No Love For Johnson!
Jimmie Johnson hit the verge of greatness in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - but the defending Four Time champion's achievements have rarely been recognized.  With three races in and Jimmie winning two of them it seems the fans are not happy.  I did some searching and found comments accusing him and Chad of cheating, that he is just "vanilla", people are tired of seeing him win and that he is just so boring that people are tired of seeing him.

What is your opinion on Jimmie?

Jimmie Johnson is to auto racing what Tiger Woods is to golf in terms of his dominance on the track.  What surprises me is how many people embrace Woods and his dominance in winning almost every tournament that he plays in yet somehow, Johnson cant get the same type of respect and admiration.  Like it or not, Jimmie Johnson is just that damn good and until other teams can consistenly catch up with what Hendrick Motorsports is doing, expect Johnson to be at the front of the pack many more times when the checkered flag flies

I respect for what he has done. Winning 4 championships and winning 49 races so far in his career. I think what propelled him was the confidence Jeff Gordon had in him to want him driving for him. His Busch(Nationwide) career was not that spectacular he had one win. Yes he is Vanilla, and sometimes I think Chad is stretching the rules a bit, and maybe Chad is stealing all the good parts at Hendrick Motorsports. With all that said since I am a Hendrick and Jeff Gordon fan I do like Jimmie but some times it does get old seeing the same driver winning all the time. It happened with Gordon in the nineties, the same with Johnson now.

I think Johnson can't get the respect is because of the anti-Gordon sentiment. Since Gordon is part owner with Rick Hendrick. I also think there is a lot of jealousy among drivers (both current and former). It is just an ego thing with the drivers. As for fans they are loyal to their drivers and nothing is going to change that either. It is just like in baseball you either hate or love the Yankees.

With what Jimmie has accomplished in his career DESERVES all the respect and admiration he gets...unfortunately he doesn't get enough.  Sure fans of other drivers are sick of seeing him win, but that shouldn't take away from the fact that he has worked hard and earned it.   He's out there doing his job, putting racing first and foremost above partying or "Living the Lifestyle"...plain and simple...which is what more drivers should be doing.  That's not boring....that is determination and skill.  Instead of putting Jimmie down for what he does well, or trying to detract from it.....fans should be looking to their drivers to keep up or step up.  As Scott said...like it or not, Jimmie is THAT DAMN GOOD!!  It is up to the other teams and drivers to step it up and keep up with Hendrick Motorsports and their drivers.  Jimmie took the Cup 4th time in 2009, but look at the chase.....he wasn't the only Hendrick boy in there.  3 in the top 5....Hendrick is doing something right!!  Now I wanna see if their #4 will step it up this year and have all 4 boys in the chase.  That would be great!!!

Just cause I think Jimmie is Vanilla, doesnt mean I dont respect what he has done. He is a great driver. I dont have to like it.........I can't get all lovey for the guy and thats just how it is...he's not my driver and I won't root for him just because he's done his job....I do agree the other teams need to step it up.....Hendricks is a powerhouse, a force to be reckoned with...I just hope the season is filled with lots of excitement.....

You are so right!!   I disliked Richard Petty so much back in the day when he won everything.  He had the big money backing him when he won so much and the others didn't.   Same with Cale , Darrell,  Dale Sr and Jeff Gordon.  I am one of those fans that pick an underdog and once they start winning it all i move on to another underdog.  lol  I did pick  "million dollar Bill"  and stuck with him as a driver til he quit winning.  I was a Jimmy Johnson fan his first couple of years, mostly because his sponsor is Lowe's,  a local firm.  In reality.  i love all my nascar guys and wish them nothing but the best.  Go Kyle!!!

I prefer an underdog driver to win then someone who wins all the time. That is as long as Mark Can't win

I nether love nor hate Jimmie Johnson, but I do believe he is getting better cars or parts or something. I agree that Chad is a good crew chief, but you have to wonder how it is Jimmie is winning so much when the other teams at Hendrick Motorsports aren't doing well. With Jr.'s cars--engines failing race after race (last season)--something has to be wrong with the equipment. I am personally a Jr fan. From the first race I remember watching, he's been my number 1 driver. If he can't win, I want Carl Edwards or Kasey Kahne. Anyone but Kyle Bush!!!!

Every week that a race is on i am soooo rooting for my boy Smoke. It gets old seeing the same team win time and time again. With that said the # 48 team has they're shit together. It drives me nuts.So now i refer to him as Jimmie who?

I watched an interview with JJ.  The man has NO personality to him.  He is just plain.  He shows no emotions.  Even when he wins, he doesn't act as happy as the other drivers.  I think that is the main reason I just don't care for him.  That and I still think him and Chad have some secret weapon!

Thus the nic: Vanilla.....I saw a week or so ago Jimmie was on the CMT Countdown show, and he was trying really hard to put some actions and facial expressions into his answers...It was sorta painful to watch. But, I guess, winning all those races and the 4 championships, does he really need a personality?

Jimmie is a great driver, possibly one of the best NASCAR drivers ever to race. I am not a fan, but I respect his talent.

I do admit to getting tired of watching him win sunday after sunday, though.
