10+ Days of a traffic jam??? (Edited 10/14/10 12:39AM by Jess)
I'm sure we've all been in traffic jams that leave us wanting to pull our hair out.  Sometimes they are caused by construction, and other times they're due to an accident(or people slowing down to look at one).  Nevertheless, I can't imagine anyone enjoys these things.

After reading about the traffic jam below, it go me thinking.  What's the worst traffic you've encountered?

rita evacuation in 2005. it was just weeks after katrina so everyone was freshly freaked out and there was no formal evactuation plan in place. all of houston am-scrayed at the same time. it was just awful. a 3 hour drive to austin turned into 26. people were dying and losing pets all over the place. just awful.

here's a picture of some of the devastation rita actually caused on houston. (this is a picture in my friend's backyard.)

OK... I would hate that. I hate going slow or not moving. I lose it...

In Duluth was at a stand still for 30 mins. Yeah, most would laugh at that, that never happens here. This year I think the detours have detours. They really need to think those through...

In Minneapolis. Nothing that a little push can't handle.. Why do ppl think they need to slow down to look at an accident, pull the F*ck over if you have to.

On the way to Chicago... Took an hour to get through downtown.. REALLY.. an Hour.. I just about left car and walked.

I seen that at 2am this morning before going to bed
The worst one I was in was  a construction area I
got out asked the lady how long? She said it would
take about 20 mins. So the flag truck finally showed
up to lead us through went about 100 yards and stopped
almost causing me to hit the car in front of me. The whole
thing was 4 hours long I was on the time clock but still
very annoying

ON the way home from Vegas one time, we actually turned the car off, got out, and started talking with the other motorists.

But really, out here in Southern California there isn't a day when there isn't traffic.

Man Chicago has awful jams but that is amazing.   How do you stay on a highway for 5 + days? Well those people are more patient than Americans thats for sure.

And J.D. you have already gotten your 5 from me today so here you go.

I-81 in PA... some idiots were racing and sure enough 5 minutes later traffic comes to a stop. It took 3 hours to get out of there. My 10-11 hour trip turned into 14 hours.

In my limited experience in LA, I didn't use any public transportation.  Do you have a decent system there?  Or is the city too spread out?

Well.....I suppose it's decent, but I think most live so far out of the actual city of Los Angeles.

I live in the middle of "Rectal Temperature, Michigan" the only time we see a traffic jam is when one of these

or one of these

blocks traffic.

Ahhh yes, Rectal Temperature, Michigan.  Direct cousin of Frozen Hell, British Columbia.  Saw each of those today on our friendly highways...........Oh, and one of these as well.

And yes, it was the 9870

I have some good friends who live just outside of Houston (exact community name escapes me) and they were evacuating because of Rita.  They told me they would phone as soon as they reached their Evac destination, and almost two days went by before I heard from them.  I was sick with worry, but their cell couldn't pick up a strong enough signal (everyone was using their cells) and when they finally got to destination, they slept, and slept and slept.  They said it was the worst experience of their lives.  Their property had minimal damage, one tree down, and a broken window in a shed.

i am very familiar with most John Deere products   Hubby's combine is actually a 9860 (with a bright yellow hopper  cover) but the one that blocked the highway  was a 9870.  He also has the 9400 but it's modified as a tow tractor to tow the gas and oilfield idiots who don't know how to put on chains on tires.....

Me? I have JD sunglasses, gloves, hoodies, boots, and lawn mower
