Read the Article: Who ya got? Pacquiao vs Clottey and Soto vs Diaz
Well, we're finally here! This Saturday HBO presents the first mega fight of 2010 when Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) takes on super-tough Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KOs). There are plenty of threads already floating around on the Q about this fight, so I'll leave it to them to give you all the commentary and background on this fight. But I will say that this is going to be a heck of a fight between two really good fighters.
There are about 20 fights on the undercard, it seems, but the biggest of them is the one between Humberto Soto (50-7-2, 32 KOs) and David Diaz (35-2-1, 17 KOs) for the vacant WBC lightweight (135 lbs) championship. Soto is the current WBC junior lightweight (130 lbs) champion and is the #1 ranked junior lightweight in the world. He's moving up in weight to take on former lightweight champ Diaz. Dias is perhaps most famous for his victory over the legendary Erik Morales. Diaz lost his title, by KO, to Manny Pacquiao in 2008.
I agree with Dan Rafael at ESPN.com (and others) that say it is kind of a disgrace to have a somewhat low caliber fight between Soto and Diaz as the main undercard on a major PPV. But hey, you get what you get.
Also, if you want to watch this fight you can get a discount on it by buying Tecate beer. Tecate will give you $20 back on the price of the PPV if you buy a 12 pk of Tecate or Tecate Light. You can get the details here:
So, who ya got?
