Sticks and stones.
 When faced with some one being outwardly rude, how do you deal with it? 
Are you a still water that runs deep, and you tend not to say something back to not make waves? Or are you a excuse me what did you just say to me kind of person? And do you think that nice people when they have finally had it are the scariest people there are? Or do you think they just generally keep taking? If you could be different then what you are when faced with rude people what would you like to be like?

 Really depends on where I am, who I am with, how bad the rudeness is, and if it's a repeat offender. I try to keep my cool but  it can be hard to do that sometimes.

 Well as surprising as this may be, I can be a sarcastic and rude person. If someone is rude to me, I just laugh it off. More times than not, I will react with a even more rude and sarcastic comment. But it does amuse me that people will do it from time to time. Why do you ask? Was someone rude to you?

 Yeah the repeat offenders are the one's that I am really talking about, I think that since they get away with it a couple of times that they always can. I guess some people don't realize that it's the one's that do take it that get really angry when they get fed up.

 I have always been the "still water runs deep". quiet type.  BUT,   in my old age i don't have time to waste so i more then likely will bite their heads off.

Depending on the person, but I really don't like to waste my time and energy on nonsense fights, those are occasions when I can use Janet's trademark eyes roll and walk away

 Sometimes I am OVERLY polite.  Sometimes I walk away, indicating that I have nothing further to say to the person.  Sometimes I react with an "Eff You!!" kind of attitude and then walk away.  Often it depends on where I am (work? Customer? social?) that will depend on how I react.  If at work, I'm usually extremely polite unless they get abusive, then I indicate I have nothing further to say and walk away  (often with the aforementioned eff you).  As a Customer, I will indicate clearly that it will be the last time I grace their establishment.  In a social situation, I often just leave.  Usually in a social situation alcohol is involved, and the person is allowing hte alcohol to do the talking.

 Everybody has bad days so I tend to let to let ppl slide with one exception, no mercy for repeat offenders!

 i just let them be rude. up to a point, then watch out!! lol  be rude to me and family and friends alone. if i am around,

Like most people have already said…it depends on the situation.  I do also agree that repeat offenders should be punished with the highest penalty possible!  Like a boot to the head for example or maybe even a blindfold and then let a group of kids pummel him/her until they pass out.  Nothing really too bad in any aspect!  lol

 I tend to let it slide. After all stupid people are not an excuse to be rude! However rude, lazy and STUPID I'm just gonna go ahead and set my phazer to kill!

I have always said what was on my mind so, If a person chooses to be rude they mite not like what I have to say in return.

So remember what your mom always told you if you cant say something nice don't say nothing at all

 I HAVE WORKED IN RETAIL BUSINESS FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND ENCOUNTER RUDE PEOPLE DAILY ,SOME WORSE THAN OTHER I AM NORMALLY ABLE TO DEAL WITH THEM IN AT LEAST A SEMI PROFESSIONAL MANNER,I DONT DO QUIT AS WELL IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK

 It depends on whether or not the rudeness is directed at me for a personal reason or if they're just having a tough time and I happen to be in the way of their wrath. I'm pretty good at reading people; I can usually tell what's going on with people and why they're being rude.

- If somebody is being cruel to me about something personal, I will tell them to mind their own business and leave mine alone.
- If I feel that an acquaintance is taking something out on me that should be directed elsewhere I'll ask them what's going on, why so crabby?
- If it's someone I don't know, working in customer service somewhere, I usually give them the benefit of the doubt and just figure maybe they've had a bad day and let it go.
- If it's someone on the site directing their frustrations toward me, I don't take it personal...I understand that they're probably irritated by something that's going on. However, if they're consistently nasty with me about everything, I tactfully let them know that being rude isn't going to make matters any better or easier on either one of us.
- If I feel that they're being rude to me for no reason, because they're just rude people I'll just let it go. Nothing I say or do is going to wake them up; they are who they are and letting their attitude affect me isn't going to help anybody involved.

 You know I think that's must be where I have got my tolerance for rude people. I have been a waitress for 30 years now. But even I have a limit.

Yea, those old comics are great.  Frank Frazetta is one of my all-time favorite fantasy artists--my other is Luis Royo.

Frazetta tended to capture the raw essence of perceptions in his artwork, whilst Royo is the master of making his artwork come alive.

 It's a Judgement call because there is always the right time and right place to deal with rude peolpe.

 You know that is so funny you say that because I let people walk all over me and don't really defend myself, but look out as some here already know I defend what belongs to me and that means my family, either my real one or the ones I consider my family.

 I am not a confrontational person, but there are limits. I am probably the sort that has to be backed into a corner to lash out - at least publicly. My attacks/responses are usually calculated... What will be the result? Is it worth it? If I allow myself to be wronged this time, will it go away, or will I become a door mat? What kind of response should I give? A sharp & cutting.. or, an attempt to reason? Most times I just ignore it. People who know me worry when I get quiet and focused.
I just let them be rude and go on about my day.

 I invite them to dinner, find out exactly why they feel so inclined to be mean to me.  Talk for hours, sippin scotch and enjoyin a stogie ... take a limo ride out all around town flirtin with the babes everywhere we go, than end the evening atop a local water tower enjoying the view (if you've never done this ... it's worth doing ... at least once) ... than I shake their hand, hope they don't still hold a grudge, wish them the best that life has to offer them, and throw them off the Fn tower!

Of course, than I wake up and realize they're one of only a few d-bags who've ever thought to treat me like that and KNOW without any doubt that Karma will do that F'er in one day!!!  No doubts!!!
