How do we improve/save our section S.O.S?
Over the past few weeks this website has changed almost unrecognisably. We've all noticed and I'm pretty sure all not been too happy with the recent change. Now we've had a few polls by a couple of our great NASCAR fans (one in particular the "going down now" poll) which have highlighted some of the problems with the new format-the main one being, how the heck do I get to the part of the website that I want to get to? After talking to some of you and finding out how to get links to the NASCAR section I've been able to, but I think if the site stays in the same format, we'll be done with the members we have at the moment.

When I first found the site it wasn't because I was looking for it, I was doing something for school whereby I had to do an IQ test and I was typing into google about it and this site pooped up. I had a look round and decided I wanted to stay. Now though-some-what 3 or 4 years later, if I was to do the same I'd have no inclination to stay with the site simply by looking at the front page. Debi and Kramer's NASCAR articles as well as everyone elses and their contributions are fantastic, but how can we possibly attract new members to the site, when as far as I can see there is no visible way to get from the front page directly to the NASCAR fan articles.

Polls are great, really they are. Chris' weekly poll, Helen's weekly poll, Scott's weekly plethora of polls, but is that enough to attract "outsiders" onto the site. Eventually, realistically after a while some of the members will tail off, but unlike the past I don't see any way of attracting the new ones. In the past, when Debi would write an article and it would be featured, other sports fans would comment, casual fans would chat to the regulars and this helped boost the section. Now though its tough enough even finding the feature section never mind negotiating through all the betting stuff to get to it.

So what do you all think? Would it be better if we could have a link on the main page again or a link via the polls or just some kind of publicity on the site? I don't mean to rant but I really care about the site and I know that many of you do to, and I really really don't want to see this great section go under like some of features of the site have done. Hey, maybe I'm just talking complete rubbish and you think the changes are improvements on the old format? What do we do folks, and will anyone listen anyway if we do have criticisms of the new format?...S.O.S!!!

Ok now that I spouted off, and have thought about it, I do have something constructive to say.

What was extremely unique, and what I adored about this site from the moment I got here, was that I could have intelligent sports conversations with grown ups, without oodles of drama. Sarcasm wasn't taken personally, wit and humor were appreciated, and even the ones that irked me for their perennially unswayable opinions, I had great respect for. There was so much literary talent in this place, I was astounded.   3 of my favorites are still here, banging away at the keyboard and for that I am still grateful, but I feel bad for them, because now their talent is so hidden , no one that may want to offer them more , will ever see it. And that takes care of the sports sections.

The Locker room , when I got here, was one big dysfunctional, but happy family, and although there was a wee bit of drama on occasion, in general, we really had a good time, there was a great camaraderie, and I used to spend more hours on here, than I really should have, but they damn sure were fun hours. I loved  to log on, and see who found something I said funny, and their responses. It was kool knowing that I could brighten someones day, or they mine.

I loved the quizzes and getting meaningless points to add to my kitty. I loved seeing when I had answered questions right, and even when I didn't , was amazed at how much I was learning, and I cherished/cherish that.

Then someone decided they needed to fix things/go in a different direction, and from then on, the most unique Sports site I have ever been a part of ceased to exist, and that brings me back to my original comment. THIS SUCKS!

I am still here, but I feel like I am barely hanging on, forever hopeful they may throw us a bone, and give of some of what made this site great, back.

Agree 100 percent John. A link from the front page even if it was from a drop down menu would do wonders. A while back, when the changes first started occuring, I think Debi told us to just keep letting the site know what we liked and didn't. If we keep asking for, maybe we will get it. I have noticed, and it maybe due to not being able to find the Nascar Section, little or no discussion. It's sad really, I still enjoy the Nascar stuff, and will continue my "plethora"...(had to borrow that word, love it)..of clicking to get here. Hopfully someone's listening...

Being new to the site I am still trying to figure this whole thing out. I usually just go to my activity page scroll down til I find Jen and click on her to see whats new. Then I follow her around so to speak. I get to where I want to be and catch up on all the Nascar news. I enjoy the polls and articles, there are some good people here. More discussion would be nice. A drop down from the main page would be great and make things alot easier.

So it wasn't all in my head then. ..The other thing John, we as fans have to do our part. Maybe get to the fan pages, and invite other Nascar fans over, it couldn't hurt, and the worse thing is they don't come....we have a good group here, we just have to take up some slack, if you want something to be successful, you have to work at it. If you haven't noticed, I don't mind talking to myself..lol...and eventually I know someone will answer.  Even if it is just the voices in my head....

Come on, Cuddles! I'm listing!  Nascar, in my eyes, is the best SPORT invented! Hands down!

Everyone Drives, but  only a certain few are able to get behind the wheel of a 800+ HP engine, and go balls out! To me that says one thing,
Adrenaline RUSH!!!

Yes, I'm addicted! As well as, the fact that my (favorite) driver "Kasey Kahne" was just picked up by the most prestigious Team

I 100% wholeheartedly agree. But, I am beginning to think maybe what they have done was their intent, and again, I have never been one for eloquent words, so I will just say it sucks, and be done with it. And, unfortunately, between you, me and the fencepost, I don't believe anyone is listening anymore

I hate the new format. HATE IT. Please bring back the old one. It's too hard to find what I am looking for now.

for someone who's "not one for eloquent words" you've summed that up perfectly Andi. Really, the site has been ruined imo. I'm usually pretty reserved in my criticism of anything, but I loved faniq and now I'm just lukewarm towards it. I still love the people on here but my time for the site is dwindling and its so disappointing because the debate and the level of writing on here is very very good, but now no-one new will realistially get to see it.

I'll be staying, more or less whatever happens to the site, but spending much less time on faniq. Like you, I'm still waiting for that bone to be thrown, those crumbs to be dropped for us, but sadly I'm not holding my breath

Well here is my take. If I read this all correctly, it has taken me a month just to find this. Kasey was signed quite a while ago. As I searched for some NASCAR stuff, this is the "newest" article that came up. I'm not here everyday, I do have to work sometimes, but I am taking a look alot less then before. Just can't find anything.
And "Yes", NASCAR is the best sport, been following it for about 9 years now. Stopped following hockey and baseball, and just follow NASCAR.
It's just too bad the site got soooo messed up that now I'm not here much to follow, learn and interact with othe fans.
Hopefully the site will listen.
