Hi Friends!
Welcome to this week's installment of "Who Wants My FanIQ Fanny?"
Who Wants My FanIQ Fanny? 3/1 Crown! <span style="font-size:12px;">(Edited 02/27/10 05:26AM by Jess)</span> Photo
This week's trophy goes to cubsgirl2 for her thoughtful tribute to an old friend of the Q. The news of Jim's (Superstar123) passing was incredibly heartbreaking, but Glenda was kind enough to break it to us all in a way that we could share our feelings and maybe reminisce a little. Thank you Glenda - and congratulations.

First time here? Here's how it works:
I choose the polls according to these criteria:
  • They must be Locker Room polls
  • They must be original (no ongoing series polls...I will do a one-time award for them another time)
  • They must have active participation in the forum
  • "This or That" one-question polls don't really work for me...put some thought into it :)
  • They must not be set to "Never Close"
A few specifics:
  • Moderators can participate
  • Polls with a combination of high respect and a high number of comments will be the first to be considered for the voting poll.
  • Some polls with high respect counts won't make it in if they're negative, bashing the Q, Locker Room, etc.
  • Qualifying polls for each weekly award are posted from Friday - Thursday each week
  • The polls submitted Friday before each voting cycle count toward next week's poll. Each Friday evening or Saturday morning will start the weekend voting. Got it?
The winner of the poll each week will have their name put on my Fanny. I will upload the new award into my photo collection so the winner can add it to theirs, save it, etc. and use it as they wish.

 Yes it does,  and I hope that he somehow was able to see the overwhelming feelings that people felt for him. Right before Jim died Lesa and I shared a few messages, and she told me that although she always knew how much Jim was loved and respected he never felt that way, he never knew. All I could say to her is that I believe a day comes when we all know how much we were loved. And you guys really stepped up and showed him that that is true. Damn i'm crying so hard I have to stop. Ok well sorry for the rambling.

 Some more great stuff out there this week - we're almost using up all 20 of our options - if it gets to be more than 20 great ones out there we'll have to change the poll format to "list". Great job, everyone!

 I move a motion that a limit is placed on polls per creator. Yruwet has 5 nominations and I have 4, (that's over 50% combined - throw in Billiepal and it's up to 70% + for the combo of 3).

I feel like Uncle Pennybags with this Monopoly.

 wtf? if you don't like it here, nobody's holding a gun to your head. There's plenty of other sports sites to join if you don't feel like this is the place for you. I don't see anything about a green bean poll and there isn't anything dirty (corrupt) going on, that's why we have a fair vote to choose on our own preferences. It's an even democracy for the people, not a forced communism of voting for who they say so.

I actually thought about that, but in going through all of the great polls that get a lot of interaction, if we put a limit on polls per creator it would dramatically dwindle the number of polls to choose from. We have some excellent polls out there - and if they're only coming from a few people then I guess those people just have a better chance at the Fanny. Hopefully more people will join in the fun - and it's ok to feel like Uncle Pennybags - you guys who have several polls up there obviously work hard and strive for quality :)

 Thats a series poll, no series poll. and it has always been never set to close polls aren't eligible

 Great job, Glenda. It was a touching tribute to Jim. Not sure about this week. I want to get in the running-- just not feeling too imaginative at the moment.

The "Never Close" thing isn't necessarily an enforced rule for the site but it's a preference (we almost always edit them to close at some point, especially if they get featured; a featured poll must have a close date) - only because we like to give the poll a chance to be "resurrected" by any future members or even the same creator later down the road when there's a lot of new people on the site. Also, the "never close" polls get buried anyway, so they're not likely to get a lot of attention after a certain amount of time.

With the "Who Said It" polls - I'm thinking of doing maybe an annual Fanny type award for the series polls, and doing the first one within the next couple of weeks...so you'll be able to show your love for those very soon :)
