  I'm involved with the Rotary Club.  One of our International Projects is donating "Shelter Boxes".  These are self-contained boxes which have tents, food and supplies that can allow people to live for a few months...(www.shelterboxusa.org)  The contents vary based on the disaster...but all boxes have a 10 person tent, along with water purification tablets, cooking stoves, etc.  A box costs approximately $950.00 USD...I would donate a lot of money to them. My local club has donated boxes that wound up in Haiti, Africa and in Sri Lanka in 2004 with the tsunami.

I'd still teach, but I'd hire some college kid to help me run off stuff and grade. My family would get large chunks, several charities I support now would get even larger chunks from me, and I would buy a house near the beach. The rest would go into savings.

I'd give it all to poor people...wait that's me!!! so I'd keep it all for myself. Just kidding. I think I'd do something for kids in need, they're the most vulnerable part of society and deserve all our attention. And homeless people with mental problems, it's sad how they are rejected. I think they just need a little of care and affection.

2.  I already have a couple savings accounts, but I'd probably start another one because, with that much money, why the hell not?
3.  I think I'd keep the home I have and just fix it up to my liking.
4.  If I quit working, I'd be out-of-my-mind bored in a month.  I think I'd cut back on work and take a lot more time off, but I'd still keep my job.

Ok.. not to be a bi**h or anything, but the US is in trillions of dollars in debt, and were sending all this money and aid to haiti, I think we should fix our problems first before fixing other country's. Yes, its to bad what happened there..but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. As a way of putting it nicely.

People expect the US to send aid, and if they dont send the most, they get ridiculed by everyone. You think the US is hated now, how bad do you think it would be if we didnt send foreign aid.  It is a lose lose situation unfortunately.

Well its not government money that would be going to Haiti. The question was if you won ten million dollars would you do with it. I am sure no one is going to give their ten million to the US Gov't.....just saying...

Right.. but what was said was "give to haiti".. What I was saying was if you do win the 10M instead of shipping it out of the country..keep it in the US, use it here, pay bills, pay off your cars, buy a new house, give to american charities that will keep the money here...Now I know 1 person doing that aint much help but we could use all the finacial help we can get. You send that 10M out thats 10M less we have..

She can do whatever she wants with that $10 million, it's her money.  We wouldn't be in so much debt if we weren't in Iraq, but that's a discussion for another day.

It certainly sounds like you are telling her what to do with her money.  If she wants to give it to the people in Haiti, let her, who really cares?  It's not your position to tell her how to spend it.

How do you draw the line with a country that was completely devastated? Not by war that we are waging against them but by an earthquake. Their children need medical supplies, food, water, clothes. how do you draw a line with that?  You know I am a single mother raising 2 daughters times are hard but I still managed to find 25.00 to send to a people that are in need of the most basic necessities.

What about the american children who's parent's house was forclosed on?, lost their jobs? Just has the haitians didnt want to have a natural disaster destroy their entire country, many americans dont want to be homeless and jobless. Our kids need health care, food, clothes too. Oh well...

Yes they do, very much it is a crime that in the richest country in the world children go to bed hungry. And these people that we elect seem to put things ahead of them. We as Americans can also do more. My families restaurant is a big contributor to the ozarks harvest food bank.  My family and I are blessed and we do all we can. i think when a natural disaster strikes it just brings out the best in all of us.

Blonde kitten is exactly right!!! We (America) should not be in Haiti. As to why i say that is they (Haiti) arrested several americans as we are over there "trying to help", if they want to arrest us for "helping" then get out of there country and stay out... thats all the proof we need to stay in our own country!
