1. I've always obeyed both of my parents even though my dad barely been in my life, he still got that respect.

2. I once got in an argument with my dad and cursed his ass out for the pain of him not being in my life as I was growing up, I told him I'd spit in his coffin when he pass away.

3. I talk behind my dad's back plenty of times, i don't feel bad about it.

I do feel bad about talking about my mom saying she can't hold water.

4. I am the oldest of 3, my brother and sister got blamed for all the sneaky things I did. My mom knows about it now from a little gathering we've had as we all laughed about it.

5. I have a good relationship with both my parents, even my dad, he understood my pain  and he apologized for his absence, we hugged and cried together, he is the reason I am an excellent father to my 4 kids and all their other siblings of deadbeat dads. ( I never want my kids to feel the pain of a living dad not in their lives.)

I wanna give a shout out to all my children and their siblings, dad will always be there for you as long as I'm living.

I'm sorry IQ peeps the love for my kids is a big thing for me and I kind of get carried away about them. (Can't blame me for being a proud loving dad.)

#1 -- I am devious.  I was good at disobeying them without them ever finding out.

#4 -- I answered NO...not because I was an angel but I was an only child so I had no siblings to blame things on.  And you can only blame so much on the dog.

#5 -- We get along OK.  Since I'm the only child, they want to be more involved in my life than I want them to be.  I'm a very private person and they don't always respect that.

My relationship with my parents is stable.  I don't see them often since I am halfway across the country.  Talk to them about once a week.  See them about once a year, altho they are coming out for the nebraska wake forest game.  Once i realized they just wanted what was best for me, it was easier to get along.

1)  Not all the time.  There were times I felt my parents were giving me bad advice and I went my own way.

2)  I don't care how old you are, there's no good reason to curse in front of your parents.  Out of respect, find another way to express yourself.

3)  Not only did I talk about them behind their back, I vented my frustrations right in their faces many times.  I never called them any names or wished ill on them, though.

4)  I either said "I didn't do it" or "I don't know"; sometimes both.  Later on I either tried to hide what I did or just took the blame.

5)  It's probably gotten worse as time has gone on.  I trust in them less and I don't think I've earned their respect yet.

My relationship with my parents is great, they came over last night to BBQ and drink adult beverages with us. I wasn't in much trouble as a kid, because I was lucky. Now I tell them things that we did and they can't believe I never got caught. It is a different time now though, I have been out of their house for 25 years. Back in the day a kid had a lot more freedom and still felt safe. Now you have to watch every move your kid makes. My 3 sisters and parents all live within 10 minutes of eachother and we still see eachother frequently. The Grandkids even go to the same schools and play on the same teams.

Damn, you are makin me cry, right now kids about your age today is trying to grow up too fast, thinking yall know more than your parents.

Parents today is a lot more bitter because of that.

Do something creative, get into something active that will make your parents proud, stay away from the nonsense, and if you are talking back to your parents, you need to stop, it doesn't make anything better.

It's best to stay a kid as long as you can, b/c being grown is not easy.

And if your parents is not giving you the love you yearning for after my advice, you should still respect them, but use it as a motivation to give your children the love you wanted when you have them. When you get older not now. LOL

Keep your head up it will get better.

I was an only child.  My mom had three strokes the day I was born and she was left paralyzed on her right side till the day she died; unknown to me she blamed me for he paralysis.  My father was unbelievable; he traveled Mon.-Fri. for his job but on the weekends he was "mine."  Coached all my teams; played catch and coached me in all my sports---thinking back I wonder how he spent time with mom although I know he did.

But, he died of a sudden massive coronary when I was thirteen.  Mom couldn't work and we moved from Texas to Illinois and the wedge between mom and I was forced even deeper.  Our relationship grew worse and worse; peaceful co-existence became the norm because I worked fulltime to help support us and 2/3rds of my check went into the home.

While in Vietnam (20-21 years of age) I made an attempt to reach out to her and we became friends through the exhange of letters and audio tapes.  We were able to get an understanding of why she blamed me for her paralysis and my dad's death even.  We laid it all out on the table.

When I got home we had a tremendous relationship waiting for us.  Mom and her son!  We had this loving and terrific relationship for five years until her death.  It meant the world to me to have had that relationship after all the crap I gave her.  I know that dad would've been happy that we closed the gap between us!

I know, more than you wanted to know:  However, I guess I'm saying this because if you have a strained relationship you must make the first move to heal it---it is critical!  You never know how long you have with those who really do love you the most.  Take the first step---even if it fails!  You'll be blessed for it!

I was an ok kid.  I find even now there are rules put forth by my parents I still follow.  My Mom was always harping on me when I went out with friends to make sure I carried my id with me (her reasoning being in case of a wreck they could idnetify my body and call her quicker) and wear sunscreen.  As an adult- i still feel a twinge of guilt (you know- that "I'm gonna get in trouble" feeling) when I forget to do one of Moms pet peeves.

We weren't allowed to swear- couldn't even tell each other to "shut up" so we would say "please refrain from speaking or I'm gonna kill you!" which they didn't like much either.  My Mom hates the word "suck" even!  So I always used to enjoy it when she's used the vacuum so I could say "Wow- look at that thing suck!!  It just sucks up the dirt like crazy!!"  I got away with swearing once when yelling at my brother (ali's husband) because he was on my case for something and I called him an a-hole.  Dad came around the corner and stood there watching us seeth at each other for a moment and I thought I was in for it.  All he said is "She's right Michael.  Now both of you shut the hell up, I'm watching tv in here".

I've got a great relationship with my dad, I feel like I can talk to him about everything (well, almost), but I don't get along too well with my mom. I'm a lot like my father, so everything that bothered him about her bothers me and so we always have different views about things. I love her to death, though!

my relationship with my parents had some added challenges.  For example, both my parents were teachers at my high school and so they always knew what was going on in my life- sometimes even before I did.  My Dad (history teacher) was my track coach, and my mom was my drama teacher.

They must have influenced me though, I ended up having to chose in college between a theatre major and a history major.  Truly the apple doesnt fall far from the tree in my case.

#2 Nope, I never have nor will swear at my parents....One and mostly out of Respect and Two when growing up...I would have not been able to sit down for a month or I may have seen my jaw laying on the floor lol!

#4 Would not say I was or am a angel...I didn't have another sibling come along until I was almost 17 and not long after that I was out of the house.

#5 I have a great relationship with both of my parents and sis! We are all very close! When growing up... at times they were a little to strict which caused me to be rebellious in some ways, but I know it was only because they cared and loved me! I am very blessed to have such caring and wonderful parents!

Everyone has their ups and downs. No ones situation is any harder or easier than another's. Its how you deal with these situations, and what kind of person they make you that matters. Not who had it "harder".
