I'd return it right away without expecting a reward or something.

Exactly.  If there is some sort of ID, or any type of contact information, I make the attempt to return it.  If it happened to me, that would be my hope.  But if there is no way to track the owner down, then it was meant to be.

I would return it. But like Ash said if there was no license I would be spending it.

wow, because this hapened to me, same way but no license. I left an envelope with 2,000 in cash in a limousine and went back and the driver palyed dumb, to top it off it was my father;s funeral . I almost went  jail that period.
#8 | 1113 days ago

Knowing my luck/karma factor, I'd return it.  But it would NOT be easy.
#9 | 1113 days ago

I don't need that kinda bad karma for 1000 bucks. I can be had, but the bidding starts with a lot more zeros and there is a reserve.

The way you presented the question, I would have to return it.  With the D/L in there my conscience would never stop pestering me if I kept it....  Now Da#&it!!!  When and if I pick up the envelope....  There better not be any license!!  LOL!!
#21 | 1113 days ago

I'm TOO honest....when my wife and I were dating, we parked in Seaside Heights (Yes, the one made famous by MTV's "Jersey Shore").  I needed change for the meter...went into the arcade with a $10 bill...asked for $1 in quarters....kid proceeded to give me my 4 quarters, a $5 bill and five $1 bills.  Instinctively, I gave him a dollar back...so...I would RETURN IT.

I would so return it!  I just have it in me to do that.  I have found a lot of money and have returned it every time!  For that large sum, I would because the owner who most likely give me a least a little, right?  I mean they have that much and lost it, they got to be happy you returned it and give you sum!

All right.  All of you who elected to keep the money just got showed up by two young sisters in Utah.  (Myself included if that envelope had no ID    although example above there was  )

http://www.fox13now.com/news/local/kstu-sisters-return-bag-of-cash-to-owner,0,303997.story

The bag they found did not have any identification, and they turned it over to the police, who already had the owner report that he had lost it.  The owner gave them each $250 for returning his (almost) $18,000.

Return it of course- obviously $1000 is a lot of money to most people and I would feel like absolute dog s^&t if I found out the money was going to be used to buy groceries and clothes etc, etc for somebodies family and kids. However- no license or any idea of who's money it was- it's MINE!

Without question, I would return it.  If there was no ID, I would take it to the Cop Shop.  If no one claimed it, it would be mine anyway.  If someone did, I'd feel so much better that I DID return it!

Return it of course..it had an ID in the envelope. It's the only right thing to do. Put yourself in thier shoes, if you had lost it, you would sure hope that whoever found it would return it back to you.
