Going down now, going down......................
Man , When I first found the Q I as stoked! Adults having adult conversations, sarcasm understood for what it was, and great literary talent read and respected. Last week, the Martinsville thread stayed on the Home Page for 5 days after the race.
The Q is slipping, and we are losing incredible people left & right. The Bleacher Report articles mainly suck, and the change here as far as intelligent posting is majorly noticeable.

Are ya'll so cliqued out that you you don't care if the Q dies by the wayside?

There is a lot of talent out there.....why so silent?

You are right Andy, the Q used to be slammin all day and night. I don't know what happened. There used to be a few that would leave occasionally and now just in the last few days, we've lost even more people. Wish I had an answer for you.

I agree Andi.  Even though I don't have as much time to be on here as some of the others, I've noticed how "cliquish" it has become.  Especially when I would take the time to write something and if anyone did take the time to read it, it was mainly people who talked to me.  Seems the Locker Room gets more attention than any place else on the site and even there it's mainly the same people all the time.

Agree completely, I've got to be honest I rarely come online now. I've never been as dedicated as some people on this site but I used to come on whenever possible, but now I'm talking once or twice a week for 5-10 minutes. A lot of the opinions on this site tend to be 1-5 word answers that don't really add anything to the thread, and when people post things like "hi nice to meet you how are you...etc" that is really really annoying. Maybe if there were more people who had intelligent things to say more often instead of us being stuck with the Bleacher reports...I really don't know. I love the site, but there again being from England I don't tend to be online when most of you Americans are. I don't know but I hope faniq picks up soon

they are focused on the Gambling aspect...You can only run a "free" site for so long before you need some revenue.  The News feeds and articles are pathetic since Pat has left.  Sad Times on the Q but I think most "intelligent" folks can figure out what exactly is ruining it.

I agree with the gambling aspect, if I was running a business then the first thing I would want to do is make money so I can't really complain that thats what they're doing. At the same time though you need other features such as the news threads and other debates/polls to encourage people to stay. The bread and butter of the site was always people filling messageboards and creating material for the site, but with the decline of peoples input we're turning into a gambling site with the odd poll and debate here and there

Thats what I was saying...I am NOT putting any money into the site...I used to get my sports news from here...now If i fell asleep for a week or was in a coma, I could log into the front page and get my news

For me Jen, the NASCAR section is the one thing that really keeps me interested in the site. Over here very few people are interested in NASCAR so its good to have people to discuss and debate the sport with on here, People who are knowledgable, intelligent and rational (sometimes). The people on the NASCAR section are superb. The polls are great and Debi's articles cover all the bases as do the ones submitted by many of the other memvers. It's a shame the rest of the site isn't as great as that section.

Now my main sport is football (soccer). On faniq its dominated by people who support Manchester United (ie the best team) who's opinions consist of my team is the best so why should I care about your cr*p little team (in my case Bolton Wanderers). The articles are non existent apart from Bleacher reports and the polls are repetitive and pretty uninteresting. Whenever I make a poll or an article you get more of the same of what I've just described. Thats the kind of thing that annoys me about the new faniq, as the soccer section used to have a lot of interesting members like the NASCAR section. I still love faniq but there need to be some things changed to encourage newer members for more of the sections. Creativity is a brilliant thing but I don't think it should be restricted to the locker room and one or two other sports...

I get what your saying. I think? I have had some ideas rolling around in my head about spotlighting different drivers. Just not sure how to put it down on paper so to speak. I did some research on Paul Menard, just cause he has sparked my interest. He is a very interesting guy.  I was thinking of doing a mini bio and maybe that would spark some more "discussions". Again, not sure what Andi is wanting, will wait to hear from her. Sorry I can't help you on the Soccer thing.....but, Thank you for calling us Nascar fans here on the Q, "interesting"....now I am off to read the: "How To"...here and see if I can contribute something interesting that will spark some lively conversation/debates.

I adore Debi's writing, and this is not Nascar related. That is the only area of this site that actually keeps me here!
It is the site in general. This is an all round sports site, and yet the same threads have been on the Home page for a week now. As aggravating as Pat could be at times, he kept things current and interesting. Geoff has also been noticeably absent, and the general upkeep around here has slipped.Just my opinion, but apparently there are others here that see the same things as I do, judging by my private messages, and some of the comments in here.

Hey Andi, yes i think ur correct. I'm not much in to any other sport other then racing. NASCAR is not the only form of racing and there doesn't seems to be a place for USAC, Late model, NHRA. Whether it's asphalt, concrete or one of my favs dirt! Would luv to other avenues for other forms of racing as well. Great poll. Thanks.

very good points John, I've got to say for one I think your polls are great. Now I've started going on other parts of the site less the NASCAR section is the only one I go on really apart from the odd foray into the soccer or F1 polls. I'm not really interested in the locker room as a lot of the things talked about seem a bit pointless and not that interesting and I've got facebook for that . The NASCAR sections great and I for one am going to try and contribute much more to the NASCAR section.

Hey, we are NOT old! Just seasoned Veterans.   I personally really appreciate what you do for the Nascar Section.  I would like to see more personal interaction over here also.  I my Nascar Friends!
#19 | 1142 days ago

Okay guys, I'm going to try to weigh in here for a moment.  First off, thanks to all of you who have given NASCAR a vote of confidence.  I am working more in my personal life with a much more awkward schedule, so i haven't been able to "patrol" the site as much as I'd like for polls, quizzes, etc to feature on NASCAR or any other sport for that matter.

I am still writing NASCAR articles as much as possible, and will continue to do so.  If anyone else has written an artilce, just shoot me the link.  It has to be well written (duh), and follow the guidelines given as far as all CAPS, spelling, grammar, etc. and be covering a subject but also promoting discussion.  In other words, don't write "Dale Jr is the best driver because he is" and leave it at that.  i'm sure for most of you this is redundant, but.........
I am online as often as I can be, so if you have any questions about ANY sport and writing about it, doing polls, quizzes, etc., just shoot to me or any mod.  If you see spam, again, please shoot me a quick message.

Okay, so here's the thing.  the site IS changing, and honestly, I anticipate it will change more - no, I don't have any insider info, I'm just seeing the direction - so if you guys want to see stuff, keep saying so here or in other polls.  *I* read, even though I may not comment, and I'm sure other mods and employees do as well.  I don't have any pull, but the membership needs to continue to speak up.  Just leaving will not get the message across.

And just for information purposes, while I can feature things to the Best of Web, the top five stories I believe Andi is talking about is not accessible to myself.  I do not know who all does have access, but given that it isn't changed as often, I'm thinking it is one of those things I anticipate being "changed".  i suggest you bookmark the Best of Web page where you see all the stories, not just the top five.   That way you ARE getting the most current stories.

Again, guys and gals, thanks for this.  If I can help anyone, just let me know, okay?

FanIq was different a few years ago...buit I still like it here. Right now about the only sport I care about at the moment is NASCAR and there are some very knowledgeable people here that I enjoy reading. It's also nice to not be flamed every time I post!

Nope, it isn't on any page, so I provided the link, and then I suggest you bookmark it in your web-browser.  That's they way I did it - put it up on my Favorites Bar so i can grab it with one click.  Pain in the ass, I know, but it was my only option.  Other than that, the only way is to click on an article you have commented on - new comments appear on your Wall, and you can see what's been said -  then click on "More" on the right hand side to take you to the Best of Web.  Again, I know it's clumbsy, but Playbook and Quick Fantasy have become the focus of the site, and that's what they are promoting.

I agree Andi and Debi. Earlier in the week I was saying how the content in some of the sections has deteriorated a little, so the solution was to in effect get rid of those sections and promote faniq as a betting site with "other games" rather than we want it to be-a dedicated fan site with some of the most intelligent sports watchers in the world. I emailed faniq with my opinions/ways for improvement when I logged on last night and found the changes but I doubt that will help. I think it was you Debi who said that you thought there were more changes in the offing-you were right sadly. Unfortunately I'm getting really disolusioned with the site and tbh I'm considering just not bothering with anything other than our NASCAR section. I have a betting shop 5 minutes away from my house so if I want to put a bet on I'll go there rather than on faniq. Money or not, the original purpose of faniq as far as I remember it was to give sports fans a platform to air their views, and unfortunately that platform seems to have been lost. Congratulations faniq, keep up the good work

Sorry, Andi, but I am never in a million years going to take Edwards while you take Jr.  It just aint going to happen  so any challenges you sent to me of that sort were refused.

I went to the Public Bets and accepted the ones I wanted to.  I've played the house a lot as well, for the above reason.  I do understand, and I agree, I don't know why the drop downs were taken away - it has only complicated the use of the site. However, the Playbook and Quick Fantasy ARE incredibly popular. The statistics have shown, the popularity of those two features has already far outweighs every other aspect of the site - that's why they are being promoted even more.

I like to read and post news links but I am not an author. Everybody has their own idea as to what makes this site so interesting/fun. It seems to me this is a business and as such must follow the money in order to survive.

The majority of them I played the house.  MEanwhile I have to jump rthrough 40 blazing hoops just to get to the race thread.........

Sorry, but this last change may have done me in.
if it wasn't for the people like us on the NASCAR section faniq wouldn't have kept going long enough to become so profitable with the new gambling sections. I appreciate they are making money on it but I agree with you...why should I have to go through "blazing hoops" to get to one of the only sections of the site worth visiting anymore. It wouldn't have been too hard to include the fan articles dropdown or the iindividual sports dropdowns would it? Instead all I see is gambling, gambling, gambling and "other games". These latest changes are deffinately NOT an improvement on the site as it just makes it similar to other gambling sites instead of giving us the uniqueness we used to have on here
Will anyone even notice if I write someting intelligent?

Holy cow, I just noticed I have 48 more respects to give today which leads me to believe I started with 50.

How kool, too bad there is no one left to give them to, and the sports articles are buried!
