hard call but i would have probly stayed there just to make sure they were ok .but heat and age  would also take part in my desisson. but you never know what the circumstance's are . but some people donot have the sence to have kids...probly a good call

Right, ages of children, temp inside the car, several things to take into consideration.  If i thought it was needed i would have got back inside my truck and watched the kids until the mother returned and gave her a piece of my mind.   If they seemed in immediate danger i would have tried to send someone inside to find the mother and if that didn't work, then the police.

You did the right thing by notifying the police. Many children have died because of being left inside of cars where I live and it's always such a heartbreaking story. This sort of thing should really go on her parental record and be used against her if she's ever in  position of fighting for custody.

Without a doubt you did the right thing.  Temps in cars skyrocket during the summer.  Police should have scared the hell out of her.  And thank you for caring enough to get involved.

Nope, you didn't..if I could give you all 50 respects I would. A child should never be left in a vehicle alone.

Absolutley positively did the right thing. No brainer. I was out for a walk a few weeks back. Very similiar thing, 2 0r 3 yr old left sleeping in the carseat while her mother was out back at a BBQ. Boy woke and was SCREAMING bloody murder, which naturally caught our attention. While I opened the door and waited by the car, giving him water (left unlocked, not sure which is more stupid, leaving the kid in a car on a hot day with the windows only cracked or leaving him there so anyone could walk by and grab him), my neighbor alerted the police, who were working a detail down the street. The woman cop came and tore the living crap out of the mother and everyone else who was there. Didn't arrest her. it was brutal. And rightfully so.. Good call on your part

You absolutely did the right thing... Here in Las Vegas where temperatures can soar to over 120 degrees (and up to 180 degrees inside of cars parked in the sun) a small child could die within minutes- so leaving kids in cars is NO JOKE out here. Last year alone we had 7 infant deaths from parents leaving their kids in the car while they went shopping and about 50 animal deaths as well- in fact, one Mother left her 18 month old little girl in the car for 9 1/2 hours while she was gambling in a Local Casino, and it was Dad who found the child dead when he went looking for his wife (because she wasn't answering her cell phone) after he got off of work!- truly pathetic!.......

Next time, crab your tire iron, tell the kids to get back, smash a window, and transport the kids to the nearest hospital for observation! Once they are OK, use the tire iron on the abusive parent and leave them in a hot car until they fry in hell - where they belong.

Just a thought...

ABSOLUTELY the right thing! Even up here in the frozen north, the temps get well into the 80's and the temperature in the car will be over 100.  People around here will usually leave car running with A/C on enough to keep temps controlled, then lock the car and run to do an errand.  Most people, however, take the kids with them.  It may take 5 minutes longer to unstrap, run the errand and restrap, but that five minutes would be a gift, were something tragic to happen.

Ditto..............when in doubt, err on the side of protecting the children.  As someone stated earlier, the same applies for the elderly or animals.  God knows there is enough STUPID in the world!
