A few years, about twice the average for my longest, which was my primary job since I am only 10 years in the working field.

My 70 yr old dad only had two primary employers his whole life.  He worked for two separate lumber companies...one for 10 years, the other for 41 years.
I've had my current job for 1 year, and i'm leaving.  The average is about right for two of my other jobs.  I was at another job for roughly two years.

I worked at one place off and on for about 10 yrs.   Other jobs, one day to  about 3 1/2 yrs.  I finally found what i am good at:  retirement.

I probably helped bring that average down quite a bit since I've been fired from many jobs relatively quickly (some of them I quit ... but mostly fired  ).
But that was long ago when I was a terrible employee.  Now I'm outstanding and will probably be where I'm at for many more years ... I hope.

Fifteen years currently.  Don't want to go anywhere else.  Would be happy to stay here until I can't move anymore.

13 years but the company went bankrupt ( owners where stealing their own money )  and then  my  boss took a few of us with him to a new place. that's been 6 years so far.  but 19 years with the same head honcho.

I'm working at the local golf course for the summer, so will be employed here about 5-6 months, depending on the length of the season.  The last job I stayed for 6 months until my torn rotator cuff and broken ribs forced me to find a different place.  Before that, I averaged about 18 months in two different places before getting bored. I've held two positions longer than 7 years, one for 8, the other for 14.  Beforre that, I was pretty much babysitting and gardening  and I've discovered that lately, I get bored too easily and start looking for something new - that's something I never did  when I was younger - I stayed in the same ol' same ol' until I was about dead....

Around here 1 to 5 years seem to be the norm. When you get to the top of the pay scale expect to be gone shortly

I've been at my job for 8 yrs, but that's the longest I've been at it. My previous job was six years, but before that it was months or a year at a time. Oh well, 8 down, life to go with this economy.
