There is a lot of money in being a head coach.  Regardless of who is on the team

 Of course he regrets it. The Cavs with LeBron would have been in position to win it all, but without him they won't even make the playoffs. But Byron's former coach, Pat Riley, is loving this :)

YES HE'S ANGRY and probably regrets taking this team. With Lebron, him taking this team over and beyond the hump would have validated him as a viable coach. Now without Lebron, he won't even get noticed.
